(原创)Public transportation serves as a vital symbol of a city’s livability and sustainable development. As a pioneer in environmental protection and urban innovation, Finland is stepping into a new stage of public transport upgrading, bringing revolutionary changes to urban bus systems in both vehicle performance and passenger travel experience.
In early June, a fleet of advanced hydrogen-powered buses imported from Portugal was delivered to Finland. These new energy buses will go through months of professional tests, focusing on their adaptability to Finland’s harsh, unpredictable weather. The local climate, characterized by frequent temperature shifts and severe weather, poses a strict test for the stability of new energy vehicles. If the buses pass the weather adaptation tests successfully, they will be officially put into operation in late summer or early autumn, complementing the existing electric bus fleet on Finnish roads.
Hydrogen energy stands out among new energy sources for its outstanding energy-saving advantages. Official data shows that a standard 12-meter hydrogen bus only consumes 6 to 7 kilograms of hydrogen per 100 kilometers, while an extended 18-meter model uses less than 9 kilograms over the same distance. Compared with traditional fuel vehicles, hydrogen buses greatly cut fuel consumption and reduce carbon emissions, achieving remarkable energy-saving and eco-friendly effects.
The city of Jyväskylä has been selected as the first pilot city for these hydrogen buses. Famous for its consistent green energy development strategies, the city has a mature public transport system equipped with electric and renewable-fuel vehicles. Moreover, it hosts Finland’s first large-scale green hydrogen refueling station. Complete supporting facilities and a sound green energy ecosystem make it the perfect site for testing and promoting hydrogen buses.
Apart from renewable energy upgrades, Finland is also empowering public transport with smart technology. A new research project applies intelligent monitoring systems inside buses. Equipped with high-precision cameras and sensors, the system can analyze passengers’ facial expressions and body movements through big data algorithms. It enables transport operators to predict potential disputes, safety hazards and disturbances in advance.
Jani Väre, an innovation director of the leading technology company Teleste, stated that the smart system builds a collaborative and safe travel environment for operators, passengers and safety staff. Meanwhile, the project strictly protects user privacy, making every effort to strike a perfect balance between public travel safety and individual privacy rights. With the combination of green renewable energy and cutting-edge smart technology, Finland’s public transport is leading the global urban low-carbon development trend.

(原创)To achieve the goals of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality (碳达峰与碳中和), scientists worldwide are seeking efficient ways to turn carbon dioxide (CO₂) into useful resources. In November 2025, a research team from the Chinese Academy of Sciences released a breakthrough: an artificial photosynthesis (光合作用) system that can fix CO₂ with record-high efficiency, bringing new possibilities for low-carbon development.
Traditional industrial carbon capture technologies usually have high energy consumption and low conversion rates, and most can only store CO₂ underground without reusing it. The new system, however, imitates the natural photosynthesis of green plants. It uses a low-cost catalyst (催化剂) to turn CO₂ and water into organic matter and oxygen under sunlight, with almost no extra energy input. Lab tests showed that its CO₂ conversion efficiency is 8 times higher than that of natural plant photosynthesis, setting a new global record.
Different from previous lab-level technologies that can only work in strict experimental environments, this new system is highly adaptable. It can work normally under normal temperature and pressure, and even perform well in weak sunlight on cloudy days. The research leader, Professor Wang Wei, said the system is also highly scalable: it can be made into small devices for office buildings, or expanded into large-scale systems for factories to process exhaust gas.
At present, the team has signed cooperation agreements with 3 domestic new energy enterprises to promote the industrialization of the technology. “This technology is not just a lab achievement. It can directly serve China’s dual carbon goals, and help more industries realize low-carbon transformation,” Professor Wang said in an interview. “We hope this system can become a practical tool to turn ‘carbon emission’ into ‘carbon resource’ in the near future.”
32.What is the core advantage of the new system?
A. It has a much lower cost B. It needs no extra energy input
C. It sets a new global safety record D. It has far higher CO₂ conversion efficiency
33.What does the underlined word “scalable” in paragraph 3 probably mean?
A. Safe to use B. Easy to expand C. Simple to produce D. Quick to promote
34.What can we learn about the new system?
A. It only works in strong sunlight
B. It has been put into mass production
C. It imitates natural plant photosynthesis
D. It can only work in strict experimental environments
35.What can we infer from Professor Wang’s words?
A. The technology will face many unknown challenges
B. The system will help promote low-carbon development
C. The team will cooperate with foreign enterprises soon
D. The technology will replace all traditional carbon capture methods

