On a snowy and dark night, a little girl was selling matches in the street.
“Matches, matches,” she cried. The wind was blowing, and the snow was falling. She was cold and hungry. How she wanted to leave the place and go home! But she was afraid to do so. If she did not sell all the matches, her father would punish her.
“Perhaps a burning match will warm me up,” she thought. Quickly, she lit three matches. In the light of the matches, she saw delicious food and a Christmas tree. However, they disappeared when the light went out.
The next morning, people found the girl lying against the wall, dead.

A few days later, the stork decided to invite the fox to his home for dinner. The stork served delicious meat in a jar with a long neck. The fox’s small mouth prevented him from eating anything, while the stork enjoyed the meal easily by using his long beak. This time, the fox returned home, hungry and angry.
