第一节(共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。
A
Looking for a new poetry book to read? I’ve got you! We’re going to explore some of my favorite poetry collections, which range from the traditional all the way to the totally experimental. And though they differ in terms of tone and subject matter, they’ve all got we call “good parts”.
Night Sky with Exit Wounds by Ocean Vuong
It is the first poetry collection from Ocean Vuong. Vuong’s style is well-suited to the heavy subjects he pursues, particularly when he reflects on the loss of his father and his experiences as a wartime refugee. There’s a certain wonderful quality to his writing.
Lunch Poems by Frank O’Hara
If you like a conversational style, Lunch Poems might be the poetry book for you. Personal, funny, and easy, the collection perfectly shows the casual voice of Frank O’Hara, an outstanding figure of the New School Movement in last-’50s New York. As the name suggests most of the poems were written during his lunch bread at work, bringing a realistic image by the writing.
100 Selected Poems by E. E. Cummings
It’s a shame that more people don’t take E. E. Cummings seriously. Yes, his poetry is sometimes experimental. Unconcerned with “rules”, Cummings tried to capture emotion in its own form.
The Complete Poems by Elizabeth Bishop
In my opinion, any kind of fantastic poetry books must include Elizabeth Bishop. Highly skilled and highly influential, Bishop was one of the most powerful voices of the 20th century. She mostly worked within traditional forms, but the forms led to surprising effects, mixing classic style with modern ones.
21. Who experienced war?
A. Frank O’Hara. B. Ocean Vuong
C. E. E. Cummings. D. Elizabeth Bishop
22. Which poetry collection reflect the real world?
A. Lunch Poems. B. 100 Selected Poems
C. The Complete Poems D. Night Sky with Exit Wounds
23. What does the author think of Elizabeth Bishop’s poetry?
A. It is funny B. It is personal
C. It is excellent D. It is experimental

Soon after Mr. & Mrs. Bacchus started farming their little patch of land, they faced a major problem — a plague of birds fed on their precious crops. Then, a man stopped on the road outside their house, and asked the couple if he could take photographs of the birds on the property. Afterwards, he suggested that instead of trying to get rid of the birds, they should instead learn to live alongside them, and Maraksacha Reserve was born.
Today, the couple credit this man, the celebrated bird photographer Manu Espinosa, with changing their lives, and helping them persuade others of the vital importance of conservation in this region.
Birding tourism is flourishing in Ecuador, with increasing numbers of specialist tour groups. Ecuador contains a variety of ecosystems at differing elevations, which helps explain why it’s among the top 10 countries in the world for bird diversity. The country is home to over 1,600 bird species — nearly double the number found in all of Europe — within an area just slightly larger than the UK.
As the business of birding grows, more and more farmers are switching their land from agriculture to bird reserves, benefiting not just the birds, but the country’s economy too. One notable example is the Ajila family, who have devoted themselves to preserving the long-wattled umbrellabird. On his land near Recinto, landowner Luis Ajila has switched from dairy farming to conservation, replanting trees and promoting the site to wildlife tourists — work that he says is a better livelihood than farming.
“Wildlife tourism is much more profitable than farming, but that wasn’t our only motivation,” says Luis Jr., Ajila’s son. “We aimed to protect not just the umbrellabird, but all the unique wildlife here, safeguarding them for future generations.”
Since 2005, Angel Paz has transformed his former dairy farm into a bird reserve. At first, things didn’t go to plan: it took a month for the first visitor to arrive, and he paid just $ 10 for a four-hour tour. Since then, however, thousands of people have made the pilgrimage. “I have protected my home and its birdlife for almost two decades, and finally watched the wildlife — and the people who visit — flourish,” Angel Paz says.
24. What advice did the photographer give to the couple?
A. Photographing the birds. B. Coexisting with the birds.
C. Protecting their precious crops. D. Taking care of their property.
25. What is paragraph 3 of the text mainly about?
A. How Ecuador is geographically unique.
B. What distinguishes Ecuador’s biodiversity.
C. What makes Ecuador a birding destination.
D. How birding tourism is operated in Ecuador.
26. What have the Ajila family achieved?
A. Helping other farmers shake off poverty.
B. Combining profitability with sustainability.
C. Applying new technology in modern farming.
D. Changing the landscapes of their residential areas.
27. What can we learn from Ángel Paz’s story?
A. Well begun is half done. B. It takes time to bear fruit.
C. The early bird catches the worm. D. The secret to success is adaptability.

