On April 1, 2025, China introduced new rules to better use these cameras. The rules make it clear who can install (安装) them and where they can be placed. According to the rules, only relevant (相关的) government departments and management units can set up public cameras.
The rules don’t allow cameras in places like hotel rooms and changing rooms.
So can we still install a camera at our front door? The answer is yes. Professor Liu Weijun from the People’s Public Security University of China told CCTV that the area in front of your house isn’t public, so you can use it for safety. However, it shouldn’t harm others’ private lives or safety.
The new rules also explain how people can use the videos. They are only for legal (合法的) reasons, like solving crimes and emergency response (应急救援). For example, if a child goes missing, the family can watch the video after being allowed, Professor Che Hao from Peking University told People’s Daily.
The rules also explain how to check camera use in our daily lives to protect privacy. Cameras in public areas must have clear signs. If you see a camera without a sign, you can report it to the police.

A popular social media topic is all about counting the number of “r” s in “strawberry”. ChatGPT thinks there are two “r” s, and surprisingly, other AI models also have trouble with this basic counting task.
Why do these smart AI chatbots have trouble with such a simple question? The answer lies in how differently they understand words compared to us.
When we look at “strawberry”, we see it as a word made up of individual letters, and counting them is a breeze. But AI depends on a process called tokenization (分词法). This means it chops words into smaller pieces. For example, it could split (拆分) “strawberry” into “straw” and “berry”. Or, if the word often appears in its training data, it might treat “strawberry” as one single unit.
So, when you ask AI to count the “r” s in “strawberry”, it doesn’t actually examine each letter closely. Instead, it focuses on these larger parts, which causes it to overlook details that we humans can see easily.
These days, we often turn to AI for quick answers. While these tools are powerful, they’re far from perfect. They have their limits (局限) and can make basic errors (错误). Understanding how AI works and its limitations helps us use it more wisely. The “strawberry” test serves as a clear reminder: We should always double-check the information AI provides. Even the most advanced AI can make simple mistakes.
51. How many “r” s does ChatGPT think are there in “strawberry”?
ChatGPT thinks there are ________________ “r” s in “strawberry”.
52. How does the writer ask us to understand “AI depends on a process called tokenization”?
By ________________.
53. What word means “忽略” in Paragraph 4?
It’s “________________”.
54. What does the writer think about the AI tools?
The writer thinks they are powerful but they have their ________________.
55. What can we learn from the “strawberry” test?
We can learn that we should always ________________.
