Unit 1 Back to school.单元阅读与写作专练2026-2027 Part1 单元阅读过关 一、阅读理解。 A篇 “If you can’t wear the right clothes, you might feel like you don’t belong.” This might seem like a small thing, but this kind of thought can turn into years of stress and worry. Teens often feel desperate(渴望) to buy things they can’t afford or to do things they don’t really enjoy just to fit in. For example, when you go to a mall and see two pieces of clothing, you might be confused between wearing the one that others will like and the one that makes you happy. This is how peer pressure works — it pushes you to give up what’s truly important to fit in with others. A study by Dr. Gurinder Dabhia, a medical expert, shows that teenagers’ brains are still developing. At this stage, teens have extra connections in their brains that make it harder for them to make good decisions. This is why teens are often more sensitive to peer pressure. The part of the brain that helps with judgment isn’t fully developed, making it easier to be influenced by others. Being a teenager means you’re in a time of change, and it’s easy to feel pressured by friends to make choices you might not want. As a result, some teens get involved in risky behaviours like skipping school. They may also worry about their body image and feel like they aren’t “cool” enough if they don’t fit in with the group. Studies show that around 40% of girls and 23% of boys are dissatisfied with their bodies. Dr. Dabhia suggests, “Parents should stay involved in their teens’ life and know who they spend time with and admire.” Parents can help guide their children through peer pressure. If parents aren’t involved, teens may feel lost and turn to their friends for support, even if it may not be helpful. Instead of being tough, parents should talk to their kids and make sure they feel confident in their choices and appearance. 1.What’s the function of paragraph 1?( ) A.To describe the benefits of teens fitting in socially. B.To explain why teens struggle with peer pressure. C.To bring up peer pressure and how it affects teens. D.To discuss how teens improve their decision-making skills. 2.Why are teens more sensitive to peer pressure according to Dr. Dabhia?( ) A.They are less likely to experience changes. B.Body image anxieties influence their social interactions. C.Their brain regions for judgement remain underdeveloped. D.They lack extra connections in brains to help with decision-making. 3.Which is an effect of peer pressure on teens?( ) A.They become more independent. B.They engage in risky behaviours. C.They focus less on their academic performance. D.They feel more confident about their appearance. 4.What should parents do to help teens deal with peer pressure?( ) A.Monitor their school attendance. B.Be strict with them and make decisions for them. C.Offer emotional support over academic achievements. D.Maintain open communication and help build their confidence. B篇 In my ninth-grade writing class last year, I met a cowboy who saved his town, a strict father who demanded his son earn straight A’s, and a modern-day Juliet who died of heartbreak after her parents rejected the love of her young life. More than once, I found myself wondering just how my students, who’d created these people, knew their subjects so well. But things were different for their first essay, which was about the question: “Why is writing important?” Most of the essays filled less than one page, and few contained a sentence that could be interpreted as a thesis(论点)statement. I was shocked. Then I realized that the problem was the question itself. They could have written pages on the necessity of computers, but writing, in and of itself, simply didn’t strike them as important. This would have to change. As a new unit started, I asked everyone to write a persuasive piece on a health-related topic of their choice. This time they found the exercise much more interesting. For the next two assignments, a personal-narrative unit followed by a creative-writing workshop, I only required that the piece meet the specifications of its genre(体裁) and that it contain a thesis. The results were staggering. The students took on diverse topics and turned in stories, 10 to 20 pages each, with characters that broadened my view and touched my heart. I walked into class believing that writing is important as a means of communication. However, my students demonstrated something more important to me. When the final bell rang in June, I walked away with a yearbook full of messages about writing’s most powerful significance — the ability to connect people, to put us in another’s skin, to teach us what it means to be human. 5.Who are the people mentioned at the beginning of paragraph 1?( ) A.Ninth graders. B.Students’ parents. C.Modern writers. D.Fictional characters. 6.Why did the students perform poorly in writing their first essay?