In a world where tech companies often compete to create the next productivity tool, a new device is breaking away from the pack. Meet Friend: a new wearable AI companion that you wear around your neck. The small device records your every word and interaction and responds accordingly by text. They cost $ 99 and are expected to ship out in early 2025.
The device comes at a time when loneliness and social isolation (孤独) are at record highs. Studies indicate that 61% of young people in the U. S. suffer from serious loneliness, a statistic that reveals a growing mental health crisis. While AI reshapes all the ways we interact in jobs, healthcare and entertainment — more and more people report feeling socially isolated, Schiffmann, Meet Friend’s founder, sees it differently: the device isn’t a replacement for human relationships but rather a way to fill the gaps when human companionship is hard to come by.
AI companionship is controversial (有争议的). While some people, like Schiffmann, argue that it can help people feel less isolated, others worry that AI relationships might displace real human connections, and thus make people feel more lonely. If you are someone who already struggles with human interactions, the thinking goes, why would you continue to subject yourself to them when you have an AI friend who’s fun and uncomplicated, and doesn’t come with all the baggage of another person?
But so far, the research doesn’t seem to support this fear. Drake-Maples at Stanford University surveyed more than 1,000 students who used the AI chatbot Replika, and investigated their feelings of loneliness and perceived social support. Roughly half of these users reported decreased anxiety, and a feeling of social support. Nearly a quarter of those surveyed said they are more able to handle stress in their current relationship because of Replika’s advice.
It is still a new field though, and Drake-Maples says there needs to be guidelines. “I strongly believe that you do need to have ethical guidelines around AI companions pushing people back when appropriate, towards human relationships,” she says. These could be gentle reminders like “Hey, you should go chat with somebody about that” or “Go practice this now with a real human.”
28. What is Meet Friend aimed at?
A. Replacing human relationships.
B. Boosting the productivity at work.
C. Offering a new approach to connection.
D. Detecting early symptoms of mental illness.
29. What does the underlined part “the thinking” in paragraph 3 refer to?
A. AI helps avoid life’s stress.
B. It’s easy to communicate with an AI friend.
C. AI worsens feelings of loneliness.
D. Human relationships are hard to keep.
30. What is Drake-Maples’ attitude towards AI companionship?
A. Cautious. B. Unclear. C. Disapproving. D. Supportive.
31. Which of the following is the best title for the text?
A. Will AI change human nature? B. Will AI redefine mental health crisis?
C. Can we trust an AI friend? D. Can an AI friend make us less lonely?
D
It isn’t just the beauty of vast natural wonders like the Grand Canyon that can take your breath away. You can find awe (敬畏) in everyday things. A new research, published in the journal Emotion, found that older adults who took “awe walks” felt more positive emotions in their daily lives.
In the study, 52 older adults aged 60 to 90 were divided randomly into two groups. They were told to take at least one 15-minute walk each week for eight weeks. Volunteers in the “awe group” were instructed in how to inspire awe as they walked. “We asked them to try to see the world with fresh eyes — to take in new details of a leaf or flower, for example,” Sturm says. For example, one participant from the awe group wrote about “the beautiful fall colors and how the leaves were no longer crunchy (嘎吱响) underfoot because of the rain” — the wonder that small children feel as they embrace (拥抱) their expanding world. However, people in the other group were less focused on the world around them. One participant wrote, “I thought about our vacation in Hawaii next Thursday.”
In addition, participants were asked to take selfies (自拍) in the beginning, middle, and end of each walk. Researchers found that participants who took awe walks showed a “small self”, in which they filled less of their photographs with their own image and more with the background scenery. “When we feel awe, our attention shifts from focusing on ourselves to focusing on the world around us,” Sturm says. “Awe affects our social relationships because it helps us to feel more connected with the world, universe, and other people.” Their smiles also grew broader by the end of the study. “We analyzed the degrees of their smiles in the selfies, and participants who took awe walks displayed greater smiles over time than those who took control walks. The former reported greater positive emotions in general, including more joy and gratitude.”
Participants in the control group took more frequent walks than those people in the awe group, the researchers discovered. But walking more didn’t result in positive changes in emotional health or in the way their selfies were taken. This suggests that the results were mainly due to experiencing awe, and not just in spending time exercising.
32. What were participants in the “awe group” required to do in Paragraph 2?
A. To take a walk each week. B. To focus on their inner world.
C. To collect leaves after the rain. D. To explore with childlike curiosity.
33. What can we see in the selfies from the awe walks?
A. Close-up images with wide smiles. B. More attention to themselves.
C. Merely the background scenery. D. Small figures with bigger smiles.
34. What can we know from the last paragraph?
A. Experiencing awe matters. B. More walks, more joy.
C. Exercises can benefit us. D. Awe comes with walking.
35. Which of the following can be the best title?
A. Awe Walks Promote Your Physical Fitness,
B. Experiencing Awe Does Wonders for Everyone.
C. Awe Walks Improve Your Positive Emotions.
D. Frequent Walks Contribute to Emotional Health.

