A healthy lifestyle is very important to us. It can not only keep us fit but also help us perform better in study. 1
To begin with, a proper diet is the base of good health. Make sure to have three meals a day. We should include a lot of fresh vegetables and fruit in our diet. 2 Instead of having a can of cola, we can choose a glass of fruit juice.
Doing sports is necessary. We don’t have to do too much exercise for many hours. 3 For example, we can simply take a walk during breaks or just climb the stairs. They are very easy to do but very useful.
Another key is getting enough sleep. Many of us stay up late to study. 4 We should have a regular sleep schedule and get 7 to 8 hours of sleep each night. A good night’s sleep will help us remember better and be ready for a new day.
5 We often face challenges and stress in our studies and life. It’s important to find ways to deal with stress, such as having a chat with our friends, listening to music or reading books. Keeping positive can help us overcome difficulties.

Change your sleep schedule (计划), if necessary.
8 This might make it difficult to get back into your school routine But remember you need to get a full night’s rest, because sleeping less is terrible for your body. For example, it can result in weight gain.
Talk with your parents.
Communicate with your parents often and keep your parents up to date not only with your school activities, but also with your feelings. 9
10

The adults in your life play an important role in shaping the person you are. Through their encouragement and guidance, they help you to flourish, learn, and grow. Sometimes, though, you might forget your appreciation for them. 1 At these moments, it’s hard not to focus on everything they’re doing ‘wrong’, but there are ways to reset and remind yourself of what you value about them.
● Keep talking.
It’s easy to lock yourself away when you’re upset with your parents or after an argument. It’s normal for healthy relationships to break down occasionally. 2 The key to communicating well is to be open about your feelings but try not to use your words to wound or punish.
● Why appreciation matters.
Life isn’t always easy. But by looking for things to feel grateful for, you can reflect on the positives in life, even in the toughest times. 3 Building an attitude of gratitude takes time and practice. Noticing all the good that your parents do will not only build and improve relationships, but create a positive cycle, where everyone feels that their efforts are acknowledged.
● 4
It might also help to keep in mind that even though the adults in your life can seem all-knowing, they’re actually just ordinary people with strengths and weaknesses. 5 Often, they’re only trying to protect and guide you. This can feel annoying when you want to lead your own life and make your own choices. But good communication is about compromise and can take a bit of practice. Remember that your parents are learning, too!
A.That’s not to say this is easy.
B.Grow together with your parents.
C.Parents always have the final say.
D.It is likely that your parents are doing their best.
E.Showing appreciation doesn’t require great efforts.
F.It’s the making-up and repairing part that’s important.
G.There might also be times when your relationship comes under extra pressure.
As we become increasingly aware of the impact our actions have on the environment, more and more of us are looking for ways to reduce our carbon footprint. Throughout a given trip, both big and small decisions you make can affect a lot the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions (排放) produced by your holiday. 6 ? Here are some tips on enjoying a “green” holiday.
·Keep it light on luggage (行李). Every single extra kilo you carry around drives up emissions. 7 Packing (收拾行李) with purpose can actively cut your carbon footprint. So you can travel with a more thoughtful, lighter bag. It’s a small change that can make a big difference.
·Explore with care. 8 . Instead of fighting traffic, you might find hidden treasures by chance, and you’re more likely to meet new people. This habit can connect you with the city you’re visiting and help you know the city better.
· 9 . Be a big believer in asking questions, especially when it comes to a hotel’s impact on people and the planet. Ask your hotel to share how it sources renewable energy, saves water, and manages waste. If the hotel can’t show proof of similar action, keep digging. The more we, as tourists, ask similar questions, the more the industry will move toward responsible practices.
·Do your part to protect the local community. Volunteer for a beach clean-up, join a reforestation project, or just pick up rubbish as you travel. Even such small efforts can help protect natural beauty for future generations. 10 .
A.Your actions make your trip meaningful long after you’ve gone home
B.Changing from taxis to bikes means you’re kind to the environment
C.What’s more, it slows you down when you explore a new city
D.So how can we make a difference when heading on holiday
E.Do something big to make others aware of the problem
F.What do you think of the benefits of them
G.Ask about your hotel’s carbon footprint
Why Should We Protect Wild Animals?
Wild animals are an important part of our planet’s ecosystem. 11 Yet many of them are facing serious threats (威胁) caused by human activities. It’s time for us to take action to protect them before it’s too late.
12 One of them is the loss of habitats. As cities grow larger and forests are cut down, wild animals lose their homes and food sources. For example, many kinds of birds can’t find enough trees to build nests or enough insects to eat. Another big threat is illegal (非法的) hunting. Some people hunt wild animals for their fur, horns (角), or meat to make money. 13 Besides, pollution, including air, water and soil pollution, also makes living conditions worse for wild animals. It poisons their food and damages their health.
So what can we do to help? First, we should learn more about wild animals and the problems they face. 14 For instance, we can tell our family and friends not to eat wild animal meat or buy products made from wild animals.
Second, we can support wildlife protection groups. They work hard to save endangered animals, create safe habitats and fight against illegal hunting. Even small actions like donating money or volunteering can make a difference.
Third, we should try to live in a more environmentally friendly way. 15 Using less paper, saving water and reducing rubbish can all help protect animal living spaces. If everyone makes an effort, we can build a better world for both animals and humans.

