In 2010, the American traveled to the Wudang Mountains, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site in central China’s Hubei Province, to learn martial arts(武术). Pinnick said he was very interested in Chinese kung fu from a young age. When Pinnick first arrived in the Wudang Mountains, he had no training or martial arts experience, so he began with a five-year training program, learning the basics and all about Taoist culture. Pinnick said the first six months were the hardest, because he had to train for eight or nine hours, six days a week, whatever the temperature outside. After over a decade of hard training, he has mastered various forms of Chinese kung fu, including Tai Chi and qigong, and become an instructor with about 200 apprentices(学徒) in China. He likes the Spring Festival and the traditions here. He also teaches his daughter Selina Lee Pinnick these traditions. As the new year begins, people are starting new chapters in their lives and making resolutions. Pinnick also has many plans and wishes —he plans on making more efforts to learn the Chinese language this year. In addition to learning Chinese, Pinnick will continue to learn about traditional Chinese culture and how to play Chinese musical instruments in his leisure time, and he will share his experience on social media. “I think that my experience of coming to China as a foreigner to learn the culture from the outside is unique. I hope to introduce Chinese kung fu and traditions to more westerners,”he said. 4.What was Pinnick’s main reason for traveling to the Wudang Mountains?( ) A.To learn Chinese kung fu. C篇 As an important part of our everyday life, music is increasingly being used in medical treatment. Besides proving very useful in cancer treatments, managing long-term pain and even helping the brain recover after a stroke(中风), music has been used to help patients with dementia(痴呆). It reduces patients' anxiety and stress, lifts their spirits, and improves their performance at work. So why does music appear to have such a powerful effect on people with dementia? About ten years ago, researchers discovered that when people listened to music, many areas of the brain took part in processing it. Research has also shown that music might help the brain and its connections grow strong again. It is believed that music could help people with dementia by fixing or strengthening damaged neural(神经系统的) connections and cells. It's not any music that has a great effect on the brain, though. Familiar and favourite music has been shown to have the biggest influence on the way we feel and is closely connected with memory and emotions. This is because listening to our favourite songs helps to produce feel-good hormones that give us a sense of pleasure. During and after listening to favourite music, people with dementia experienced less pain and anxiety, and their general feelings improved. Other researchers have even begun testing the effects of music training programs on people with dementia. Results have been promising so far, with adults in the study showing improved conditions, compared to those who only took part in physical exercise. So, music is likely to continue to be a useful medical treatment for people with dementia. But on the basis of what we have known so far, it's important that it should come from the patient's own music collection and be used together with other medical treatments such as taking medicine. 8.How can music help patients with dementia?( ) A.By removing damaged neural cells. B.By stopping the damage to neural cells. C.By using fewer brain areas for processing. D.By repairing and strengthening brain connections. 9.What can drive music's positive effects on dementia?( ) A.The style of the music. B.The length of the music. C.Patients' familiarity with the music. D.Patients' understanding of the music. 10.What can we learn about the music treatment from the last two paragraphs?( ) A.It must be combined with other treatments. B.It has the same effect as physical exercise. C.It has immediate effects on physical condition. D.It works better for patients with a larger music collection. 11.What is the main focus of the text?( ) A.The history of the music treatment. B.The benefits of music to dementia. C.The connection between music and brain. D.The role of hormones in the music treatment. D篇 Dogs do more than people think. They comfort patients in hospitals and students on college campuses and even help scientists track endangered species. Now, these multi-skilled dogs are being used to help rewild an urban nature reserve(保护区) in England. All they have to do is walk around while they're wearing special holey backpacks filled with seeds. The pilot project is underway at a 25-acre park in Lewes, a small town in East Sussex, England, about 50 miles south of London. The protected area includes wet woodlands, ponds, floodplains and so on. The park gets a lot of foot traffic from both humans and dogs, which has caused some areas to become damaged. Park managers learned about a creative rewilding project in Chile: After wildfires in 2017, three dogs wearing seed-filled backpacks helped restore the landscape. Inspired by this, the managers recruited(招募) ten pet dogs, equipped them with special backpacks, and sent them to a wooded area that had lost most of its ground plants, including grasses and wildflowers. The backpacks were filled with seeds of 23 plants. Sand was mixed in to track the dogs' movements. Some trees were cut back to let in more sunlight. Dogs, like wolves, are well-suited for spreading seeds as they explore areas humans don't usually go to. They mimicked the behavior of wolves, which once wandered long distances, spreading seeds with their fur to new places. The project leader, Dylan Walker, noted that rewilding often involved reintroducing large herbivores(食草动物), which was impractical in an urban reserve. Some plants have already started growing, and park managers expect more flowers next spring. The project is also helping to change people's opinions of dogs, as they are often considered as hateful animals by environmentalists. Walker suggests reconsidering dogs and their owners as heroes for nature. 