Aesthetic (审美) education aims to improve aesthetic awareness, experience aesthetic qualities, encourage aesthetic creativity, and promote aesthetic judgement.
In order for kids to be able to appreciate natural wonders, shapes and pictures, they must be able to first notice them. This is why the development of the ability to notice the beautiful is the primary task of aesthetic education. 36 Kids are incapable of noticing particular shapes if their ability to notice objects and forms is undeveloped. The aesthetic relationship begins with the noticing of aesthetic qualities.
37 This means that they make emotional responses like excitement and joy, enriching individuals’ emotional lives and inspiring artistic expression. The ability to experience aesthetically must also be developed. The cognitive (认知的) elements of the processes that we experience during noticing must also include emotional tones with which we form impressions. 38 The aim of this task is, with the aid of aesthetic qualities, to enrich the emotional cite of children and young people and the development of a sense for aesthetic values.
It is essential to allow children to participate in activities that will develop their creative abilities. This is not so much about producing aesthetic abilities in the sense of training artists. 39 We are not simply born with that abilities which have to be developed.
Judging or evaluating aesthetic qualities demands formed evaluation criteria (标准). In order for beauty to reveal its true value, we must be familiar with its particularities. Throughout the process of aesthetic education, various types of knowledge, abilities and evaluation criteria must be applied. 40 .
A. This way, the child will develop the foundations for assessing the beautiful.
B. And it is these that the aesthetic experience is built upon.
C. The beautiful will be likely to be created.
D. Instead, it is about creativity in the creation of aesthetic values in everyday life.
E. Beauty can be found all around us.
F. In some way, this is the ability to perceive aesthetic qualities.
G. Aesthetic qualities have to be felt.

Though his father, grandmothers, uncles, aunts and cousins were all going to be there, it would be the first time for Hasan, a thoroughly pampered (娇生惯养的) child, to be without the constant mothering of his helicopter mother.
At first Hasan tried to emotionally blackmail (要挟) his mother into not going, but after she promised to bring back his favorite toys and candies, he unwillingly let her go.
When he went to drop off his mother at the airport, he had teary eyes as he wondered how he was going to survive without her for the next two weeks. Although he felt like crying like a baby, he was too embarrassed to cry out loud. But when his father hugged him, Hasan couldn’t stop crying in his arms. When they returned home, Hasan, who had always been told by his mother what to do, now had no one to tell him to wash his hands or finish his dinner. Though he was very upset about his mother’s leaving, suddenly he also realized the potential for partying, away from his mother’s discipline (管教). There would be no checks or balances. He could stay up late, eat junk food and use the Internet to his heart’s content.
Back from school, he would think, “Homework? I’ll make the most of my freedom and have some fun instead!” Hasan started to stay up till he could no longer stay awake and then woke up with a lot of difficulty at seven in the morning, barely making it to school on time. But after a few days, his partying started catching up with him. In school, he was barely managing to stay awake. Things started getting out of control. His homework remained undone. He failed his tests. He felt weak from eating only junk food.

M: I’m ready to call it a day. Are you with me?
W: Sounds like a good idea. I’ve stayed late every night this week. I’ll wrap up the report in the morning.
(Text 2)
W: I just finished Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn! It was a real page-turner.
M: I’ve heard great things. What’s it about?
W: It’s a mystery. The plot is amazing!
(Text 3)
M: Sally, I was surprised to see you at the concert with Michael last night. Doesn’t he hate classical music?
W: No, he doesn’t. Are you confusing him with Pete, perhaps?
(Text 4)
W: I don’t like this paint. It’s far too dark.
M: I know. It’s my fault. I should have bought a small amount to test it. Now I have several containers of the stuff and no other place to use it.
(Text 5)
M: We’re almost on empty. Where do you think we should stop?
W: The sign back there said there’s a service station just beyond Exit 12, a few miles down the road.
M: I hope we can make it.

