In late March 2026, a French rider won two races in a row on a motorcycle made by Chinese brand ZX Moto in Portugal. It was the first time a Chinese motorcycle brand won such an important world race. Behind this success is Zhang Xue, the founder of ZX Moto. His story tells us passion and persistence can help us make big dreams come true.
Zhang Xue was born in a poor mountain village in Hunan. He fell in love with motorcycles after riding his classmate’s bike in junior high. At 14, he left school and worked in a motorcycle repair shop to get close to his dream.
His work was tiring. He got up early every day to clean the shop and fix bikes, working more than 10 hours a day. His hands were always oily and often hurt, but he never gave up. He studied bikes carefully every night to learn more about them. Later, Zhang found that China couldn’t make good racing bikes at that time. So he decided to build them himself. In 2013, he went to Chongqing with little money, started a small shop and then set up ZX Moto. He kept working hard for over 10 years.
In 2026, ZX Moto took part in a world race. Many people asked him to wait, but he stuck to (坚持) his decision. Finally, his motorcycle helped the rider win. From Zhang’s story, we can learn that no dream is too big if we never give up.

C
“Five more minutes” is the first thought of many people when their alarms ring in the morning. This first thought is usually followed by hitting the snooze button (稍后提醒按键) and falling back asleep for a few more moments. Hitting the snooze button has become a habit for millions of people, but it is time to examine this habit and develop new habits for feeling more rested during the day.
Though hitting the snooze button allows people a few more minutes of sleep, it causes unhealthy sleep patterns (模式). Most people think if they are tired when they first wake up, they need more sleep. However, they are mistaken when they conclude that any sleep is good sleep. Sleeping is a process with different cycles. To feel fully rested, the body must go through all the sleep cycles. Falling back asleep after hitting the snooze button restarts the process, but when the alarm rings again several minutes later, the process is interrupted. The body has not gone through all the cycles, and this can cause the body to feel sleepy for the rest of the day. This sleepiness can affect memory, the ability to make choices, and performance at work or school.
Sleepiness may also happen if the body’s biological rhythm (规律) is interrupted. People normally fall asleep at night and wake up in the morning because their rhythms are operating naturally. The rhythms are affected by repeated use of the snooze button, which can cause feelings of sleepiness during the day and an inability to fall asleep at night.
Rather than depending on the snooze button, people need to consider developing different routines. The easiest choice is to put the alarm on the other side of the room. Having to get out of bed to turn it off decreases the possibility of hitting the snooze button. Another choice, if your routine allows it, is to just reset the alarm. Setting your alarm for 30 minutes later will make the whole sleep process longer instead of always restarting it.
Though a few extra minutes of sleep may seem to promise a better start to the day, hitting that snooze button creates an unhealthy sleep pattern.
28. What is paragraph 2 mainly about?
A. What unhealthy sleep patterns most people have.
B. What people should do to feel fully rested in the daytime.
C. Why a few minutes of sleep after first waking up causes bad effects.
29. What does the underlined word “interrupted” in Paragraph 2 mean?
A. 被打断 B. 被推进 C. 被影响
30. What can we learn from the passage?
A. Hitting the snooze button helps people fall asleep at night.
B. Repeated use of the snooze button helps people feel more energetic.
C. Putting the alarm a bit far from the bed helps form healthy sleep habits.
31. Which of the following would be the best title for the passage?
A. Don’t Wake Up Late!
B. Snooze: An Unhealthy Sleep Pattern
C. Snooze: A Good Way to Avoid Sleepiness
【答案】28. C 29. A 30. C 31. B
【解析】
【导语】本文主要介绍了早上按贪睡键是不健康的睡眠习惯,解释该习惯打乱睡眠周期、破坏生物钟带来的负面影响,并给出改掉该习惯的可行办法。

文章第2段“Though hitting the snooze button allows people a few more minutes of sleep...This sleepiness can affect memory, the ability to make choices, and performance at work or school.”解释了早起后多睡几分钟会产生不良影响的原因。
【29题详解】
文章第2段“Falling back asleep after hitting the snooze button restarts the process, but when the alarm rings again several minutes later, the process is interrupted.”表明闹钟响起会打断未完成的睡眠周期,interrupted意为“被打断”。
【30题详解】
文章第4段“The easiest choice is to put the alarm on the other side of the room. Having to get out of bed to turn it off decreases the possibility of hitting the snooze button.”
最后一段也总结说“hitting that snooze button creates an unhealthy sleep pattern”。因此,选项B最能概括文章主旨。

24. When did Zhang Xue start to work in a motorcycle repair shop?
A. At the age of 12. B. At the age of 14. C. In 2026.
25. We can infer from the passage that Zhang Xue is a ________ person.
A. lazy and careless B. patient and persistent C. rich and lucky
26. What can we learn from Zhang Xue’s experience?
A. It’s easy to realize big dreams.
B. Chinese motorcycle brands are always the best in the world.
C. Hard work and never giving up help make dreams come true.
27. What’s the main idea of the passage?
A. A French rider won two world races in Portugal.
B. Zhang Xue built a famous motorcycle brand in Chongqing.
C. How Zhang Xue made his motorcycle dream come true through hard work.

First, please keep your phones on silent. This helps everyone enjoy the exhibits quietly. Second, look with your eyes, not with your hands. Some of the models are very old and touching them could cause damage. Third, please walk calmly and speak softly inside the museum. Running or shouting isn't allowed. If you're looking for the dinosaur area that's upstairs on the second floor later this morning, there's a robot show at ten fifteen on the third floor near the big earth model. Thank you for coming. I am glad to be your guy today. Let's have a wonderful trip together. Good morning, everyone. I'm mary Brown. Welcome to the science museum. Before we start, please remember a few important rules.
