Between 2025 and 2030, artificial intelligence will reshape the labor market. While headlines swing between panic and optimism, data reveals a complex reality. Job Displacement vs Task Automation vs Job Exposure Job Displacement Task Automation Job Exposure A job is removed or the number of employees is cut for good because AI or automation makes the position economically unnecessary. Specific tasks within a job are automated, but the role itself continues to exist — often with higher output expectations or fewer people performing it. A job contains tasks that AI can assist with or perform, even if full automation is not technically or economically practical. “Job displacement” is frequently misunderstood. Most impact occurs through task automation or job exposure rather than full job replacement. In practice, this means workers are more likely to experience job transformation, wage pressure, or slower hiring. As shown below, the automation risk varies significantly by sector (行业): Sector Category Automation Risk Key Characteristics High-Risk Up to 80% Repetitive tasks (e. g., Customer Service, Data Entry). Medium-Risk Gradual Shift Role compression via productivity gains (e. g., Manufacturing). Low-Risk Highly Stable Complex human interaction (e. g., Healthcare, Skilled Trades). The World Economic Forum estimates that while AI may displace 85-92 million jobs globally by 2030, it is expected to create 97–170 million new roles, resulting in net global job growth. However, this positivity masks a critical issue: accessibility. Most emerging roles demand advanced technical skills, with roughly 77% requiring a master’s degree. This creates a serious problem; displaced workers often face barriers preventing them from transitioning into these high-value roles. Thus, net positive employment does not guarantee a smooth transition for everyone. Ultimately, AI removes the tolerance for average performance. Workers should focus on building AI competence and decision-making skills that work well with rather than compete with technology. Meanwhile, businesses must prioritize active reskilling and role redesign to enhance human potential instead of pursuing blind automation. 1. What do we know about Job Exposure? A. Some tasks have been automated. B. Job automation is not practical. C. AI can handle part of a job’s tasks. D. It leads to the complete loss of jobs. 2. What is the main challenge behind the net job growth? A. AI creates fewer jobs than it replaces. B. Displaced workers refuse to learn new things. C. Companies are not willing to hire more new staff. D. Job quantity and worker qualifications don’t match. 3. What is the priority for businesses according to the text? A. Replacing humans with full automation. B. Lowering the standards for average workers. C. Investing in developing workers’ new abilities. D. Competing directly with advanced technology. B In a busy community hall, a volunteer sits at a sewing machine, mending (修补) someone’s much-loved dress, while at another table, household tools are fixed. This is the Share and Repair Café, run by Transition Crich, a “share and repair” project, in the village of Crich. This project began five years ago, when the local magazine asked if anyone was interested in coming together as volunteers to make their village become more sustainable and environmentally friendly. “We’ve grown from just mending items to having craft activities, a café area, and stands from local groups,” says committee member Linda. Crucially, the group doesn’t charge for its services. “You don’t have to pay for your repairs. We just ask for donations to cover our costs,” says Linda. Alan volunteers at the Share and Repair Café as part of the sharpening service, helping give new life to everything from kitchen knives to garden tools. “The community in Crich have been, and continue to be, an amazing support to my family, following my cancer diagnosis (诊断),” he says. “Getting involved has helped shape a positive mindset, and helped extend my time on the planet. Giving something back is the least I can do.” This commitment to action is evident in other projects Transition Crich facilitates. A fashion show is coming