第二节
(Text 6)
W: I honestly don’t understand why “likes” are so important to some people. It’s like their whole self-worth is dependent upon social media.
M: I agree it’s stupid, but I can’t help it. I want people to like what I post.
W: So, what do you do if nobody likes your photo?
M: I get upset. Wouldn’t you?
W: I never post anything, so I wouldn’t know.
(Text 7)
W: Right, I think I’ve got everything.
M: OK. Let me see. Mm, it’s a long list, isn’t it?
W: Yes. And we need to remember, we’re going by train. And we’ve only got our backpacks. So we can’t carry that much.
M: You’re right. We need to decide what’s really necessary and what we don’t really need.
W: Let’s go through the list again and cross out the things that aren’t as important.
M: Mm. Do we really need to take a cooking pot? It’ll be quite heavy to carry. Maybe we’ll have to buy food there. We can keep going on energy bars during the day to save money.
(Text 8)
W: So, James. I’ve shown you where all the main book sections are: fiction, nonfiction, children’s. Any questions so far?
M: Yes, I was wondering when the busiest times are here.
W: Well, a lot of children come on Monday mornings because we have children’s story time. We’re usually busiest from ten to twelve. And our delivery for new books usually arrives on Wednesdays around three. Also, we have cleaning staff here every day from one to two.
M: OK. A customer was looking for the book Wonders of the West, but I couldn’t help her find it in the nature section.
W: I can help you with that. Let me take this opportunity to show you how to check whether books are available.
(Text 9)
M: Hello, I’m interested in the courses offered there. As a working professional, I’d like to use my time after work productively.
W: We provide diverse courses that fit different interests. From language lessons to cooking classes and fitness sessions, there’s something for everyone. Any specific course you’re interested in?
M: I’m considering language and fitness classes. Could you tell me more?
W: Certainly. We offer language courses for all levels, including French, Spanish, and German. As for fitness, we cover routines from yoga to high-intensity workouts. Both are available in group or one-on-one tutoring sessions. For more details, you can consult our brochure or our website.
M: Perfect. I often have unpredictable work hours, though.
W: Don’t worry. Our courses run throughout the day, and we also have weekend options, ensuring you’ll find something that matches your routine.
M: How long does each course typically last? And what’s the duration for individual sessions?
W: Typically, a course lasts eight weeks with two sessions per week. Each session lasts around 60 to 90 minutes.
(Text 10)
W: Well, thank you everyone for your interest in our Pyrenean Charity Challenge. So, what are you signing up for? We’ll walk from Wednesday to Friday through the beautiful scenery of the Spanish Pyrenees. The route will take us through a variety of landscapes: first we’ll follow an amazing path along the coast. Then we’ll head away from the coast and walk through hills and forest. We will walk about 15 kilometers per day. It should take us about six to seven hours. Each day’s walking will start from one hotel and finish at the next hotel on the route. We’ll walk at a leisurely speed, so this challenge is no problem if you’re a fit and active person. Previous experience is useful, but it’s not absolutely necessary. We will have an experienced leader who’s fully trained and knows the route.
What will you need to take? The most important item you’ll need is good walking boots. You should buy them well in advance to make sure they fit well. You’ll need a waterproof jacket to keep you dry and warm and walking shorts are a good idea. You will also need a small backpack to carry your lunch and a water bottle.

官方参考答案
Hello, everyone!
I’m very honored to stand here today to introduce our group’s handicraft project on behalf of my teammates.
This lantern is made of silk and bamboo, featuring beautiful patterns of flowers and butterflies. The silk is painted in bright reds and golds, colors that symbolize prosperity and happiness. The bamboo frame makes it strong and elegant.
We chose to create this lantern because it represents the spirit of Chinese festivals and brings warmth to our lives. In a fast-paced world, we wanted to reconnect with our cultural roots and share this festive spirit with everyone.
Thank you!

Possible Version:
One day, his teacher finally demanded to know what was going on with him. Unable to figure out why Hasan changed his performance dramatically in such a short time, he felt puzzled / confused and called Hasan to his office and inquired about it with concern. With butterflies in his stomach, Hasan stammered out what had happened recently. How he wished the ground to open up and swallow him! Upon hearing Hasan’s reply, the teacher uttered in disbelief, “Hasan, your mother is absent for just a few days and now your academic achievement and well-being are seriously affected. You are ruining your body and soul and even your future. True freedom comes from self-discipline rather than indulgence (放纵) in your own desire.”
The teacher’s words sank into his brain and made sense to him. Regret and guilt overwhelmed him like endless tides. From that day on, determined to get back on track, he assigned time for study, set up a reasonable sleeping time, and started eating nutritious food. Soon, his efforts paid off. He felt enormously energetic and dynamic again and gradually made progress in his study, which surprised his father and teacher a lot. The teacher gave him a big smile and thumbs-up. A great sense of accomplishment dominated his heart. This experience was like a wake-up call, always reminding him that discipline and responsibility mattered most in his life.
