Innovative Glasses Make It Safe to Drive at Night
Did you know that more than 40 percent of all deadly car accidents occur at night? A recent breakthrough eyeglass technology has made it safe to drive at night. It's almost like having "X-ray" vision while driving.
Spend money on your safety and peace of mind behind the wheel with a pair of these cutting-edge night driving glasses. The amount of car accidents that occur at night is mostly the result of poor visibility. Even with 60% less traffic on the road at night, accidents still happen due to blinding light and just overall bad driving visibility.
Imagine being able to clearly see what's in front of you and what's approaching, even if it's very dark and foggy. Once you start wearing ClearView night glasses, you'll feel much more confident and safe driving when it's getting dark. With ClearView you will notice an instant reduction in strong light from oncoming traffic and bright street lights.
This is because the special yellow lens tint (镜片色彩) can block strong blue light, and increase contrast. ClearView passes the global traffic light standard for safer sharper vision at night with flying colors.
You can start using ClearView immediately even if you wear glasses. Simply place ClearView on top of your glasses and be amazed by the difference this technology makes!
Is it worth it? Absolutely! Keep a pair in each of your cars to make sure you have your glasses at hand when night comes. If you care about your family's safety then this is a no-brainer.
21.According to the text, the main cause of unsafe driving at night is
A. heavy traffic B. low visibility C.poor eyesight D.mindless driving
22.How does ClearView make it safe to drive at night?
A. It cures night blindness.
B. It passes the national standard.
C. It provides "X-ray" vision for drivers.
D.It reduces the brightness of strong light.
23.What is the purpose of the last paragraph?
A.To inform. B. To explain. C. To promote. D.To entertain.

"Can I have that banana? I'm still hungry," said a sixth-grade student staring at a bin full of unopened bananas, apples, milk, and a couple of unopened, plastic-wrapped sandwiches at a public middle school in Fayetteville, Arkansas recently.
These unopened items are the result of a student food waste examination conducted in partnership with the school's Green Team, the University of Arkansas, and the World Wildlife Fund. Some trays (托盘) have been picked clean, some picked over, and others hold untouched, unopened foods. And, while some students are totally satiated (吃饱的),others remain hungry.
Connecting the dots between these two kinds of students is the idea of a "share table," a way to address both student hunger and food waste in school meal programs during the school year and summer.
Share tables are exactly what they sound like: places to drop off things like packages of carrots, bananas, or apples, or unopened cartons (盒) of milk for other students to pick up free of charge.
With the USDA's encouragement, a growing number of school lunch programs across the country are now offering share tables. There are a number of benefits-- economic, environmental, and public health- for supporting share tables. Share tables enable us to use the federal tax dollars we invest in feeding 31 million kids each day for their highest and greatest good. When students offer their unopened, unconsumed foods to other students, they expand the impact of our investment in their food security. Share tables also promote the morality of food conservation and respect for the impacts of food waste. And decomposing food in landfills creates and gives off powerful greenhouse gases. Habituating children to share their uneaten food is also a public health "push" that can influence dietary choices at home and the behavior patterns they will carry into adulthood.
Fayetteville sixth-grade science teacher Brandy Pledger said her students love the school's share table. "What they don't take, we teachers take back to our classroom or departmental refrigerators to share with students in the afternoons and / or in after-school programs."
Why does the author mention the unopened food?
A. To highlight the need for improved school meals.
B. To show the problem of leftovers in school.
C. To promote a school lunch programme.
D. To illustrate school food waste issues.
What is "share tables" used for in school lunch programs?
A. Providing comfortable eating space.
B.Distributing extra food to students in need.
C. Encouraging food sharing among students.
D. Collecting food donations from the community
What can be inferred from the adoption of "share tables"?
A. It addresses food security.
B. It decreases the federal tax.
C. It helps save the environment.
D. It develops healthy eating habits.
What can we learn about "share tables" from the last paragraph?
A. It takes ages to see the results.
B. It is highly profitable.
C. It has limited availability.
D.It is well received.