up, too. People will write their creative ideas about sustainable clothing on pieces of fabric to call on individuals to fight against fast fashion. A photography competition encourages people to take photos while being cognizant of nature. The group also works with a junior school on environmental awareness projects, helping young students learn to mend their connection to the natural world. Whether a volunteer or event attendee, the community benefit greatly from being involved with Transition Crich. As we all know, loneliness isn’t reserved for one particular group of society. What makes inclusion initiatives like Transition Crich truly wonderful is their ability to mend the gaps between generations, bringing together people of different ages in ways that might otherwise be hard to achieve. 4. What inspired the start of the “share and repair” project? A. A repaired item. B. A donation campaign. C. A volunteer appeal. D. A classic handcraft. 5. What does the sharpening service bring to Alan? A. An optimistic attitude to life. B. Better treatments of cancer. C. A steady economic support. D. Improved professional skills. 6. What does the underlined word “cognizant” in paragraph 4 probably mean? A. Analytical. B. Mindful. C. Curious. D. Independent. 7. What is the best title of the text? A. Friends Who Mend B. Donations That Count C. Sharing Coffee, Enjoying Lives D. Designing Projects, Meeting Locals C London-based startup Brilliant Planet has rented 6,100 hectares of land in southern Morocco, situated between the Atlantc Ocean and the Sahara. And it’s using it to grow algae (藻类), which absorbs atmospheric carbon dioxide and sends out oxygen. Brilliant Planet’s CEO Adam Taylor says the company has developed a way to grow algae at extreme rates starting in a glass cup in a lab and ending in 12,000-square-meter pools of locally-sourced seawater. The algae is obtained from the water then pumped up a 10-story tower and sprayed into the desert air. In the 30 seconds or so it takes to reach the ground, hot air dries the biomass (生物质) out, leaving hypersaline (超盐的) algae pieces which can be collected and shallow buried, sequestering (使隔绝) their carbon for thousands of years. “Nature-based solutions are a great way of removing carbon,” Taylor said. “Deserts are an underused environment. It does not cost a lot of money to rent the desert. What’s more, you’re not competing with farms or forests. You’re out of the way, not bothering people.” Taylor claims that Brilliant Planet’s solution can permanently remove 30 times more carbon dioxide from the atmosphere per hectare per year than a typical European forest. Brilliant Planet’s goal is to remove one million metric tons of carbon dioxide per year by the end of the decade.“Globally, we’ve identified about half a million square kilometers of flat desert-ocean land where it works,” Taylor said, adding that the company hopes to set up in Namibia next. Fatna Ikrame El Fanne, an environmental engineer, described the use of algae as “a new and promising strategy” that “is a typical example of innovative use of natural process to address an urgent global issue.” Nevertheless, she expressed caution. “Microalgae production on a large scale might damage local ecosystems, lead to overuse of water resources, and change habitats,” she said. There’s an acknowledgement that one company can’t do it all — and can’t go it alone. “We are part of a group of probably 40 to 50 wonderful ideas of how people can remove carbon from the atmosphere,” Taylor said, calling for “a Manhattan Project-type attitude” to tackling carbon capture. Whether algae is the solution the world needs remains to be seen. But the idea’s growing on people. 8. What does Paragraph 2 mainly tell us about Brilliant Planet? A. Its establishment of an algae plant. B. Its method of growing algae. C. Its process of carbon capture. D. Its daily routine in the desert. 9. What advantage did Taylor highlight about using deserts for carbon removal? A. Huge profits. B. High temperature. C. No occupation of rich land. D. No biodiversity concerns. 10. What can be inferred about the use of algae from El Fanne’s words? A. It needs improving. B. It is highly efficient. C. It is not worth promoting. D. It is commercially developed. 