( ) A.They were not given enough time. B.They had a very limited vocabulary. C.They misunderstood the question. D.They had little interest in the topic. 7.What does the underlined word “staggering”in paragraph 3 mean?( ) A.Mixed. B.Amazing. C.Similar. D.Disturbing. 8.What does the author’s experience show?( ) A.Teaching is learning. B.Still waters run deep. C.Knowledge is power. D.Practice makes perfect. 二、七选五。 In the past few years, online learning has become a significant part of the university and college experience. 1. ___ But are all online courses created equal? How can you be sure that digital learning is right for you? 2. ___ We interviewed students and professors to get their advice about online courses. The most obvious advantage of online learning is that you can study anywhere and anytime. 3. ___ “I think a point that many people lose sight of is how easy it can be to fall behind schedule,” says graduate student Amanda Bindman. Before choosing to study online, consider whether you’re a self-motivated learner and if the material seems interesting enough to keep you going. The tip that comes up most often is simple: build online courses into your weekly schedule, just like what you would do with in-person courses. 4. ___ He noted that his online students usually end up with lower grades. It is so easy to let an online course slide, but your grades will suffer as a result. Be sure to schedule set times to watch your lectures, read materials and contribute to online discussion boards. 5. ___ A social connection is often a big part of learning. There are things you can do to ease this problem. Jessica Pink, an undergraduate student, suggests taking online courses with a friend, so you can motivate each other to stay on track. You can also find students on the class discussion board to organize a study group, or schedule in-person meetings with your professor to discuss course concepts. A. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t deadlines. B. Your motivation should be your main concern. C. Do you know that online courses are also part of your education? D. Professor Alex Davidson teaches the same course in person and online. E. The chief complaint about online courses is that they lack human interaction. F. If you take an online course, what can you do to ensure the best possible grade? G. A survey found that 29 percent of college students registered for online courses. Everyone seemed to know where they belonged — Science Club, Art Club, or Psychology Club. After class, I walked around, unsure of what to join, until I passed the table tennis room one afternoon. Inside, some classmates were practicing quick and light rallies(连续对打). Daniel, the captain, played with calm confidence, while Jane, known for her fast reactions, laughed as she sent the ball across the table. The energy in the room pulled me in. Maybe this was the place I had been looking for. The next day, I gathered my courage and asked Daniel if I, a green hand, could join. He smiled and said the team welcomed anyone who wanted to learn. Jane gave me a paddle(乒乓球拍) and showed me the basic ways to hold it. At first, I was terrible. My returns ended up sending the ball off the table, and I couldn’t control the ball at all. But no one laughed. Daniel and Jane offered to correct my hand position and footwork. Slowly, I improved, though Daniel sometimes looked at me with a thoughtful expression I couldn’t explain. As we prepared for a friendly match against another school, our practices became more serious. Daniel often changed his skills, asking us to focus on steady moves and safe returns. Jane practiced with me longer than before, repeating easy moves until I felt tired. Their guidance filled my heart with warmth, but something else was there too — like they were planning ahead. A week before the match, Daniel stopped playing in practice games. He said he felt uncomfortable and had to watch us more closely. Although I was an unconfirmed(未被认可的) competitor yet, Jane trained me with even more care, checking my moves again and again, as if preparing me for something important. The air in the room felt different — not because something had already gone wrong, but because we all felt something would happen. Still, we trusted Daniel and followed his plans without question. 注意: (1)续写词数应为150个左右; (2)请按如下格式作答。 Paragraph 1: Daniel told us the truth before the start of the match.___________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Paragraph 2: I took the place of Daniel and began to compete.______________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 参考答案 Part1 单元阅读过关 一、1-4:CCBD 5-8:DDBA 二、1-5:GFADE Part2 单元写作过关 二、1.to help students improve/enhance their English skills and learn about different cultures 2.Weekly activities will include/We’ll hold weekly activities like 3.put up posters around the school 4.if you take my proposal into serious consideration 三、参考范文。 四、参考范文。 ( 1 ) 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
