When I was seven years old, my family made me an ant (蚂蚁) farm. First, we put clean sand (沙子) in a thin glass box. Then we waited for ants to arrive.
After the ants were in the glass farm, they started to make tunnels. Each one knew clearly what to do. Each had its own job.
On the fifth day something bad happened. I put my face so close to the glass farm that I knocked it over. All the tunnels fell down. Then one by one they began to die (死亡). I was sad as I watched them give up building their tunnels to carry the bodies to a corner of the farm.
My mother said that the ants were dying of sadness (悲伤). They could not stand that their tunnels were gone.
Over the years, I began to understand the importance of teamwork. Working together, the ants could make a great world for themselves.
But there was an even more important thing that I did not learn until these days: Adversity is a natural part of life, and we must face it. Different from the ants, we can’t give up when we are sad. We have to learn that if a tunnel is gone, we must build another. Giving up, I say, is not a good choice.
31.What did the writer’s family do for him when he was seven?
A.They built an ant farm. B.They bought a few ants.

34.Which is the right order of the following?

c. The ants got into the glass box. d. The ants began making tunnels.
A.a-d-c-b B.c-d-a-b C.c-a-d-b D.a-d-b-c
35.What does the writer want to tell us through the last paragraph?
A.To tell us working together is important in our life.
B.To tell us giving up is a good choice sometimes.
C.To tell us facing difficulties bravely (勇敢地) is important.
D.To tell us ants are easy to die.

39 In Australia, cars drive on the left side of the road. Always drive carefully and not too fast, especially near schools (40 km/h) or where kangaroos might cross. Remember: “Left is safe, right is dangerous!”