11. Why is “a Manhattan Project- type attitude” mentioned in the last paragraph? A. To highlight the challenges of carbon removal. B. To recognize the contributions of Brilliant Planet. C. To prove the effectiveness of nature-based solutions. D. To emphasize the necessity of joint efforts. Choosing a career path is difficult, and the decision never becomes easier as you grow older. ____12____ Their advice is to choose what you love and make your passion your source of income. But should passion be the main factor when deciding on a career? When someone participates in an activity they love, they’re happier. Many link this happiness to increased motivation, resulting in professional growth even during tough times. ____13____ Accordingly, individuals prove that the saying “Turn your passion into a job, and the money will follow” can be true. However, the quote overlooks that people may have multiple passions. For that reason, some choose to pursue their passion outside of work in the hope of not regretting limiting themselves to one love. Another misunderstanding is that one has to master what they’re passionate about. While passion pushes you to learn, one can be passionate about dancing but not necessarily good at it. ____14____ Ultimately, the decision comes down to you. If you fear your passion evolving into a burden, perhaps you can find a job leaving you time to create art after work. Instead, maybe your passion is the necessary fuel that guides you to work your hardest. ____15____ There will be uninteresting tasks required to turn your passion into income. ____16____ While getting asked “What are you passionate about?” can be stressful, here is a secret: Try everything. Even if you try a million things and can’t find what you love, you’ll learn what you don’t like. These discoveries can be just as important. A. Passion can push you to spare no efforts. B. If so, remember that it won’t always be fun. C. In tough times, your passion will fade away. D. Luckily, some claim to have found the secret. E. Actually, few individuals know what their passion is. As the leader of the school photography club, I was assigned to organize the recruitment presentation for my club. Desperate to impress potential members, my teammates and I buried ourselves in preparation. We made a lengthy PPT packed with lists of awards, strict regulations and complicated techniques, convinced that such a professional and detailed presentation would definitely win students’ recognition. Full of confidence, we stepped onto the campus playground, ready to shine. However, the reality gave us a cold shower. As I delivered our prepared speech mechanically, students merely cast quick glances at our booth (摊位) before hurrying away. No one stopped to ask questions or sign up. The air around us grew awkwardly silent while other clubs were surrounded by laughter and cheers. Our carefully built stage attracted zero audience, leaving me standing there with a pile of useless leaflets, feeling defeated and puzzled. That night back home, I poured out my frustration to my mother. Complaining about how nobody appreciated our well-polished slides and serious introduction, I felt deeply wronged. “We showed them everything valuable,” I whispered, “but they just didn’t care.” My mother listened quietly without interrupting. She was taking the skin off an orange and handed me a piece. She smiled and said, “Think about a shop owner trying to sell fresh oranges. If he only talks about the tree’s history and planting rules, customers will leave. But if he offers a small piece for them to taste the sweetness, they will line up to buy.” Her words struck me like lightning. I suddenly realized we had been forcing students to swallow our “whole orange” instead of letting them taste the fun of capturing beautiful moments. Without hesitation, I began to revise our strategy completely. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The next day, our new-style recruitment began. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $听力考试正式开始。 