(原创)When we talk about sustainable living, most people think of expensive solar panels or giving up car travel completely. 36. ______ In fact, small, consistent changes in your daily routine can make a huge difference to your carbon footprint( 碳足迹)over time. Here are some tiny habits that make sustainable living easy and enjoyable.
37. ______
The easiest way to cut down waste is to reduce your use of single-use items. Instead of buying bottled water, use a reusable water bottle. Bring your own cloth bags to the supermarket, and choose products with less packaging. These small swaps take almost no extra effort, but they can cut down hundreds of pieces of plastic waste every year.
Save energy without sacrificing comfort
Many people believe saving energy means turning off the heater in winter or the air conditioner in summer. That’s not true. Simple moves like turning off lights and electronic devices when you leave a room, or using energy-efficient light bulbs, can reduce your home energy use by up to 30%. 38. ______
Rethink your food waste
About one-third of the food produced globally is wasted every year. You can make a difference with small changes in your kitchen. Plan your meals weekly to avoid over-buying, and use leftover food to make new dishes. 39. ______ You can compost(堆肥)fruit and vegetable scraps to make nutrient-rich soil for your garden, instead of throwing them away.
Buy secondhand when possible
Every new product we buy has a carbon cost from production and transportation. Buying secondhand clothes, furniture and books extends the life of these items, and saves you money at the same time. Many secondhand shops and online platforms make this easier than ever.
40.______ Sustainable living doesn’t have to be hard or expensive. It starts with small, daily choices that add up over time. Every small step you take makes our planet a little greener.

(原创)As an exchange student studying in a foreign high school, I have always held deep pride in traditional Chinese folk art, especially paper-cutting. It is a time-honored folk treasure with a history of thousands of years, famous for its delicate hollowed-out patterns and rich cultural implications, which has been passed down through generations of Chinese craftsmen.
Our school decided to hold a grand international cultural sharing week, providing a platform for students from all over the world to showcase their unique national cultures. Without a second thought, I signed up for the activity, determined to introduce the charm of Chinese paper-cutting to my foreign classmates and teachers.
For several consecutive days, I buried myself in preparing paper-cutting works. I carefully cut out vivid patterns of blooming peonies, cute zodiac rabbits, red festive lanterns and the Chinese character "Fu", each piece being my elaborate creation full of good wishes for happiness, health and good luck. I firmly believed these delicate handcrafts would help foreigners understand the beauty of Chinese traditional culture.
However, the actual situation on the sharing day was far from my expectation. Most students were drawn to dynamic modern cultural performances and noisy exhibition booths, passing by my quiet corner quickly. Hardly anyone stopped to appreciate my paper-cuttings, and no one showed the slightest interest in asking about their stories.
Standing alone beside the table, I felt a strong sense of disappointment and frustration welling up in my heart. The carefully made paper-cuttings lay quietly on the table, seemingly as lonely as I was. I began to doubt whether foreign people could truly understand the profound culture behind this simple art, and even regretted signing up for the activity, wanting to give up and leave immediately.

M: Wonderful! I’m a fan of Anna’s cooking. Considering the rush hour traffic, it could take us 45 minutes to get there. ⑥Then we should leave around 6:15.
W: ⑥Let’s not cut it too close. How about we leave 15 minutes earlier, just to be safe?
M: ⑥OK, you’re the boss. Shall we bring some food?
W: I asked Anna already. She insisted on handling everything herself, so we don’t need to.
M: In that case, how about some flowers?
W: Perfect. Also, ⑦could you plan to leave work a bit early that day? I’d really prefer we aren’t rushing last minute.
M: Sure.

W: ⑧Hi Mike! I’m good, just up to my neck in things these days. I’m tutoring my younger sister in French.
M: I see. Well, now that your exams are over, any chance you’re free tonight? I was hoping to catch that new sci-fi film.
W: I wish I could, but I can’t. ⑨I have to pick up a friend arriving from out of town and I’ve promised to take her to see the night views, watch a show, and try some of our local cuisine.
M: Alright. Are you available this weekend, then?
W: Sorry, I’ve planned to go to an art exhibition with my parents. It’s a family arrangement.

