Tom visited an animal shelter with his classmates. The shelter was an organization which saved different animals and looked after them. The guide shared a lot about the animals with Tom and his classmates. But at the end of the trip, Tom read a sign. It said that the shelter had to close soon because it didn’t have enough money to run itself. Tom asked the guide what he could do to help. The guide said he could tell people that the shelter needed money.
Tom thought about this and later, he told his parents that he knew how to help the shelter—doing a two-week walk. “Before the walk, I could make a vlog about the animals to make people interested in what we’re doing. Then, I could ask people to donate (捐赠) money to help the animals when I finish the walk,” Tom said. “That’s a good idea, Tom. I’ll go with you,” said Dad.
They prepared a lot for the trip. Tom made his vlog carefully and described the shelter and animals he saw. The most important part was the walk. Sometimes the walk was hard because Tom and his dad were both tired and the weather was hot and dry. Every time Tom wanted to stop, he thought of the animal shelter and he continued walking.
Finally, they finished! At the end of the road, they saw Tom’s mom and classmates waiting for them, excited and proud. Many people had enjoyed watching his vlog online and learning about the animals. They wanted to help the shelter because of Tom’s hard work!

Bees are smarter than we think! When a bee finds food, it does a special dance to tell others where to go. The way it dances shows where the food is, and how long it dances tells how far away the food is. However, the bee dance doesn’t always work. Scientists have been puzzled (困惑的) by this for years. Now they have found something new.
In a new study, scientists used a hive (蜂箱) with clear walls to study the bees dancing. The clear walls made it easy for the scientists to record (录制) videos. They trained some bees to get food at a place. These bees returned and danced to show others where to go. The scientists checked the video to see which part of the dance led the other bees to the food.
They found that bees often succeeded when the dance was longer, showing that the food was farther away than it really was. This way, bees would fly past the food, then saw it on their way back, giving them two chances to find it. Also, if all bees danced the same way, they might miss the food more often. Small dance mistakes made bees search more, increasing their chances of finding the food.
36. What things does the bee’s dance tell others?
①The type of food. ②Where the food is.
③How far away the food is. ④The color of the food.
A. ②③ B. ③④ C. ①② D. ①④
37. How did the scientists study the bee dance?
A. By following bees to flowers.
B. By asking beekeepers to watch.
C. By using a clear hive to record videos.
D. By teaching bees a new way of dancing.
38. When were bees more successful in finding food?
A. When the dance was longer. B. When there was no dance.
C. When the dance was shorter. D. When the dance was perfect.
39. What did scientists find about the dance mistakes?
A. They were always harmful.
B. They made the dance perfect.
C. They helped bees to search more.
D. Bees could not find food with them.
40. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. Bees are the smartest insects.
B. How scientists built a clear hive.
C. A new discovery about the bee dance.
D. The bee dance always works perfectly.

A small village in Gansu Province has experienced some exciting changes since last summer—thanks to a new kind of driverless vehicles to send packages.
Lulian Village is far away from the nearest delivery (配送) center. In the past, packages had to be delivered by trucks. But because of the high costs and the poor conditions of roads, delivery was often slow and difficult.
Now, driverless vehicles are taking over the job. These cars look like small trucks with large cameras. Even without a driver, they can travel as fast as 40 km per hour. No matter if it’s sunny or rainy, they can reach Lulian from the center in just 50 minutes to an hour. They always arrive at each stop on time.
These smart cars have also helped local farmers sell their products to more places. With quicker delivery, farmers can send fresh goods to the delivery center on the same day—helping them earn more money.
Some villagers felt a little unsure about the driverless cars at the beginning. But as they got used to them, people began to see how useful they really are. A manager at the village’s delivery station said the cars save him time and make deliveries much faster.
This new way of delivering has made a big difference in the countryside. Now, more towns in China have this kind of driverless cars for delivering.

D. The cars need a driver to control them on the road.
43. What can farmers do with the driverless cars?
A. Learn to drive. B. Buy cheaper food.
C. Grow more crops. D. Send fresh goods quickly.
44. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?

A. ②③ B. ③④ C. ①② D. ①④

A. They were always harmful.
B. They made the dance perfect.
C. They helped bees to search more.

【答案】
Small Actions for a Greener World
As a student, I think it’s my duty to take actions to make the world greener. First, I always walk to school instead of taking a car, which helps reduce air pollution. Second, I remember to shut off the lights when I leave the room to save energy. Third, I use both sides of paper and collect waste paper for recycling. Besides, I often bring my own cloth bag when shopping. Small actions can make a big difference. Let's work together to protect our environment. If everyone does something for our earth, it will become more and more beautiful.