Mary, how did you build such a large vocabulary? There are nice choices for my next story. But this time I want to set the scene along the coast. So we have to go to the neighboring city. We can take . the train. Good idea. I'll take the schedule tonight. Let's pack light and keep our plans open. Adventure needs space. Lucy, look at this poster I made for the ocean protection contest. I think IT looks really nice. IT is colorful, but let me tell you why IT didn't work out. You put too many, see animals and tourists. The whole design is too busy. I don't know what you want to convey. Oh, I see. I focused only on looks and ignored the main message. You're really creative and good at drawing. Just make a new one. If the deadline is not yet do thanks. I'll start working on a new one right away. Wait till you finish your pizza first. You'll need energy for your new creation. The deadline is tomorrow, so i've got no time to waste. Don't stay up too late. If you made any problem, come to the living room. I will be here watching T. V. later. I'll prepare some snacks for you. Lucy. You didn't get into a fight with your classmates, did you? No, we held a class meeting today where our teachers screen short films about our parents hard work. When I watched IT, I felt so sorry for mom and dad. I know they're really tired. I've been so selfish. Last week, I got angry with mum just because he kept urging me to put down my phone and focus on study. I'm ashamed of what I did to her. I should be more understanding. I get IT. I've also been lazy. Sometimes I seldom help around the house. I want to change. I'll study hard, listen to them and not be willful anymore. Me too, let's help with chores more often. So mom and dad can relax. Yeah, mom will get back home at about six, and we have half an hour to go. Lets get started. Just imagine how delighted mom will be to see the . neat room. Good idea. And we can also help mom cook dinner. Tommy, what's wrong? You got red eyes. I just feel so down in heartbroken. Did someone upset you at school? C 2. D 3. 根据原文表格中关于“Job Exposure”的定义“A job contains tasks that AI can assist with or perform(一份工作包含AI可以协助或执行的任务)”可知,Job Exposure意味着AI能够处理某项工作中的部分任务。 根据原文倒数第二段中“Most emerging roles demand advanced technical skills, with roughly 77% requiring a master’s degree. This creates a serious problem; displaced workers often face barriers preventing them from transitioning into these high-value roles.(大多数新兴岗位要求具备高级技术技能,约77%的岗位需要硕士学位。这造成了一个严重的问题;被取代的工人往往面临无法转型进入这些高价值岗位的障碍)”可知,虽然工作岗位总量在增加,但失业工人的资质无法满足新岗位的要求,两者并不匹配。 【3题详解】 推理判断题。根据原文最后一段中“Meanwhile, businesses must prioritize active reskilling and role redesign to enhance human potential instead of pursuing blind automation.(同时,企业必须优先考虑积极的技能重塑和角色重新设计以提升人类潜力)”可知,企业的当务之急是投入资源去培养员工的新能力,以适应AI时代的发展。 B In a busy community hall, a volunteer sits at a sewing machine, mending (修补) someone’s much-loved dress, while at another table, household tools are fixed. Designing Projects, Meeting Locals 【答案】4. C 5. A 6. B 7. 根据第二段“This project began five years ago, when the local magazine asked if anyone was interested in coming together as volunteers to make their village become more sustainable and environmentally friendly.(这个项目始于五年前,当时当地杂志询问是否有人有兴趣作为志愿者聚集在一起,使他们的村庄变得更加可持续和环保。)” 根据第三段“Getting involved has helped shape a positive mindset, and helped extend my time on the planet. Giving something back is the least I can do.(参与其中帮助我塑造了积极的心态,也延长了我在世上的时光。回馈社区是我至少能做的事。)”可知,参与这个活动给艾伦带来了乐观的生活态度。故选A。 根据后文“The group also works with a junior school on environmental awareness projects, helping young students learn to mend their connection to the natural world.(该组织还与一所小学合作开展环保意识项目,帮助年轻学生重建他们与自然世界的联系。)” 根据最后一段“Whether a volunteer or event attendee, the community benefit greatly from being involved with Transition Crich. As we all know, loneliness isn’t reserved for one particular group of society. What makes inclusion initiatives like Transition Crich truly wonderful is their ability to mend the gaps between generations, bringing together people of different ages in ways that might otherwise be hard to achieve.(无论是志愿者还是活动参与者,社区都能从参与Transition Crich中受益匪浅。众所周知,孤独并不是社会某一特定群体的专属。像Transition Crich这样的包容性倡议之所以真正出色,是因为它们能够修补代际之间的差距,以其他方式难以实现的方式将不同年龄的人聚集在一起。)”