What’s your dream holiday? Watching wildlife in Kenya? Boating down the Amazon? Sunbathing in Malaysia? New chances are opening up all the time to explore the world. So we visit travel agents, compare packages and prices, and pay our money.
We know what our holiday costs us. But do we know what it might cost someone else. It’s true that many poorer countries now depend on tourism for foreign income. Unfortunately, though, tourism often harms the local people more than it helps them.
It might cost their homes and lands. In Myanmar,5,200 people were forced to leave their homes among the pagodas (佛塔) in Bagan so that tourists could visit the pagodas.
Tourism might also cost the local people their livelihood and dignity. Local workers often find only menial (卑微的) jobs in the tourist industry. And most of the profits do not help the local economy. Instead, profits return to the tour operators in wealthier countries. When the Maasai people in Tanzania were driven from their lands, some moved to city slums. Others now make a little money selling souvenirs (纪念品) or posing for photos.
Problems like these were noticed more than 20 years ago. But now some non-government organizations, tour operators and local governments are working together to begin correcting them. Tourists, too, are putting on the pressure.
The result is responsible tourism, or “ethical tourism”. Ethical tourism has people at its heart. New international agreements and codes of conduct can help protect the people’s lands, homes, economies and cultures. The beginnings are small, though, and the problems are complex.
But take heart. The good news is that everyone, including us, can play a part to help the local people in the places we visit. Tour operators and companies can help by making sure that local people work in good conditions and earn reasonable wages.
They can make it a point to use only locally owned hotel, restaurants and guide services. They can share profits fairly to help the local economy. And they can involve the local people in planning and managing tourism.
What can tourists do? First, we can ask tour companies to provide information about the conditions of local citizens. We can then make our choices and tell them why. And while we’re abroad, we can: Buy local foods and products, not imported ones. Pay a fair price for goods and services and not bargain for the cheapest price. Avoid flaunting wealth. Ask before taking photographs of people. They are not just part of the landscape!
Let’s enjoy our holiday and make sure others do, too.
32.What is probably the best title for the article?

33.Which of the following is not mentioned?
A.Local people were well paid to leave their lands.

34.The underlined phrase “take heart” means “________”.

The area of Yinchuan Wetland Park was once a place that people didn’t like: waste water caused bad smells and almost no grass could grow on the land. Now, it not only becomes a popular place for people to take a walk, but also a good place for birds and other animals to live in. Every day, many people come here to enjoy the fresh air and beautiful scenery.
Li Zhijun is a member of the bird protection organization. He saw the great changes at the park. According to him, Yinchuan Wetland Park is now a famous place for bird photographers. More birds would like to stay here in winter. You can see all kinds of birds flying around, and some are even building nests in the trees.
Besides Yinchuan, many cities in China worked hard to protect wetlands. Wuhan in Hubei Province is known as a “city of a hundred lakes”. The city has five large wetland nature reserves. Tens of thousands of birds come to stay in winter. People there are very proud of their beautiful wetlands and work together to protect them.
Panjin in Liaoning Province is another surprising wetland city. In the past, the city had a lot of pollution because of oil production. But now in the wetlands by the sea, the seagrass turns red every autumn, creating beautiful “red beaches”. It’s like a fairyland. Every year, thousands of tourists come here to enjoy the unique scenery. The local government has also taken actions to protect the wetlands and the seagrass, so that the wetlands are full of life and beauty.
35.How does the writer start the passage?
A.By showing a saying. B.By listing numbers.
C.By asking some questions. D.By telling facts.

Kids aren’t born with good manners. They learn manners firstly from parents, so the most important way you can pass good manners to your kids is to show an example and keep talking about good manners at home.
You can’t avoid these two passwords in your home: “please” and “thank you”. Start by modeling them when your children are only months old. As they get older, remind (提醒) them gently when they forget. They will get in the habit of saying “May I please have a glass of milk?” instead of “I want milk!”
My daughter went through a shy phase (阶段). She found it difficult to say “thank you” to people she didn’t know well. I knew that she wasn’t being impolite—she just wasn’t used to talking with strangers. We came up with a good idea. She would try her best to look at the person who helped her and smile. I’d then jump in and say, “She’s saying thank you with her eyes.” It wasn’t long before she said the words herself, and I helped her get there.
Picking nose, talking while eating, running around. These acts are usually seen in childhood. For all these acts, you can find a simple password that gives your child a sign to show it’s not the best choice of action in public places. We use the word “inappropriate (不恰当的)”, it doesn’t mean these actions are always bad. It only tells children that these actions have a time and a place, but “not here, not now”.

A.Tourism Causes Bad Effects B.Tourism Calls for Good Behavior
C.Holidays Bring a Lot of Fun D.Holidays Cost More Than You Think
33.Which of the following is not mentioned?

【详解】32.根据第二段“We know what our holiday costs us. But do we know what it might cost someone else”,可知随后全文围绕旅游给当地带来的隐藏代价(家园、生计等)以及如何进行道德旅游展开。D项准确概括了文章关于旅游隐藏成本的核心主题。
33.根据第三段“5,200 people were forced to leave their homes”和第四段“When the Maasai people in Tanzania were driven from their lands”可知,当地人是被迫离开,文中并未提及他们离开土地获得了丰厚的报酬,故A项未提及。B项对应第八段“use only locally owned hotel”;C项对应第四段“find only menial jobs”;D项对应倒数第二段“Pay a fair price... and not bargain for the cheapest price”。
34.划线短语“take heart”位于第七段段首,其后紧接着说“The good news is that everyone... can play a part to help...”。上文讲述了旅游带来的问题,此处语境转折表示希望,因此take heart译为“振作起来,感到欣慰”,与cheer up意思相近。