12.What do the dogs need to do in the rewilding project in England?( ) A.Comfort visitors in the urban nature reserve. B.Move around carrying packs with seeds inside. C.Find out harmful objects in the 25-acre park. D.Track endangered species in the protected area. 13.What does the underlined word “mimicked” in paragraph 4 mean?( ) A.Influenced. B.Explored. C.Followed. D.Changed. 14.What does Walker think of the role of dogs in rewilding?( ) A.They can be nature protectors. B.They are more harmful than helpful. C.They are worse than large herbivores. D.They should be kept away from reserves. 15.Which is the best title for the text?( ) A.Seed-Filled Backpacks for Dogs B.A New Park Management Method C.Dogs: Unlikely Heroes in Rewilding D.Wolves: The Enemies of Large Herbivores 二、七选五。 We all know that keeping fish brings comfort and peace for adults — or at least, we are in a better mood after looking at our fish for a while. But what about kids? 1. ___ Taking care of something that depends on them teaches kids responsibility. It helps them realize that what they do is important and that sometimes things need to get done (like feeding the fish) even when they don't feel like doing it. You can have your child help with cleaning the fish tank. 2. ___ A young child could simply watch and hand you the things you need. Kids in grade school could help clean the outside of the fish tank. Teens could help more with the actual cleaning process. Keeping fish also has a direct effect on kids' mental health. 3. ___ One study has shown that people feel more relaxed and calmer after watching live fish in a tank for five minutes. Interestingly, studies have also shown that watching fish in a tank helps calm kids. So why not bring that experience to your home? 4. ___ One fun part of having a fish tank is choosing from a range of fascinating fish, plants and other decorations. If you can, get kids involved in this process by bringing them along to the fish store with you. You can discuss your choices with your kids. 5. ___ It might not seem like you're teaching anything — but through these conversations, kids are learning to think creatively. They learn how to select fish for a community fish tank instead of just picking out a fish because “It's pretty!” A. Keeping fish brings lots of fun to kids. B. In addition, it sparks(引发) inspiration. C. Let your kid helpers give their view, too! D. Are kids able to take good care of a fish tank? E. Give them responsibilities that make sense for their age. Just a month ago, I avoided speaking English by any means — my vocabulary was limited, and I feared mispronouncing simple words. When Mr. Li announced the “English Story Sharing” homework, I wanted to give up immediately. The first week was a terrible dream. I spent hours searching for basic words like “courage” and “determination” in my dictionary, only to forget them the next day. My partner Lily noticed my worry and offered to practice with me after class. We read short stories aloud, and she corrected my pronunciation of “th” and “r” patiently. Though I made mistakes when speaking sentences and felt bad about my mistakes, Lily never laughed — she just said, “Mistakes are part of learning.” As we kept practicing, small successes started to add up. One afternoon, when I was describing how a person felt, I naturally said “amazed” without stopping to check the dictionary. Lily's eyes lit up, and she clapped(击掌) hands with me and said, “You did that without thinking!” That moment filled me with a little confidence. Every night after that, I began practicing in front of the mirror. I used hand movements to make the story more lively, even if I made mistakes with a word or two. I'd repeat the hard sentences over and over until they came out fluently. Slowly, the note cards didn't feel like something I couldn't live without — they felt more like a helpful friend guiding me along. Later, I tried recording myself telling the story of my favorite book. Listening back, I was uncomfortable with how bad my sentences sounded. But instead of giving up, I rewrote the text, replacing difficult words with simpler ones I'd learned. I recorded again and again and Lily always gave me valuable advice. 注意: (1)续写词数应为150个左右; (2)请按如下格式作答。 Paragraph 1: Finally, the day of the story sharing arrived. _________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Paragraph 2: When I finished my story, the classroom broke into applause(掌声).______________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 参考答案 一、1-3:DBC 4-7:ABDD 8-11:DCAB 12-15:BCAC 二、1-5:FEGAC 三、1-15:AABBD BDCCA CBDDB 四、1.has become 2.a 3.sold 4.limited 5.attractions 6.to make 7.providing 8.but 9.where 10.our 五、 六、 ( 1 ) 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