可知,文章主要讲述了Transition Crich项目修补了代际之间的差距,让人们之间的关系更紧密,所以选项A“修补友谊”适合作为文章标题。故选A。 C London-based startup Brilliant Planet has rented 6,100 hectares of land in southern Morocco, situated between the Atlantc Ocean and the Sahara. C 9. C 10. A 11. 根据第二段“The algae is obtained from the water then pumped up a 10-story tower and sprayed into the desert air. In the 30 seconds or so it takes to reach the ground, hot air dries the biomass (生物质) out, leaving hypersaline (超盐的) algae pieces which can be collected and shallow buried, sequestering (使隔绝) their carbon for thousands of years.(从水中提取藻类,然后泵入一座10层楼高的塔,喷洒到沙漠的空气中。在到达地面的30秒左右的时间里,热空气将生物质干燥,留下高盐分的藻类碎片,这些藻类可以被收集并浅埋,将它们的碳封存数千年)”可知,本段在介绍利用海藻吸收二氧化碳的过程。故选C项。 【9题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“Deserts are an underused environment. It does not cost a lot of money to rent the desert. What’s more, you’re not competing with farms or forests. You’re out of the way, not bothering people.(沙漠是一个未被充分利用的环境。租用沙漠并不需要花很多钱。更重要的是,你不会与农场或森林竞争。你不碍事,不打扰别人)”可知,泰勒强调了利用沙漠去除碳的优势是不占用肥沃的土地。故选C项。 【10题详解】 推理判断题。根据倒数第二段“Nevertheless, she expressed caution. “Microalgae production on a large scale might damage local ecosystems, lead to overuse of water resources, and change habitats,” she said.”(然而,她表示谨慎。 故选A项。 根据最后一段“There’s an acknowledgement that one company can’t do it all — and can’t go it alone.“We are part of a group of probably 40 to 50 wonderful ideas of how people can remove carbon from the atmosphere,” Taylor said, calling for “a Manhattan Project-type attitude” to tackling carbon capture.(人们承认,一家公司不可能包揽一切,也不可能单打独斗。 Choosing a career path is difficult, and the decision never becomes easier as you grow older. F. The love for their passion outweighs negative moments. G. For them, enjoying the activity regardless of skill level is the most important. D 13. F 14. G 15. B 16. 【12题详解】 根据前文“Choosing a career path is difficult, and the decision never becomes easier as you grow older.(选择职业道路很困难,而且随着年龄增长,这个抉择并不会变得更容易)”以及后文“Their advice is to choose what you love and make your passion your source of income.(他们的建议是选择自己热爱的事物,让激情成为收入的来源)”可知,前文提出择业难题,后文引出他人的择业秘诀与建议,D选项“Luckily, some claim to have found the secret.(幸运的是,有些人声称找到了秘诀)”承接前文困难,引出后文这些人的建议,符合语境。 【13题详解】 根据前文“When someone participates in an activity they love, they’re happier. Many link this happiness to increased motivation, resulting in professional growth even during tough times.(当人们参与自己热爱的活动时,会更加快乐。 【14题详解】 根据前文“Another misunderstanding is that one has to master what they’re passionate about. While passion pushes you to learn, one can be passionate about dancing but not necessarily good at it.(另一个误区是人们必须精通自己热爱的事物。 【15题详解】 根据前文“Ultimately, the decision comes down to you. If you fear your passion evolving into a burden, perhaps you can find a job leaving you time to create art after work. Instead, maybe your passion is the necessary fuel that guides you to work your hardest.(最终,决定权在你。 B选项“If so, remember that it won’t always be fun.(如果是这样,请记住它不会总是充满乐趣)”中的“If so”指代前文选择将热情作为职业的情况,后文进一步解释原因,符合语境。 【16题详解】 根据后文“While getting asked “What are you passionate about?” can be stressful, here is a secret: Try everything. Even if you try a million things and can’t find what you love, you’ll learn what you don’t like.(当被问到“你对什么充满热情?” During my childhood, I always felt confused about my mother’s special way of hiring workers for Paak Dang. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Without hesitation, I began to revise our strategy completely. We decided to abandon the rigid PPT and strict regulations. Instead, we aimed to let students experience the charm of photography firsthand. My teammates and I selected our most eye-catching photos — vivid images of campus life — and set up an interactive “photo corner.” We even brought spare cameras for beginners to try out. Our goal shifted from merely displaying professionalism to offering a sweet “taste” of the joy of photography. The next day, our new-style recruitment began. As soon as the colorful photo corner was set up, curious students were instantly drawn in. Attracted by the vivid pictures, they couldn’t wait to pick up the cameras and capture their own unique angles. Laughter and excitement filled the air as we shared simple tips.