W: Wow, I had no idea you were such an environmentalist!
Text 9
W: Hey David, (14)weren’t you looking for a good language learning app?
M: Yes, I was.
W: (14)I just came across one called LangoPlay. It teaches around 3,000 words through a game form. Sounds fun, doesn’t it?
M: Is there a reason for that number?
W: (15)Those words make up about 98% of everyday spoken English. So, you can handle most daily conversations once you know them.
M: That sounds useful. But is the app itself boring?
W: Not at all. You learn by going through a story.
M: That’s better than just memorizing! Is it only for young people? My mom wants to learn English but finds other methods hard.
W: It’s for all ages! (16)It uses a right-brain learning approach instead of forcing memorization, which apparently works very well for people over fifty too. (17)And there’s no pressure to compete. You can learn at your own speed.
M: That’s good. Can I review lessons if I don’t understand something?
W: Definitely. You can repeat sections as many times as you need until you master them. It really makes learning simpler for everyone.
M: Thanks for sharing!
Text 10
W: (18)It turns out that fast food isn’t as fast as it used to be. A study from a magazine shows that McDonald’s drive-through service is now slower than at any time in the last fifteen years. It now takes about six minutes and fifteen seconds for customers to get their food after ordering. That’s one minute slower than the latest average for the industry, and much slower than it was ten years ago.
McDonald’s wasn’t alone in slowing down: Other chains also saw their drive-through performance slow down. (19)Among the reasons for the slower service, today there are more choices on the menu, and some food items are more complex and take longer to prepare. Speed is very important for the drive-through experience. In fact, drive-through service is a major part of the business for chains.
Sam Oches is an editor of the magazine. (20)She notes that “usually, sixty to seventy percent of a fast-food restaurant’s sales come from the drive-through.” Of course, customers also want their orders to be correct. And on that point, Oches says that accuracy is still really high.

56. established 57. stability 58. by 59. safer 60. has grown 61. where 62. holds 63. earning 64. and 65. treasures
The first five national parks为被动关系,所以用过去分词established作后置定语。
故填by。
故填has grown。
故填where。
故填and。
Dear Editor,
Learning that our school English newspaper is collecting proposals for the campaign “Upgrading Our School Library”, I am writing to present my practical suggestions.
Our school library currently has several shortcomings. A large number of books are outdated and fail to provide up-to-date information. Additionally, its limited opening hours restrict students’ access to reading resources. Furthermore, the lack of study areas and charging ports greatly affects students’ learning experience.
To address these issues effectively, I would like to put forward the following solutions. First, the library should update its book collections on a regular basis to enrich reading resources. Second, it is advisable to extend opening hours, especially on weekends. Besides, more study facilities should be equipped and quiet study zones divided to create a better learning atmosphere.
I sincerely hope my proposals will contribute to the improvement of our school library.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
Possible version
Paragraph 1:Suddenly, one of my classmates stopped and fixed his eyes on my paper-cuttings. He was a quiet boy from Germany whom I had barely talked to before. He leaned in closer, carefully examining the paper-cut of a rabbit, and murmured, “This is unbelievable. How can you make such detailed patterns with just paper and scissors?” His genuine curiosity caught the attention of a few other students nearby. They gathered around, asking questions about the meanings behind the peonies and the lanterns. I took a deep breath, picked up a piece of red paper, and began to show them the basic steps. As the paper gradually turned into a simple flower, their eyes widened with amazement. The loneliness I had felt moments ago began to fade.
Paragraph 2:What happened next made me realize the real power of Chinese traditional culture. More and more students came to my booth, eager to try paper-cutting themselves. Some struggled with the scissors, cutting out imperfect shapes, but they laughed and proudly showed their works to each other. The German boy successfully made a small “Fu” character. When I explained that it represented good fortune and happiness, he carefully placed it in his notebook, saying he would keep it forever. At that moment, I understood that true cultural charm does not need loud promotion. It quietly touches people’s hearts through patience, sincerity, and shared joy. My disappointment completely disappeared, replaced by deep pride and warmth. I no longer doubted the power of our traditional art — it had built a bridge of understanding, one small paper-cut at a time.
