A
As the planet warms, natural disasters have become more common. According to a study, you’re now twice as likely(可能的) to experience them as you were in 1960. But preparation could save your life. We ask climate expert Nicole Errett how she prepares for disasters.
Q: What does it mean to be prepared for emergencies?
A: Being prepared means knowing what’s happening around you. For example, whenever I go to coastal areas, I make sure I know where the tsunami zone is and how to get to safety. Knowing that is the first step to being prepared, but it’s not enough. Getting supplies ready matters a lot, too. And there are two parts to it: keeping supplies easy to get and keeping them fresh.
Q: Do you have an emergency kit? What things do you include?
A: Yes. I pack a few basic things. I keep enough water and dried food. I also have a small first-aid kit. Other useful items include a flashlight(手电筒) and batteries(电池).
Of course, this is just a list to begin with. It depends on where you live. People in cold places might want to add a sleeping bag to their lists in winter. The best place to get started is to think about what disasters might happen in the place you live and then prepare accordingly.
Q: Why is it a good idea to plan ahead?
A: It is much better to think through what you would do in an emergency when you are calm. As people often say in disaster planning, “It’s not the plan; it’s the planning.”

2. Which of the following behavior is right according to Nicole’s advice on emergency preparation?
A. I keep bottled water in my car and home and change it once a year.
B. I only prepare emergency supplies when there is a disaster warning.
C. I store all my emergency supplies in the basement of my house.
D. I prepare plenty of interesting books to kill time.
3. What can we know from the text?

D. The more you put in your emergency kit, the safer you will be.
4. What can we infer from the sentence “It’s not the plan; it’s the planning”?
A. We don’t need to make any emergency plans.
B. The process of thinking ahead is more important than the plan itself.
C. It’s hard to carry out a good emergency plan when disasters come.
D. Most people don’t know how to make a correct disaster plan.
5. What is the text?

(原创)At a nonprofit(非营利的) organization in Maryland, US, volunteers clean and repair old computers and give them to people who don’t have one. Brayden Belsky, a 12-year-old boy, is the youngest volunteer there.
Belsky learned to fix(修理) technology mostly by himself. He started by playing around with old equipment(设备) at home. One day, he bought an old computer and tried to repair it.
“Once I did that, I wanted to keep fixing and repairing other computers,” Belsky told Time for Kids. “The challenge of making things work and testing new computers is fun.”
Belsky is happy that his interests and skills can help others. Some people use these computers to find jobs or get a degree, and some users are children like him.
As a young volunteer, Belsky also faced some problems. For example, he was nervous at first about working with volunteers who were older than him. “But now I feel much more comfortable and really enjoy working with them,” Belsky said.
But Belsky needs to make time for playing video games and learning about computers. He also makes sure to take part in other activities, like playing outside and spending time with friends. He volunteers with other organizations as well, including one that saves homeless cats.
“I hope kids see what I’m doing as a good example of how to use their different interests, no matter what they are, to give back to their community,” Belsky said.

(原创)Picture this. You get an invitation to a friend’s birthday party. If you can go, you reply yes. The easy part is over, but now you need to work out what to get them! The following questions might jump into your head: “What would they like?” “What if it’s not as cool as the other gifts they get?” Does this dilemma sound familiar?
Buying gifts for special occasions like birthdays is a common tradition. But with the cost of things going up, it can be hard for families to buy them. There can also be added pressure to give the most popular or expensive gift.
Of course, there are ways to celebrate while spending little or no money! A gift that is homemade can feel very personal. You can also try making coupons(礼券) for experiences, like an at-home movie night with popcorn(爆米花) and decorations! These types of gifts are thoughtful, and your friend is less likely to receive doubles.
It’s also becoming more common for party invitations to say that gifts aren’t needed. So what do you think? Should gift-giving for occasions like kids’ birthday parties still be a thing?
Psychotherapist Sarah Hurley thinks kids should try to take the pressure off themselves when it comes to gift-giving. “Many kids feel pressure to give the perfect gift, especially for birthday parties,” says Hurley. “Gifts don’t have to be expensive to be meaningful. One of my favourite gifts as a kid was a simple glass jar(罐子) decorated with photos of my friends. I still remember it.” Hurley also reminds kids to think about what their friends probably really care about when it comes to their birthdays. “Being there to celebrate with your friends is what matters most!”

③There aren’t enough gifts to choose from.

A. ①② B. ③④ C. ②④ D. ①④
13. What does paragraph 3 mainly talk about?
A. Different cheap or free meaningful gift ideas.
B. Why homemade gifts are better than store-bought ones.
C. How to make beautiful experience coupons for friends.
D. Why it is important to give cheap gifts to friends.
14. What can we learn from Sarah Hurley’s words?