The Great Rift Valley
The Great Rift Valley in Africa is one of the most amazing natural wonders on Earth. It stretches over 6,000 kilometers, cutting across more than 20 African countries. Formed by the movement of Earth’s plates, this huge valley has changed the landscape and life of Africa for millions of years. 6
One of the most valuable features of the Great Rift Valley is its unique geological environment. 7 These frequent geological activities have created countless steep mountains, deep lakes and strange rock formations. Unlike common flat plains, the valley has various landforms that attract geologists all over the world to carry out research.
8 The special soil and water conditions here provide perfect living places for rare plants and animals. Many endangered species that can hardly survive in other areas live safely in this valley. Local grasslands and forests also offer rich food resources for wildlife, forming a complete and balanced ecological system.
Besides its natural beauty, the Great Rift Valley is also important for human history. Experts have found a large number of ancient human fossils and simple tools here. 9 Therefore, the valley is widely regarded as the “cradle of human civilization”.
Today, the Great Rift Valley faces some environmental risks. Climate change and human activities such as overgrazing have damaged parts of its ecosystem. 10 Only in this way can we keep this ancient and beautiful natural wonder for future generations.

When you think of jogging, you probably imagine people running at a steady, energetic pace. But have you ever heard of running at a snail’s pace on purpose? 6
Slow jogging has gained worldwide popularity because it solves a common problem that many runners push too hard and end up getting hurt. After decades of research, scientists have found running at a conversational pace is ideal. 7 In other words, you get all the rewards of running without wearing down your body. That is exactly where slow jogging shows its biggest advantage.
The technique itself is surprisingly simple. You run at about 2-4 kilometers per hour, which is actually slower than many people walk. 8 Remember to use short, quick steps so your feet barely leave the ground. This significantly reduces the impact on your knees and joints, making the movement gentle on the body.
9 Studies show that slow jogging for 30 minutes a day, five times a week, can improve heart health, lung function, and even help with weight control. Because it is so gentle, older adults, beginners, and even people recovering from injuries can join in without fear.
Perhaps the best part is how easy it is to get started. 10 Just put on comfortable shoes and head outside. No complicated plans, no pressure to hit a certain speed, but just you and the road. So next time you see someone moving at what looks like a very relaxed run, don’t laugh. They might just be onto something big.
A.This practice is known as “slow jogging”.
B.Slow jogging is of great benefit to your mind.
C.The health benefits go far beyond injury prevention.
D.You don’t need any special equipment or a gym membership.
E.Getting started requires health awareness and great determination.
F.The key skill is to land on the middle of your foot rather than your heel.
G.This pace provides health benefits while carrying a lower risk of injury.

5 We often face challenges and stress in our studies and life. It’s important to find ways to deal with stress, such as having a chat with our friends, listening to music or reading books. Keeping positive can help us overcome difficulties.

C项“These goals might be social, intellectual or physical.”
F项“During the holidays, you might have enjoyed sleeping in or staying up late.”

【答案】1.G 2.F 3.A 4.B 5.D
根据上文 “Sometimes, though, you might forget your appreciation for them.(但有时你会忘记感激他们)” 以及下文 “At these moments, it’s hard not to focus on everything they’re doing ‘wrong’, but there are ways to reset and remind yourself of what you value about them.(在这些时刻,我们难免会盯着他们做得 “不对” 的地方,但其实有办法调整心态,回想自己看重对方的哪些优点)” 可知,空格处引出亲子关系承受压力的时刻。G选项 “There might also be times when your relationship comes under extra pressure.(你们的关系有时也会承受额外压力)” 承上启下。
2.根据上文 “It’s normal for healthy relationships to break down occasionally.(健康的关系偶尔出现裂痕很正常)” 可知,空格处强调修复关系的重要性。F选项 “It’s the making‑up and repairing part that’s important.(和解与修复才是关键)” 承接上文。
3.根据下文 “Building an attitude of gratitude takes time and practice.(培养感恩之心需要时间和练习)” 可知,空格处表示感恩并不容易做到。A选项 “That’s not to say this is easy.(这并不是一件容易的事)” 引出下文。
下文“It might also help to keep in mind that even though the adults in your life can seem all-knowing, they’re actually just ordinary people with strengths and weaknesses. Remember that your parents are learning, too!(记住,你的父母也在学习!)”。
5.上文“It might also help to keep in mind that even though the adults in your life can seem all-knowing, they’re actually just ordinary people with strengths and weaknesses.
【答案】6.D 7.C 8.B 9.G 10.A

