Perhaps you think you could easily add to your happiness with more money. Strange as it may seem, if youre unsatisfied, the issue is not a lack of means to meet your desires but a lack of desires—not that you cannot satisfy your tastes but that you don’t have enough tastes.
Real riches consist of well-developed and hearty capacities (能力) to enjoy life. Most people are already swamped(淹没) with things. They eat, wear, go and talk too much. They live in too big a house with too many rooms, yet their house of life is a hut.
Your house of life ought to be a mansion (豪宅) , a royal palace. Every new taste, every additional interest, every fresh enthusiasm adds a room. Here are several rooms your house of life should have.
Art should be a desire for you to develop simply because the world is full of beautiful things. If you only understood how to enjoy them and feed your spirit on them, they would make you as happy as to find plenty of ham and eggs when you’re hungry.
Literature, classic literature, is a beautiful, richly furnished room where you might find many an hour of rest and refreshment. To gain that love would go toward making you a rich person, for a rich person is not someone who has a library but who likes a library.
Music like Mozarts and Bachs shouldn’t be absent. Real riches are of the spirit. And when youve brought that spirit up to where classical music feeds it and makes you a little drunk, you have increased your thrills and bettered them. And life is a matter of thrills.
Sports, without which you remain poor, mean a lot in life. No matter who you are, you would be more human, and your house of life would be better supported against the had days, if you could, and did, play a bit.
Whatever rooms you might add to your house of life, the secret of enjoying life is to keep adding.

The way you use your cellphones around your family can have an effect on your relationships. Cellphones can make you feel more connected, but they can also distract(使分心)you and your family from connecting with each other in person. While some people need to check their phones for work or emergency(紧急情况)purposes, it’s important to make meaningful connections through face to face communication.
Some people have trouble putting away their cellphones. They might feel they can’t control how often they pick up their phones or how long they use them. They might feel the need to often check phones without a real reason or feel upset if they don’t have an opportunity to use their phones. Using cellphones for work purposes during family time can increase worries and unhappiness among family members. While using their cellphones, parents talk to their kids less, reply more slowly, and overreact to being interrupted. And ignoring their partner while on the phone is linked to lower relationship satisfaction among couples.
Once you’ve given some thought to your own cellphone use, think about the rules you want your family to follow when you’re together. To get your family on the same page, call a family meeting. Review each person’s current cellphone use and areas where you think some changes might help. It’s not just about simply cutting cellphone use down. Instead, consider what you’re using your phone for and what activities you want to carry out.
For example, are you or your children using phones to stay connected, learn something new, do school work, or do something else If you have kids, ask their opinions on your own phone use. You might be surprised by what they have to share. Use good communication skills by practicing active listening and showing curiosity about what each family member has to say.
Less phone use also usually means less screen time, which enables kids to spend more time outdoors and be more physically active. When teens spend more time actively with their parents, they tend to set higher educational goals.

根据第一段的“The way you use your cellphones around your family can have an effect on your relationships. Cellphones can make you feel more connected, but they can also distract (使分心) you and your family from connecting with each other in person.(你在家人身边使用手机的方式会对你的人际关系产生影响。手机可以让你感觉联系更紧密,但它们也会分散你和家人面对面交流的注意力。)”可知,第一段主要是关于手机的一个缺点。故选C。
29.推理判断题。根据第二段的“They might feel the need to often check phones without a real reason or feel upset if they don’t have an opportunity to use their phones.(他们可能会觉得有必要经常在没有真正理由的情况下查看手机,或者如果他们没有机会使用手机就会感到不安。)”
根据第三段的“To get your family on the same page, call a family meeting.(为了让你的家人达成一致,召集一次家庭会议。)”
通读全文,尤其是第一段的“The way you use your cellphones around your family can have an effect on your relationships. Cellphones can make you feel more connected, but they can also distract (使分心) you and your family from connecting with each other in person.(你在家人身边使用手机的方式会对你的人际关系产生影响。手机可以让你感觉联系更紧密,但它们也会分散你和家人面对面交流的注意力。)”可知,本文主要讲的是过度使用手机对家庭关系的不良影响和如何解决这个问题,因此最好的题目是A选项“Are Cellphones Influencing Family Time (手机影响家庭时间了吗?)”,故选A。
D
The ocean may appear boundless. It’s easy to imagine that fish and other ocean creatures swim freely without restriction. That assumption, however, is mistaken. According to ecologist Karissa Lear, many ocean species stick to specific habitats and seldom go beyond them. This habit can cause unexpectedly big problems, especially when human-built structures get in the way.
