Cuts: Clean and Cover
Cuts are common and must be treated correctly to avoid infection (感染). First, wash the cut under running water for 5 to 10 minutes. Then dry it in a soft way with a clean towel and cover it with a bandage (绷带) or clean cloth. If the cut is deep or bleeding heavily, press it with a cloth and ask a grown-up for help or call 120. Always keep your hands clean and avoid touching the cut directly.

When you get burned, take first-aid steps right away to reduce pain and damage (损害). Cool the burned area under running water for 10 to 15 minutes. Do not use ice, as it may cause more damage. Cover the burn with a clean, soft cloth. If the burn is large or on the face, hands, or feet, get medical help at once.

If someone asks me, “What’s your superpower?” I’ll proudly reply, “Reading!” Reading is like a magical key that unlocks countless doors to unknown worlds. Whenever I open a book, it’s as if I step into a time machine. I can journey back to ancient Egypt to feel the great power of huge stones. I can also solve mysteries, in foggy cities, or chat with robots in the distant future.
My reading journey began with picture books. I still remember following the colourful illustrations (插图) in an old folktale collection with my tiny fingers. Now, I sometimes lose myself in thick novels. Last month, I stayed up late finishing a story about courage and kindness. The main character’s journey made me laugh and cry, teaching me that true beauty lies in kindness.
Different books give me different super suits. Science books are my astronaut helmet (头盔), sending me into space to see amazing stars. Biographies (传记) become time machines, letting me walk alongside great people in the past. Poetry turns into musical notes, dancing in my heart.
Our school library started a reading-sharing programme this year. Every week, we recommend books to classmates. I once suggested a classic tale about friendship to a classmate who disliked reading. To my surprise, he now carries it everywhere, saying, ”This story has changed my view on how to get along with others!“
A teacher once told me that books are bridges connecting hearts across centuries. I finally understand. When I read timeless beautiful words, I’m whispering with thinkers from the past. How amazing! So, put down your screens, pick up a book, and let’s begin our next exciting journey between the pages!

B.By asking a question.

34. How do we understand the underlined sentence “A teacher once told me that books are bridges connecting hearts across centuries.”
A.Books can be used to build bridges across time.
B.Bridges and books are both important for people’s daily life.

35. What is the purpose of this article?
A.To explain how reading makes a difference to our minds.
B.To prove that thick novels are more attractive than picture books.
C.To encourage readers to pick up books and experience the charm of reading.
D.To advise more students to take an active part in the school reading-sharing programme.

(亮点题)In small villages, people often say hello to their neighbors in stores, on the streets, or outside their homes. But in cities, many people don’t greet their neighbors, even when they are standing in line at a supermarket. A recent study shows that greeting neighbors, especially up to six people a day, is really good for you.
The study has found that greeting others can make you happier. The magic number is six. As you greet more people, your happiness score “increases”, but the score shows no further rise beyond six greetings.
The study was carried out last year and got replies from more than 4,000 people. It tested people’s social happiness, physical happiness, community happiness and more. People who greeted six neighbors had a much higher happiness score than those who didn’t greet anyone.
You might think that saying hello is only about social happiness, but that’s not true. Regular greetings also improve your physical and community happiness. ▲ If you feel your community is safe, it’s more possible for you to talk to people. Walking around your neighborhood can make you feel better physically.
Dan Witters, the leader of the study, said, “We don’t mean that you should know the person well. Just stop and talk to them. The more people you greet, the more chances you have to start a conversation.”
Remember, saying hello regularly is a good way to improve your own happiness.
36. How does the writer lead into the topic?
A.By telling a story.
B.By explaining the reason.
C.By asking a question.
D.By introducing different actions.
37. What does the underlined word “increases” in Paragraph 2 mean?
A.Drops.
B.Rises.
C.Starts.
D.Ends.
38. Which of the following shows the change in happiness score after people greet neighbors?
A.
B.
C.
D.
39. Which sentence can be put in “ ▲ ”?
A.That’s because all of these are joined together.
B.It’s best to greet your neighbors in the morning.
C.Different neighbors can greet you in different ways.
D.The reason is that they have nothing to do with each other.
40. What is the main idea of the passage?
A.The differences between village life and city life.
B.The importance of knowing neighbors well in cities.
C.The good points of greeting neighbors in our daily life.
D.The useful way to help people get to know neighbors.

A.Have robots solve mysteries.

A.By giving some examples.
B.By asking a question.
C.By telling a story.

A.Books can be used to build bridges across time.
B.Bridges and books are both important for people’s daily life.
C.Books are made of materials that can last for centuries like bridges.
D.Through reading, people can communicate with great minds from different times.

A.Drops.

B.
C.
