Last summer, I joined a club with many fun activities. One day, we had a jumping game. We had to jump from a high platform while holding a string.
At first, I was too afraid to try it. The platform was seven metres high, and jumping down sounded hard. But my coach encouraged me, “You never know until you try.” I thought for a while and decided to do it. I didn’t want to be known as a timid (胆小的) boy.
When it was my turn, I was still a little nervous. “Remember to bend (弯曲) your knees when I tell you,” my coach said. I held the string as hard as I could and took a deep breath. Then I jumped. It seemed like I was a bird in the air. I felt so excited and happy. I truly enjoyed it. Then I heard my coach shout, “Bend your knees!” I did. After a while, she said, “Now let go (松手)” I let go and landed perfectly. A wave of pride washed over me. I got over my fear, and for the first time, I felt truly brave.
Through this experience, I learned that trying new things may be hard, but we never know until we try. So just challenge yourself!

It is common knowledge that you can find the age of a tree by counting the rings on its stump (树桩). Now a scientist has found a new way to measure the age of people—standing on one leg.
Dr Kenton Kaufman from the USA says that standing on one leg shows how well people can balance (平衡). As we get older, balance becomes more difficult. Good balance helps people carry out daily activities without falling, which leads to healthy aging.
To test this idea, forty people over the age of 50 took part in a study. They did tests on walking, balance, grip (抓握), and knee strength. Each person had to balance on one leg for 30 seconds, with eyes open and closed.
Kaufman found that standing on the non-dominant leg (the leg you don’t usually use) showed a bigger decline with age. Every ten years, people lost about 2.2 seconds of balance time on that leg, compared to 1.7 seconds on the dominant leg.
Kaufman concluded that standing on one leg is a good measure of overall health because balance shows how well the body’s systems work together.
33. According to Dr Kaufman, what can standing on one leg measure?
A. Muscle strength. B. Body weight. C. Walking speed. D. Balance ability.
34. What does the underlined word “decline” mean?
A. rise B. growth C. drop D. stop
35. What is the best title for the passage?

Have you seen cars driving themselves on the road? In cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Wuhan, some companies are already operating (运营) self-driving taxis. These cars work like robots—no drivers needed! They are also called robotaxis.
How do they move safely? They use cameras, computers, and sensors (传感器) to “see” the world around them. For example, if a person suddenly steps into the taxi’s path, it can sense it and stop in time.
Some people think that the idea of self-driving taxis is so cool. To them, taking a ride in a self-driving taxi will be a totally different and interesting experience. They feel they are living in the future world. They also point out that these taxis drive smoothly and safely, because they are designed to follow all traffic rules. Besides, with no drivers, they can feel free to talk, which is especially friendly for those with social anxiety.
However, there are still challenges. For one thing, the technology isn’t perfect yet, so some people still worry about the safety. For another thing, many taxi drivers may become unemployed.
Despite (尽管) these challenges, self-driving taxis are improving quickly. Maybe soon you'll ride one to school.

“when the train suddenly stopped”表明,主句应用过去进行时表示当时正在发生的动作,应用was looking。
“the train still didn’t move.”
此处是“the+比较级,the+比较级”的结构,表示“越……,就越……”,应用The longer。
where could he go和when could he go是疑问句语序;when he could go表示去的时间,不符合语境。
两个半小时的正确英文表达是two and a half hours或two hours and a half。two hour and a half中hour需用复数、two and half hour中half前需加不定冠词a且hour需用复数、two hour and half中hour需用复数,且half前需加不定冠词a。
As children, my brothers and I considered Grandpa’s orchard (果园) our favourite place.
___11___ over 6,000 square metres, it used to be our natural playground where we played through every holiday.
When ___12___ came, the orchard became a garden. 【
covering over...是固定搭配,此处现在分词作状语,表示果园覆盖的面积;thinking(思考)、bringing(带来)、finding(找到)语义均不匹配。

后文梨花、桃花盛开、收集花瓣都属于春季景象,spring(春天)符合段落语境;summer(夏天)、autumn(秋天)、winter(冬天)和开花情节不符。
