Pandas are lovely animals, and learning about them is fun. Let me tell you what I found out.
Wild pandas live in bamboo forests. They spend about 12 hours a day eating bamboo. Sometimes, they eat other plants or small animals. At places like the Dujiangyan Panda Base, zookeepers feed them apples and special panda cakes. These cakes are made from rice, eggs, flour(面粉), and other things.
Adult(成年的) giant pandas are big. They weigh between 75 and 125 kilograms. Mother pandas usually have one baby at a time. The baby panda is called a cub. When a cub is born, it only weighs about 85 grams!The little cub drinks its mother's milk for about four months. Then it starts to try eating bamboo, but it still needs milk. Young pandas stay with their mothers for around 18 months.
Scientists think there are between 1,500 and 2,000 pandas in the wild. This is a low number, but it is increasing(增加) now. Why is the number of pandas increasing? Because scientists are working hard to help them at places like the Dujiangyan Panda Base. There are also about 56 pandas in zoos in many other countries, such as the United States, Mexico, Japan, and Germany.
