Text 9
M: Dr. Evans, you just said that these ancient texts are actually the recipes from ancient Babylonia. Can you tell us more?
W: Ancient Babylonia is home to many of the things that we use in our cooking today. I bet about 50% of the energy you need every day comes from vegetables or animals that originated in this area.
M: Why have these texts taken so long to come to light?
W: These ancient texts have been known since the 1920s but were thought to be medical texts. In the 1940s, Mary Hussey, an American scholar, suggested that they might be about food, but people didn't believe her until French author Jean Poteau,in the 1980s, was asked to write an article about cooking in the past. He had heard about the texts, so he went to Yale University and found out that they were indeed about food.

原文依据:第四段 Commane 说:“We‘re all for planting more trees... But if we’re not careful, we could make air quality worse.”
A. Cutting down the isoprene-producing trees.(砍掉产生异戊二烯的树)——过于激进,文中未支持。
B. Suspending tree-planting for a few decades.(暂停种树几十年)——与“We're all for planting more trees”矛盾。
C. Changing the species of trees in new plantings.(改变新种植的树种)——合理:既继续种树,又避免空气质量恶化。
The Parks Department is not oblivious to the issue. 所以 “not oblivious to” = “意识到”。
Honest about(对……
B. Unaware of(未意识到)——oblivious to 正是此意,但加上 not 就变成“意识到”。
C. Related to(与……相关)
D. Optimistic about(对……
同根词:oblivion(遗忘)。
31.原文依据:第五段 Auyeung 说:“We could plant any trees we want to, if we just rethink our car-centric lifestyle.”
A. Reducing car use in daily life.(减少日常汽车使用)——直接对应“rethink car-centric lifestyle”。
B. Providing animals with new habitats.(为动物提供新栖息地)——不是她强调的重点。
D. Doing more research on the problem.(对问题做更多研究)——文中未提。
答案:A
注意“if we just...”
34.原文依据:第五段最后一句:“...suggesting that it was the engagement with beauty that influenced abstract thinking, rather than any overall positivity from the experience.”
A. To discover their attitudes towards art.(发现他们对艺术的态度)——偏离。
B. To identify their specific thinking patterns.(识别他们具体的思维模式)——不是直接目的。
C. To examine the difficulty of the tasks.(检查任务的难度)——无关。
F. Furthermore, AI-powered virtual guides are replacing traditional tour guides.(此外,AI驱动的虚拟导游正在取代传统导游。)—— “virtual guides” 正好对应后面的 “these digital assistants”。
Museums are working... to develop fair algorithms. 40 ___. Strict policies should be established to protect visitors' information.”
B. Visitor data collection also raises privacy issues.(访客数据收集也会引发隐私问题。)
51.frequent (adj.) → frequency (n.)
类似:fluent → fluency,efficient → efficiency
57.trade A for B 意为“用A换取B”
类似搭配:exchange A for B
63.they line up in front of stands 63 serve steaming dumplings and hot noodle soup.
我推荐方案A(Study > Socialize > Sleep),最容易写出有深度的理由。
From my perspective, the order of importance is as follows: ...
If I were to rank the three, I would put ... first, followed by ..., and lastly ...
Personally, I believe that ... tops the list, then comes ..., and ... ranks the lowest.
First and foremost, ...
Another reason is that ...
Last but not least, ...
Compared with ..., ... is more ...
学习 academic foundation, core task, career prospects, knowledge acquisition
社交 interpersonal skills, network building, emotional support, teamwork
睡眠 physical recovery, energy recharge, time management, efficiency
Ranking My College Life Essentials
From my perspective, study comes first, followed by socializing, and then sleep.
Study is the core of university life. It builds our professional knowledge and shapes future careers. Without solid academic training, college loses its primary value.
Socializing ranks second because it develops communication skills and lasting friendships, which are equally crucial for personal growth.
Sleep, though essential for health, can be managed with good time planning. Compared with the other two, it is less unique to the college experience.
That‘s my priority list for a rewarding college life.
