From the picture, I can see a little bird sitting quietly on a branch. At first,it tries to fly but falls down with an “Oops!”. Instead of giving up, it keeps exercising its wings bravely. Finally, it shouts "I can fly!" and soars freely into the sky.
This reminds me of my own experience of learning English. At first, I was afraid of speaking in class and often made mistakes in grammar. I even wanted to give up. But my teacher encouraged me to keep practising. I started reading English aloud every morning, listening to English songs and keeping a diary in English. Little by little, my confidence grew, and my English improved a lot.
The story teaches me that no matter how hardthings seem,we should never lose heart. Only through constant practiee and courage can we spread our wings and achieve our goals.

In October 2024, a baby orangutan(红毛猩猩) named Kiko was rescued (营救)from illegal hunters in Borneo, Indonesia. When rescuers found him, he was only three months old and very weak-he hadn't eaten for days. Kiko was taken to a wildlife rescue center, where workers fed him special milk every three hours and built a warm nest for him with leaves and soft cloth.
Orangutan live in the rainforests of Borneo and Sumatra, and they spend almost all their time in trees. They eat fruit, leaves, and tree bark, and their long arms help them swing from branch to branch easily. Adult orangutans can live up to 45 years in the wild, and baby orangutans stay with their mothers for about seven years-longer than most other primates(灵长类动物).During this time, mothers teach their babies how to find food and build tree nests to sleep in.
Sadly, orangutans are endangered because their rainforest homes are being cut down for palm oil(棕榈油)plantations. The rescue center where Kiko lives has helped over 500 orangutans since 2010.It's really meaningful that the rescue center has been trying its best to protect these lovely animals. When the orangutans are healthy enough, workers release(放归)them back into protected rainforests. The Hanyi Festival, also known as Winter Clothing Festival, Ancestor Worship Festival, or October Memorial Day, is an important traditional day of remembrance in China. It is observed annually on the first day of the tenth month of the traditional Chinese calendar. This year, the festival falls on Nov 20.
Together with Qingming Festival in spring and the Zhongyuan Festival in summer, it is one of China's three"ghost festivals' On this day, the living send warmth and care to their departed loved ones through solemn yet beantfelt vituals, expressing love, remembrance and filial devotion.
The origins of the festival trace back to the Zhou Dynasty (c. 11th century-256 BC),when people practiced the custom of bestowing winter garments. The Book of Songs records the line, "In the ninth month, winter clothing is granted", reminding people to prepare for the coming cold. Over time, the first day of the tenth month became known as the Festival of Bestowing Clothes, reflecting ancient concerns for warmth and well-being.
During the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang reinforced this practice by conducting a formal clothing-granting ceremony at court and offering warm red bean porridge to officials.
The custom gained emotional depth through the legend of Lady Meng Jiang, who traveled thousands of miles to bring winter clothes to her husband building the Great Wall-only to learn he had died. In grief, she burned the clothes she had prepared, letting the flames carry her love to him in the afterlife. Her story inspired later generations to burn paper garments for their own ancestors.
Thus emerged the enduring tradition of "burning winter clothes on the first day of the tenth month".

A 15-year-old student from Xuzhou, Jiangsu province, has donated two valuable historical materials to the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre(大屠杀)by Japanese Invaders.
Yu Ningpeng, a student at Hanxing high school in Peixian county, Xuzhou, has been collecting historical items for nine years. He said he is committed to gathering evidence of Japan's invasion of China to counter attempts by Japanese right-wing groups to distort history.
Yu's donation includes two historical documents that provide firsthand evidence of Japan's wartime activities in China. One item is a battlefield letter, dated Dec 18, 1937. The second is a photo album from the Japanese military."From these artifacts, I truly feel the weight of history,”Yu said.“Patriotism(爱国主义)is not just a slogan; it must be translated into practical actions." He said donating the materials is his way of safeguarding historical truth. The memorial hall held a donation ceremony on Dec 5. In addition to Yu's contributions, 13 historical items were officially archived and added to the collection. Yu has visited the memorial hall six times since it reopened to the public in 2007. “This donation marks my seventh visit, and I am very proud to enter as a donor,"he said.
Yu said he hopes to continue passing on historical awareness in the future. The teen history fan began collecting historical items at age 6. He said the two donated items were purchased through secondhand trading platforms at a cost of more than 20,000 yuan. Yu said he received only verbal support from his parents and had no other financial support. "All the expenses for the collection were earned through my own insight and knowledge," he said. Data from the memorial hall shows a surge in donations this year, with the museum receiving 573 artifacts, an increase of more than 30 percent compared with previous years.

He said remembering history is not about perpetuating hatred, but about learning from it. “As a middle school student, I hope for more exchanges between Chinese and Japanese youth, but these exchanges must be based on respecting historical truth, not blurring history for the sake of friendship,"he said.

Nature is full of surprises, and author Dawn Casey has turned these surprises into magical stories. Her new book, Magical Nature Tales, takes young readers on a journey through forests, meadows, and rivers with simple, warm words that feel like a friend's chat. The stories are not only fun to read, but also easy to understand, which makes the book popular among primary and middle school students. Many parents say their children enjoy reading the book before bed.
TFK Kid Reporter Dylan Landaw recently talked to Casey. She shared that she gets ideas from daily walks in the park near her home, where she observes small details like fluttering butterflies and dewy grass. "One day, I saw a tiny spider making a web in the rain," she said.“The raindrops on the web looked like a rainbow, and that's how I wrote the 'rainbow home' story.”
In the book, each character learns a meaningful lesson. A squirrel finds that sharing nuts helps everyone survive winter. A shy firefly discovers its light is brightest when helping friends find their way. There is also a story about a lonely stone that learns to be happy by listening to the river and the birds. Casey hopes kids learn to care for nature and for each other through these fun tales.
The book is sold in many bookstores worldwide. Some US schools use it in reading classes to talk about nature and kindness, inspiring students to love the outdoors and protect the environment around them. Teachers often ask students to draw pictures for their favorite stories, making learning more lively and creative.