Take, for example, the green sawfish living near the mouth of the Ashburton River in Western Australia. In 2017, a large structure was built by the shore, stretching about 550 yards into the sea. As Lear had feared, the construction did harm the critically endangered green sawfish — they were unable to pass around the barrier. To Lear, this discovery supported a surprising new idea that ocean animals, much like land species, need a helping hand getting around human-built structures.
On land, wildlife crossings are becoming more common. Green bridges, for instance, help bears and elk avoid a road in Canada’s Banff National Park. In 2022, a wildlife crossing in Washington State was used more than 5,000 times by animals such as deer and coyotes. Although the bridges are already popular on land, Lear says little attention has been paid to the idea of wildlife crossings designed to help ocean animals get around safely.
For ocean animals, too many barriers can cut them off from important feeding sites. Overly limited movement can lead to the development of isolated groups that are more likely to go extinct. With more large structures planned for the Ashburton River area, Lear says the cumulative (累积的) effect of multiple barriers is a real concern for the green sawfish’s future.
As the climate continues to change, paying attention to the needs of ocean animals is important. Many are moving farther north, and they need suitable habitats to move through. To address this, we can create crossings through human-built structures or protect habitats along their migration routes. As we continue to engineer the ocean, such efforts could go a long way toward protecting ocean life.
32. How does the author present the issue in the first paragraph?
A. By detailing research findings. B. By describing a natural scene.
C. By addressing public concerns. D. By challenging a common belief.
33. What effect did the structure near the Ashburton River have?
A. It provided a new habitat for ocean life.
B. It blocked the path of the green sawfish.
C. It attracted more new species to the area.
D. It drove the green sawfish into deep waters.
34. What does Lear imply about wildlife crossings?
A. They have reduced road accidents on land.
B. They will replace ocean barriers eventually.
C. They have destroyed land animals’ habitats.
D. They are urgently needed for ocean animals.
35. What can be a suitable title for the text?
A. Wildlife Crossings: From Land to Sea B. When Ocean Life Is in Danger
C. The Sawfish That Lost Their Way Home D. Ocean Structures: No Harm Done
D 33. B 34. D 35. A
根据第一段中“The ocean may appear boundless. It’s easy to imagine that fish and other ocean creatures swim freely without restriction. That assumption, however, is mistaken.(海洋似乎无边无际。人们很容易想象鱼类和其他海洋生物可以不受限制地自由游动。然而,这种假设是错误的)”可知,作者通过挑战一个普遍的观念来引出问题。故选D。
【33题详解】
细节理解题。 根据第二段中“As Lear had feared, the construction did harm the critically endangered green sawfish — they were unable to pass around the barrier.(正如Lear所担心的那样,这项工程确实对极度濒危的绿锯鳐造成了伤害——它们无法绕过障碍物)”可知,阿什伯顿河附近的结构阻挡了绿锯鳐的路径。
根据第三段中“Although the bridges are already popular on land, Lear says little attention has been paid to the idea of wildlife crossings designed to help ocean animals get around safely.(尽管这种桥梁在陆地上已经很受欢迎,但Lear表示,专门为帮助海洋动物安全通行而设计的野生动物通道却很少受到关注)”以及第四段中“With more large structures planned for the Ashburton River area, Lear says the cumulative (累积的) effect of multiple barriers is a real concern for the green sawfish’s future.(随着阿什伯顿河地区计划建造更多的大型建筑,Lear表示,多重障碍的累积效应确实令人担忧绿锯鳐的未来)”可推知,Lear暗示海洋动物迫切需要野生动物通道。
根据第三段中“On land, wildlife crossings are becoming more common.(在陆地上,野生动物通道越来越普遍)”、最后一段中“To address this, we can create crossings through human-built structures or protect habitats along their migration routes.(为了解决这个问题,我们可以在人类建造的结构中建立通道,或者保护它们迁徙路线上的栖息地)”以及结合全文可知,本文主要介绍了海洋动物因人类建造的结构面临生存障碍,呼吁建立海洋动物通道以保护其生存。 故选A。
How to Study Less and Learn More
The first thing that you need to realize is that the idea of simply competing on how long you study is flawed(有缺陷的).Many people sit down and try to memorize facts over and over again. ____36___ If you properly link ideas together to see the big picture, studying should only be a brief refresher.
