A. or B. but C. so
or或者;but但是;so所以。根据前半句“We have learned a lot about Chagan Lake’s history during the survey”可知,前句是了解历史,根据后半句“we decide to make a photo book to record it.”
2. More than hundreds of young people ________ the volunteer team to inherit Jilin’s paper-cutting art since 2024.
A. have been in B. have joined C. joined
【答案】A
应填have been in。
3. Traditional northeast mahua snack making skills ________ by more and more young people these days.
A. are loved B. loved C. love
【答案】A
时间状语these days表明时态为一般现在时,主语skills是复数,be动词用are。故为are loved。
4. —I feel worried about the coming exam, Mrs Li.
— ________, believe in yourself, you are the best in my heart!
A. Take your time. B. Not at all C. Take it easy
【答案】C

Take your time慢慢来;Not at all别客气;Take it easy别紧张。根据上文“I feel worried about the coming exam”可知说话人感到焦虑担心,下文“believe in yourself”表示鼓励,因此横线处应填入表示安慰、让对方放松的用语。应填Take it easy。
5. —Tom, do you know ________ for the school trip this summer?
—Yes. We are going to visit the Changchun Science and Technology Museum.
A. what we will do B. what we did C. what will we do

宾语从句要用陈述语序,排除疑问语序的C;根据“this summer”及答语“We are going to visit...”

When I was in the sixth grade, my teacher asked our class the question, “What does ‘doing the right thing’ mean to you?” She asked us to think about it over the weekend, and to talk to anyone else we thought might have a good answer. By Monday, we were asked to hand in an article on it, and be prepared to show our answers.
The whole weekend, I tried to come up with something that would impress (使留下深刻印象) my teacher and be easy to do. I talked to my parents, called my grandmother, and asked my next door neighbor. Everyone had good answers, but I didn’t feel like I could do them.
On Sunday afternoon my parents took me to my Aunt Cindy’s house. After dinner, my parents told me to play with my four-year-old cousin Andrea while they visited. I turned on the television and found a Disney movie for Andrea, and then I sat down and started to write my article. I still didn’t know what I was going to write about. Soon I felt a pair of eyes on me. It was Andrea.
“What are you doing?” she asked.
“I have to write an article about what doing the right thing means to me. “I answered. Andrea laughed.” That’s easy,” she said.
“Okay, tell me the answer,” I said.
“Doing the right thing means: Be nice to your family and friends. Do what your mum says. Never lie. Take a bath when you’re dirty. Gain some knowledge and new abilities. Don’t waste water and electricity...”
I looked at Andrea amazingly. Not only had she answered a very difficult question for me, but I could easily follow all of her rules. And all I had to do was to be nice. So when I wrote my article back home, I included the story about Andrea
Two weeks later, my teacher returned everyone’s articles. I received an A+ along with a little note my teacher had written: “Always do the right thing and give Andrea an A+, too!”

Fried duck doesn’t taste as good as fried chicken.
On the menus of fast-food restaurants, there always seem to be many fried chicken dishes. But have you wondered why there is no fried duck? ___51___ The right answer is yes. Although chickens and ducks are both raised for meat, they are very different.
Ducks live in places with lots of water. This makes it easier for bacteria (细菌) to grow. To keep themselves safe from these things, ducks have special genes (基因). ___52___ That’s why duck meat has much more fat than chicken meat. Chicken meat usually has 6.7% fat, but duck meat has about 19.7%.
___53___ Because of so much fat, the meat soaks (吸收) up more oil when it’s fried. Also, duck meat has thicker fibers (纤维) and less water. So when you fry it, it tastes very dry. These two problems make fried duck much less popular than fried chicken.
Another reason is about smell. ___54___ Near a duck’s tail, there is a part that makes oil to keep it warm. This oil smells like sheep meat. When the duck is fried, this smell becomes unpleasant. Even if you take away the oil, some of the smell may still stay in the meat.
Some people may think it’s about cost. ___55___ The real reasons are all about taste and smell—these are the most important things for people when they choose fast food.
A. These genes also help ducks save more fat in their bodies.
B. But fried duck is not as expensive as most people think.
C. Is it because fried duck is not as delicious as fried chicken?
D. Fried chicken can be served in many fast food restaurants.

Old George bought the black gloves for just $35 ten years ago. They were made of lambskin, soft, warm and very strong. Until then, he had worn cheaper man-made materials. Those gloves never lasted longer than three years. He first decided to buy the expensive gloves because they would make him feel nice in front of others.

Bad luck! George lost his expensive gloves on New Year’s Day.
Back home, George was at a loss. In deep winter, he could not do without a pair of gloves. If he bought cheap ones again, he would have to replace (更换) them very soon. If he bought a new leather pair, it would cost $50 now. He was upset that people no longer returned things they found on the road.
After the holiday, poor George decided to buy another leather pair. Before boarding the subway, he went into Value Mart again to see if his gloves had been returned to the Lost and Found Office.
“What color are they?” the woman in the office asked again.