空后“Packing (收拾行李) with purpose can actively cut your carbon footprint.(有目的地收拾行李可以积极减少你的碳足迹)”说明有目的地收拾行李可以减少碳足迹。 C“What’s more, it slows you down when you explore a new city(更重要的是,当你探索一个新城市时,它会让你慢下来)”说明减少行李重量可以让你在探索新城市时更轻松,符合语境。
空后“Instead of fighting traffic, you might find hidden treasures by chance, and you’re more likely to meet new people.(与其在车流中穿梭,你可能会偶然发现隐藏的宝藏,而且你更有可能结识新朋友)”说明选择环保出行方式的好处。 B“Changing from taxis to bikes means you’re kind to the environment(从出租车换成自行车意味着你对环境友好)”说明选择自行车这种环保出行方式,符合语境。
9.空后“Be a big believer in asking questions, especially when it comes to a hotel’s impact on people and the planet.(要坚信提问的力量,尤其是当涉及到酒店对人类和地球的影响时)”说明要询问酒店对环境的影响。 G“Ask about your hotel’s carbon footprint(询问你酒店的碳足迹)”符合语境。
10.上文“Even such small efforts can help protect natural beauty for future generations.(即使是这样微小的努力,也能为子孙后代保护自然美景)”说明微小努力的重要性。 A“Your actions make your trip meaningful long after you’ve gone home(你的行为会让你在回家很久之后仍然觉得这次旅行很有意义)”说明这些努力会让旅行变得有意义,符合语境。
A.Knowledge is the first step to action.
B.There are many reasons why wild animals are in danger.
C.They help keep nature balanced and provide great value to humans.
D.This has pushed some rare species to the edge of extinction.
E.Zoos are good places to see different kinds of wild animals.
F.We can plant more trees and reduce pollution in our daily lives.
G.Many wild animals are dying out faster than we can imagine.
【答案】11.C 12.B 13.D 14.A 15.F
上文“Wild animals are an important part of our planet’s ecosystem.(野生动物是地球生态系统的重要组成部分)”说明野生动物的重要地位。
B选项中的“many reasons”与下文中的“One of them”相呼应。
13.上文“Some people hunt wild animals for their fur, horns, or meat to make money.(有些人猎杀野生动物以获取它们的皮毛、角或肉来赚钱)”说明非法狩猎的行为。
14.上文“First, we should learn more about wild animals and the problems they face.(首先,我们应该更多地了解野生动物以及它们面临的问题)”强调了解野生动物的重要性。下文“For instance, we can tell our family and friends not to eat wild animal meat or buy products made from wild animals.(例如,我们可以告诉家人和朋友不要吃野生动物肉或购买野生动物制品)”举例说明了解保护野生动物知识的重要性。 A选项中的“Knowledge”与上文中的“learn more”相呼应。
15.上文“Third, we should try to live in a more environmentally friendly way.(第三,我们应该努力以更环保的方式生活)”提出环保生活的建议。 F选项中的“plant more trees and reduce pollution”与上文中的“environmentally friendly way”相呼应。
For people who are planning a trip, a visit to a museum might not be the first thing they think of. After all, there are plenty of ways to admire the world’s civilization, get exciting experiences and spend nice time with family and friends. 16
Museums are where people learn something new, at every age! Are you interested in something unusual? 17 There, you will find yourself drawn in and encouraged! Museums are a fantastic place to learn about the local history, scientific achievements, big cultural celebrations, and of course, ancient animals. They also design shows about visual (视觉的) arts, industrial inventions and anything that encourages visitors to learn about the past and create new paths to the future.
18 They will surely be an exciting part of the educational experience with the main purpose to disclose children to knowledge of different fields and open up their eyes. To achieve that, museums are working to create meaningful and attracting activities, interactive and knowledge-based.
Museums support tourism. They are tourism pushers in small towns and large cities. Museums aren’t a weight on tax revenue (税收) or a separate attention from other city projects. 19 It is reported that museums support more than 726, 000 jobs in America.
Museums shape communities. They hold activities and shows through which visitors can learn about the local history. Museums are places where a shared estate (遗产) is celebrated and a collective oneness is formed. They provide an interesting public space where people meet and talk to each other. 20
A.Museums often hold kids-centered shows.
B.Museums bring out the best parts of children.
C.Instead, they raise money and create more jobs.

After all, there are plenty of ways to admire the world’s civilization, get exciting experiences and spend nice time with family and friends.(对于计划出行的人来说,参观博物馆可能并非他们首先想到的事情。
17.根据上文“Museums are where people learn something new, at every age! Are you interested in something unusual?(博物馆是人们在各个年龄段都能学到新知识的地方!

To achieve that, museums are working to create meaningful and attracting activities, interactive and knowledge-based.(它们无疑将成为教育过程中极具吸引力的一部分,其主要目的是让孩子们接触到不同领域的知识,并开阔他们的视野。
They are tourism pushers in small towns and large cities. Museums aren’t a weight on tax revenue (税收) or a separate attention from other city projects.(博物馆促进了旅游业的发展。
They hold activities and shows through which visitors can learn about the local history. Museums are places where a shared estate (遗产) is celebrated and a collective oneness is formed. They provide an interesting public space where people meet and talk to each other.(博物馆塑造着社区。