There are ways to boost your studies and make yourself a more efficient student. You have to change the way you look at studying. Here is how you can do it:
____37____. This is taking yourself beyond visualization and making use of your other senses as well. People keep information better when they are in an emotionally aroused state, so use your emotions to make boring ideas easier to remember.
When you are studying, practice explaining everything to yourself as if you are a ten-year-old child. ____38___ , so that they begin to seem obvious to you.
Scan through your text until you encounter an idea that you are not familiar with or are not entirely sure about. When you find these ideas, link them to ideas that you already know. ____39___.
You do not need to spend hours and hours studying once you master the techniques that bring about real learning. ____40___. Our minds can only focus for so long before they start to blank out, take a break every hour mind sharp and your muscles from getting sore.
A. You should be able to simplify most things
B. Write down all the casual facts or concepts
C. One last tip is to stand up and stretch every hour
D. Use all of your senses to connect the information
E. Many learners find it hard to concentrate on too many things
F. Use symbols, metaphors or your fingers to represent these ideas
G. However, too much studying just means you did not learn the information the first time
G 37. D 38. A 39. F 40. C
36. 根据空前“Many people sit down and try to memorize facts over and over again.(许多人坐下来,试图一遍又一遍地记住事实。)”可知,许多人需要反复学习;再根据空后“If you properly link ideas together to see the big picture, studying should only be a brief refresher.
However, too much studying just means you did not learn the information the first time(然而,过多的学习只意味着你没有在第一时间掌握信息)符合语境,且选项中的too much studying对应原文的信息词over and over again。故选G。
根据下文叙述“This is taking yourself beyond visualization and making use of your other senses as well. People keep information better when they are in an emotionally aroused state, so use your emotions to make boring ideas easier to remember.(这让你超越了想象,同时也利用了你的其他感官。当人们处于情绪激动的状态时,他们会更好地记住信息,所以利用你的情绪让无聊的想法更容易记住。)”可知,该段主要叙述“利用你的所有的感官连接信息”。信息词senses与D项Use all of your senses to connect the information(运用你所有的感官把信息联系起来)中的senses相互对应。故选D。
38. 根据上文“When you are studying, practice explaining everything to yourself as if you are a ten-year-old child.(当你学习的时候,把自己当成一个十岁的孩子来练习。)”再根据下文“so that they begin to seem obvious to you.(这样它们对你来说就很明显了。)” You should be able to simplify most things(你应该能够简化大多数事情)承接上下文,且该项中simplify most things对应下文的begin to seem obvious。故选A。
39. 根据上文“Scan through your text until you encounter an idea that you are not familiar with or are not entirely sure about. When you find these ideas, link them to ideas that you already know.(浏览你的文章,直到你遇到一个你不熟悉或不完全确定的观点。当你找到这些想法时,把它们和你已经知道的想法联系起来。)”可知,该空进一步说明具体做法。F项Use symbols, metaphors or your fingers to represent these ideas(用符号、隐喻或你的手指来表达这些想法)中的ideas与上文的信息词an idea相互对应。故选F。
40. 根据上文“You do not need to spend hours and hours studying once you master the techniques that bring about real learning.(一旦你掌握了真正的学习技巧,你就不需要花很多时间来学习了。)” 再根据下文“Our minds can only focus for so long before they start to blank out, take a break every hour mind sharp and your muscles from getting sore.(我们的大脑只能集中注意力很长时间,然后就会开始一片空白,每隔一小时休息一下,思维敏捷,肌肉酸痛。)”可知,C项One last tip is to stand up and stretch every hour(最后一个建议是每小时站起来伸展一下身体)中的every hour与下文的every hour相互对应。

Powerful drumbeats filled the theatre as performers firmly ___56___(strike) large drums in perfect rhythm. This was the opening scene of Drum Music in Dongcang, a traditional drum performance I experienced in Xi'an this summer, and it ___57___ (immediate) caught my attention.