15. What is the writer’s main purpose of writing this text?

(原创)A record 112 million people in America rode a bicycle in 2024. Biking is good for people’s health and benefits the environment as well. If people ride a bike instead of driving once a day, they can cut down a lot of pollution from cars. Bikes also produce no noise, so cycling is a quieter choice for communities. 16
Know the rules of the road. Cyclists must follow traffic rules, like stopping at red lights, and following speed and safety rules. Margaux Mennesson of the Safe Routes Partnership suggests learning cycling hand signals(信号), which let a car or another cyclist know which way you’re going to turn. 17 “You should try to avoid biking on the sidewalk,” she says. “But if you do, be careful of driveways because cars can back out and the driver might not see you.” Before passing a driveway, slow down and look both ways.
18 Staying visible keeps everyone safer. Research shows that wearing visible clothing while cycling can reduce accidents. Wear bright clothing while biking during the day and reflective materials(反光材料) at night. 19
Always wear a helmet. 20 “A helmet can save your life,” says Mennesson. Studies show that helmets reduce injuries(伤害) by 63% to 88%. With an adult’s help, make sure it’s the proper size.
A. Make sure you’re highly visible.
B. Before you start cycling, be sure to put on a helmet.
C. Mennesson adds that where you ride matters.
D. Before you start biking, be sure to follow these guidelines to stay safe.
E. Experts also recommend fitting your bike with a front headlight and a taillight.

but full college read teach change by cost her different
When I was 11 or 12 years old, I read US writer Tara Westover’s Educated: A Memoir for the first time. However, I quickly became bored. The book mainly tells Westover’s own experiences: She longed for(渴望) knowledge but was kept out of school 36 her father. With strong determination, she taught 37 to study.
At the time, I found the book uninteresting, not because Westover’s story lacked(缺乏) meaning, but because I was too young to 38 understand it. In the end, I stopped 39 around the halfway point.
This year, the book became an assigned(指定的) reading in my class. I am 15 now, and reading it again provided a completely 40 experience. On this reread, I could finally see the courage in Westover’s pursuit(追寻) of learning and the 41 of her independence. Breaking free from the beliefs of one’s family was not easy, 42 she did it. She even went on to attend 43 .
I realized that my own education over the years has 44 the way I read and understand. Reading this book didn’t just teach me about Westover’s journey; it also 45 me about my own. I learned that education isn’t just power—it’s the widening of what the heart can hold.

A
Knowing that is the first step to being prepared,其中that指代上文提到的know where the tsunami zone is and how to get to safety,即了解周边潜在风险和逃生路线是第一步。
根据原文keeping supplies easy to get and keeping them fresh,A选项将水放在易获取的位置并定期更换,完全符合Nicole的建议。
It depends on where you live以及think about what disasters might happen in the place you live and then prepare accordingly可知,应急包的内容需要根据居住地的情况调整,因此B选项正确。
It is much better to think through what you would do in an emergency when you are calm可知,这句话想要表达的核心是:在冷静的时候提前想清楚应对方法这个过程比一份现成的计划本身更重要,B选项符合文意。
根据第一段第一句中的volunteers clean and repair old computers and give them to people who don’t have one可知,该非营利组织将清洁维修后的旧电脑捐赠给没有电脑的人,即满足有需要人群的需求,因此B选项正确。
The challenge of making things work and testing new computers is fun可知,他认为修理电脑的挑战很有趣,因此C选项正确。
I hope kids see what I’m doing as a good example of how to use their different interests... to give back to their community,可推知他希望其他孩子也能以他为榜样,用自己的兴趣爱好回馈社区、帮助他人,因此A选项正确。B选项曲解原文,Belsky提到no matter what they are,说明不限制兴趣类型;C、D选项原文未提及,属于过度推断。
A选项A New Hobby for Kids偏离主题,本文不是介绍一种新的儿童爱好;C选项How to Fix Old Computers只提到了修电脑的动作,完全没有体现志愿者奉献的核心内容;D选项A Great Volunteer Organization将主体搞错,本文的核心主人公是Belsky,不是志愿者组织。
C
But with the cost of things going up, it can be hard for families to buy them. There can also be added pressure to give the most popular or expensive gift.
Being there to celebrate with your friends is what matters most可知,和朋友一起庆祝比礼物本身更重要,对应C选项。 Gifts don’t have to be expensive to be meaningful表述相反;D选项“贴照片的玻璃罐是生日礼物的最佳选择”错误,这个只是Sarah自己小时候难忘的礼物,不是通用的最佳选择。

46. which/that 分析句子结构可知,空处引导定语从句,且在定语从句中作主语,先行词是a social media trend,表物,故用关系代词which/that。
47. have此处是现在完成时,结构为“have/has + 过去分词”,主语为I,故填have。

Possible version:
Of all the books I have read, my favorite one is The Little Prince. It tells the story of a little prince who travels from planet to planet, meeting all kinds of strange adults and finally understanding the true meaning of love and responsibility.
What I love most is that the book uses simple words to tell us deep life lessons. It tells me the most important things in life can’t be seen with eyes — only with heart.
Now I pay more attention to the love from my family and friends, and I feel happier every day with the little warm things around me.
