As the saying goes, “It takes a village to raise a child.” And one neighborhood in our community truly understands the importance of coming together to support each other.
Last summer, a couple with their family moved into our neighborhood. They had a daughter named Lily, who was born with a physical disability that made it difficult for her to walk. However, she was always seen with a smile on her face. She would like to make friends with others and be a part of the community.
When Lily played outside with her new neighbors, she faced a challenge. Because of her disability, she couldn’t take part in some of the activities the other kids were taking part in. And it was hard for them to understand her needs. This made Lily feel a little upset and left out.
But instead of giving up, the community decided to come together and find a way to get Lily involved in their activities. The process was not always easy. It took one year’s effort for the community to get used to the needs of their new friend. As time went by, Lily became more confident and she felt like she truly belonged.
Lily’s parents were excited to see the changes in their daughter. They were thankful to live in a community that made sure every child felt valued. Lily’s family had expressed their thanks for the positive influence Lily had on the community. She brought them closer together, developing a unity (团结) and compassion (同情心) they had never experienced before.

Every year almost all of the 330 million tennis balls made worldwide are thrown away. Lots of them end up in landfill, where they can take up to 400 years to decompose (分解). The International Tennis Federation (ITF) is trying to find out if tennis balls can be produced and used in a way that is kinder to the planet.
Tennis balls are made from an air-filled rubber core (橡胶芯). They are coated in glue and covered in felt (毛毡) which can’t be recycled. Although rubber can be recycled, the glue that holds the felt covering onto it is so strong that the two can’t be easily separated. The best quality tennis balls are used by the world’s top players. They are usually made from new materials—latex (胶乳). This is a milky sticky material collected from cuts made in rubber trees and mixed with chemicals.
Players don’t use tennis balls for very long before they are replaced. In big tennis games, the balls are hit so hard that they are changed after the first seven games, and then every nine games after that. This is to make sure the balls stay smooth and energetic.
The ITF has put together a team of scientists to try to find a way to design a fully recyclable tennis ball. They are also testing to see if tennis balls could be used for longer before being replaced.
Not all used tennis balls go to waste. The balls used at the Wimbledon championships are sold to the public. Some are given to wildlife charities, which use them as homes for harvest mice. Some are used as dog toys or to make a flooring material for tennis clubs and horse-riding centers.

A. The tennis balls are used for many times.
B. It is a waste if we replaced the tennis balls so often.
C. The tennis balls are changed after the first seven games.
D. Players replace the balls to keep them in the best condition.
35. What does the ITF do to make used tennis balls more environmentally friendly to the planet?

C. They ask all the player to use the tennis balls for a longer period of time.

Living skills are very important in our daily life. The process of learning it is also meaningful to us.
I learned how to cook meals last summer holiday. I had a try so I could do something nice for my parents and take care of myself. I bought the food I needed in the market and then I washed and cut it to get ready. Then my mother taught me how to do it right. I tried several times in the kitchen and finally made it. I felt proud of myself. After that, I have realized that my parents do so much for me all the time. I found cooking was not an easy thing.
We should learn more living skills to look after both ourselves and others.