Originating from the drum music of the Tang Dynasty court, the performance told a ___58____ (remark) story of how this ancient art has survived across centuries. The show kicked off as the history ___59___ (introduce) by Mr. Zhao, a 70-year-old drum master. His disciples(徒弟)then stepped onto the stage, delivering forceful performances with dance and erhu music. The steady rhythm of the drums, ___60___ (combine) with carefully designed movements, created a strong sense of history and discipline.
As the performance unfolded, the audience learned that the decline of the Tang Dynasty forced court musicians to leave the palace. They carried the drum music ___61___ them and brought it into ordinary communities. ___62___ had once belonged to the court became something people could hear, learn, and pass on. Over generations, the tradition took root in Xi'an. The message was clear and touching: music is meant ___63___ (share).
Toward the end, when the performers revealed how many years they had spent practising, the audience was deeply moved and responded with enthusiastic ___64___ (applaud). Watching Drum Music in Dongcang was ___65___ experience that left a lasting impression on me.
56. struck
57. immediately
58. remarkable
59. was introduced
60. combined
61. with
62. What
63. to be shared
56. struck
句子分析:这是一个时间状语从句,主句 Powerful drumbeats filled the theatre (主谓宾,过去时),从句 as performers firmly struck large drums in perfect rhythm (主谓宾,过去时),as表示“当……时”。
57. immediately
This was the opening scene of... (主系表),后句 it immediately caught my attention (主谓宾,immediately作状语修饰caught)。
58. remarkable
Originating from the drum music of the Tang Dynasty court 作状语,主句 the performance told a remarkable story of how this ancient art has survived across centuries (主谓宾,remarkable作定语修饰story, how引导宾语从句)。
59. was introduced
句子分析:主句 The show kicked off (主谓,过去时),as引导时间状语从句 as the history was introduced by Mr. Zhao, a 70-year-old drum master (主谓被动,by引出动作发出者)。
60. combined
The steady rhythm of the drums (鼓的稳定节奏),它和动词 combine (结合)是被动关系(节奏被与动作结合),因此用过去分词combined,构成 combined with 短语,表示“与……结合”。故填combined。
句意:稳定的鼓点节奏,再加上精心设计的动作,营造出强烈的历史感和纪律感。
句子分析:主语 The steady rhythm of the drums, combined with carefully designed movements (combined with...作后置定语),谓语 created ,宾语 a strong sense of history and discipline 。
61. with
carry sth. with sb.
They carried the drum music with them (主谓宾+状语),后句 and brought it into ordinary communities (并列谓语,主谓宾+状语)。
62. What
What had once belonged to the court (what在从句中作主语),系动词 became ,表语 something people could hear, learn, and pass on (定语从句修饰something,省略了that)。
63. to be shared
be meant to do sth.
句子分析:冒号后的句子 music is meant to be shared (主谓,be meant to do结构,被动语态),解释说明前面的 The message 。
64. applause
句子分析: audience was deeply moved and responded with enthusiastic applause , with + 形容词 + 名词 表示“带着……的……”,作方式状语。
65. an
Watching Drum Music in Dongcang was an experience that left a lasting impression on me ,动名词短语作主语,that 引导定语从句修饰 experience 。

Hello , everyone!
I'm excited to introduce our group project and its final work, The Campus Bird Handbook.
First, we observed the birds that frequent our campus and took photos of them. Then, we searched for information online to identify each species. The knowledge we gained during the process contributed to the creation of The Campus Bird Handbook, which features ten common bird species. For each species, we provide a vivid picture and information about its living habits. Additionally, some fun facts about them can be found in the handbook.
Birds are an important part of our campus biodiversity. We wish this handbook could spark your interest in our feathered friends.
Thank you for listening!

Sophia and her best friend, Melody, had been inseparable since middle school. Under the sheltering tree of their friendship, they had shared countless laughs and whispered secrets, though they had different personalities: Sophia preferred quiet reading while Melody loved exploring the new city paths on her old bicycle. Even the strongest trees can be shaken by a sudden storm. One afternoon, a small misunderstanding gathered into a dark cloud that threatened their precious bond.
It began with a crucial literature project that would significantly impact their final grade. Sophia, always the planner, had spent the entire afternoon alone in the quiet classroom preparing their presentation. Her fingers moved quickly and skillfully across the keyboard as she arranged slides and typed notes. Each slide was filled with strong arguments and well-chosen pictures that showed how hard she had worked. As evening approached, painting the classroom windows in shades of orange and grey, she kept looking at the clock. Her worry grew with every minute. Melody was late again. The empty chair beside her seemed to laugh at her, making her feel both lonely and angry at the same time.
When Melody finally rushed in, breathless and upset, her explanation came out as a confused mix of words. “I’m so sorry, but my...” she began, only to be cut off by Sophia whose patience had run out. “Something always happens with you! Do you ever stop to consider how your actions affect others?”
The sharp words flew out, and Melody’s initially apologetic expression hardened instantly. “And you always have to control everything! It’s so tiring trying to meet your perfect standards!” she shot back, her voice shaking with strong emotion. The air in the room became thick and difficult to breathe, filled with their hurt feelings and wounded pride. They picked up their books in angry silence, the half-finished project now representing the broken foundation of their friendship. Walking home on different sides of the street, the setting sun created two separate shadows stretching behind them — a perfect picture of the sudden space that had grown between them.

One Possible Version:
That night, Sophia lay in bed, worried about their relationship and the project. Tossing and turning for hours, she couldn’t stop replaying their bitter argument. A wave of guilt washed over her as she thought about how she had cut Melody off without letting her explain. Staring at the half-finished slides, she remembered all the creative ideas Melody had contributed. With a heavy heart, she realized her pursuit of perfection had hurt the person who cared about her most. She picked up her phone and sent Melody a message, asking to meet at the cafe the next day.
The next day, Melody arrived early at the cafe, hoping to continue her interrupted explanation. She sat nervously, twisting a crumpled hospital receipt in her hand. To her surprise, Sophia walked in ten minutes early and apologized sincerely for her rudeness. Tears in her eyes, Melody explained that her neighbor grandma had fallen and she had rushed her to the hospital. Relieved and regretful, they hugged tightly. They spent the rest of the morning finishing the project together, knowing their friendship had grown stronger through this misunderstanding.

24. The author intends to tell us that____________.
A. true happiness lies in achieving wealth by fair means
B. big houses are peoples most valued possessions
C. big houses can in a sense bring richness of life
D. true happiness comes from spiritual riches
25. The underlined sentence in the second paragraph probably implies that__________.
A. however materially rich, they never seem to be satisfied
B. however materially rich, they remain spiritually poor
C. though their house is big, they prefer a simple life
D. though their house is big, it seems to be a cage
26. It can be learned from the passage that __________.
A. more money brings more happiness
B. art is needed to make your house beautiful
C. literature can enrich your spiritual life
D. sports contribute mainly to your physical fitness
27. What would be the best title for the passage?
A. House of Life B. Secret of Wealth
C. Rest and Refreshment D. Interest and Enthusiasm

28.What’s the first paragraph mainly about
A.Family members’ connections. B.Cellphones’ new challenges at home.
C.One disadvantage of the cellphones. D.People’s staying away from cellphones.
29.How do some people feel when they have no phone at hand
A.Uneasy. B.Uncertain. C.Curious. D.Homesick.
30.Why should a family meeting be held
A.To carry out activities. B.To reach an agreement.
C.To share the latest news. D.To set an example to others.
31.What can be the best title for the text
A.Are Cellphones Influencing Family Time
B.Are Mobile Phones Changing People’s Life
C.How Can People Get Along with Their Parents
D.How Do Children Set Right Educational Goals