Where does fatigue come from? It doesn't come from the body.Even when people exercise to extreme exhaustion (筋疲力尽),studies have shown that there is fuel left in the tank- one found there was enough energy left in human tissue for participants to have kept going for another seven or eight minutes. The brain puts the brakes on, stepping in to stop us from overusing and injuring ourselves long before we reach our actual limits.
According to the latest research, our physical endurance (耐力) is determined by our "sense of effort"-how much work the brain thinks that the body has done. But the brain can be tricked. In Brazil, a group of scientists improved power output in cyclists by 10% by running a small electric current through the brain. Elsewhere, it has been shown that giving athletes incorrect information about the temperature can help them keep their performance in hot conditions, and that lying to them about their split times can help them break personal bests.
In one study, Professor Samuele Marcora asked two groups of soldiers to do a time-to-exhaustion test, where they were asked to ride at a fixed percentage of their maximum until they couldn't any more. After 12 weeks of training the control group's time-to-exhaustion had improved by 42%. The other group performed a mentally laborious task alongside their physical training sessions. Their time to exhaustion improved by 115%.
For your brain, running five miles after a hard day's work feels like the last five miles of a much longer run. It offers a much better workout for your willpower. It's mind over matter, and fortunately for athletes, the mind is much easier to control.
What does the underlined word "fatigue" mean in paragraph 1?
A. Pain. B. Tiredness. C. Injury. D.Energy.
According to paragraph 2, what is the main factor determining physical endurance?
A. Brain's perception. B. Body fuel reserves. C. Muscle strength. D. Physical training.
What can be inferred from the study led by Samuele Marcora?
A. Multitasking raises body limits.
B. Brain tricks strengthen willpower.
C. Mental burnout boosts performance.
D. Psychological suggestion unlocks potential.
31.What is probably the best title for the text?
A. Keep on Running: Train Your Brain
B. How to Avoid Over-Exercising
C. Willpower Can Defeat Laziness
D. Don't Trust Your Brain
D
A vague image shows a nearly naked (赤裸的) man in a vast field of rainforest, spear held up to the sky and pointed at both the helicopter and photographer circling above him-a man defending his territory and people from outside influence.
This very scene made front-page news some years ago in the UK. It instantly highlighted the loss of ancestral homelands some tribal communities (部落社区) face as a result of ever-expanding plantations. However, bad news has a way of dominating the headlines, so we're of the opinion that all aboriginal communities are in decline-and that's not true.
During my travels through India, Afghanistan and Pakistan in the early nineties, I spent some time living with the Kalash, a tribe that inhabits three valleys in the Hindu Kush mountain range. I became firm friends with Saifullah, the chief spokesperson, and we're still in touch to this day.
Back then I remember talking to a very serious aid worker in the American Club in Peshawar who told me straightly the Kalash, surrounded by conservative Islam, had no chance of survival and would be gone in 10 years. That was 25 years ago. When I caught up with Saifullah recently, I asked what his response was to those who claim Kalash culture is dying.
"It's not true,"he exclaimed."The Kalash culture and community is as strong today as it was when you first came. We still have our festivals. We still have a shaman, bow shakers, and Qazis - people, who are holding the culture, the religion. Our younger people are becoming more proud of their culture -- they know they are different and they like it. Many are learning the old ways from their fathers," he added. "There are now over 4,000 Kalasha. Back in the 1970s they were maybe 2,500."
Will Millard, a TV presenter who spent a year living with the Korawai of West Papua, agrees. "Perhaps tribal communities aren't in decline, but just in transition (转型),"he told me. "As a human society, we are in a constant state of change. We accuse them of losing their culture because they're wearing clothes, or using a gun instead of arrows, but a T-shirt doesn't make them any less of a Korawai man. Culture lives below the surface," added Millard.
What is the purpose of paragraph 1?
A. To present an argument B. To give a definition.
C.To make a comparison. D. To reach a conclusion.
What is the author's attitude towards some media views about tribal communities?
A. Sceptical. B. Disapproving. C.Uncaring. D.Ambiguous.
How has the culture of the Kalash changed in the last 25 years?
A. The Kalash culture has been declining.
B. The young generation has lost their traditions.
C. Original culture has made Kalash people richer
D. Kalash people have increased awareness of their unique culture.
What is the main idea of the last paragraph?
A. Tribal culture is worth preserving.
B. Tribal communities have been damaged.
C."Disappearing" culture remains the same as before.
D. Traditional communities' lives are changing.

How to Create the Perfect Spring Planter
Spring containers are an easy solution for jazzing up a colorless balcony and boring corners of any garden at this time of year.36________
Choosing the right container is important. Always think about the style of your garden. 37________ They are solid pots for spring as they don't blow over in those early spring winds. Check that the pot has a large drainage (排水) hole to ensure that the soil drains well, but always cover it with a crock (like a piece from a broken flower planter) so that the soil doesn't block the hole and create problems with drainage later down the line.
Choosing the right compost (堆肥) is the key to the success of any planting.I think it's best to use soil-based compost so that the soil does not become too heavy or waterlogged, especially in spring when we could have plenty of showers. 38________ And too much water in the soil will freeze, preventing the plants from taking up the vital water.
Plant combinations are important, so always think about mixes which will last as well as annual and perennial (多年生的) ones.39________A bunch of pots forces the eye to look around and take in each pot and plant combination. A nice option is planting summer flowers like Dahlia or Lily to create a summer impact.
40________ It can be achieved by using tall plants. If you don't have a tall plant then you can always raise your pot off the ground with old house bricks or decorative pot feet, or use steps in your garden to create interest and drama.
A pleasant smell is always a lovely addition to a space as well as wildlife. Select the right plant for your location in your garden -sun or shade-loving.
A. I like good, weighty planters.
B. It can still be frosty right up to May.
C. And besides, they are so easy to care for.
D. I also like to group pots together in different sizes.
E. Capitalize on those variations to help choose companions.
F. You may find some of these plants in smaller pots or even multi-packs.
G. Height is important to think about when you're designing your arrangement.

Nancy Abell was out for a day hike in the mountains of Washington state in October when she first spotted a hiker in a red jacket heading north towards Canada without snowshoes.
Katharina Groene traveled from Munich determined to hike the entire 2,650-mile Pacific Crest Trail after feeling like she'd lost her faith in humanity. She decided she had to do something about her life before she let it crash and burn through self-destruction. She carried a huge backpack with a tent, clothes and food and headed out on the Pacific Crest Trail - the exact storyline in the Reese Witherspoon movie WILD, based on the book written by Cheryl Strayed, which inspired her long hike.
Katharina started at the trailhead, journeyed north and made it all the way to the Glacier Peak Wilderness: an alpine mountain range in Washington that is considered the hardest part of the entire trail.
Since the area is prone (易于遭受) to snow storms, most people try and finish the trail by September, but when October rolled around and Katharina found herself within 200 miles of Canada, she couldn't bear to turn around when she was so close to her goal, despite Nancy's advice to do so.
Katharina and Nancy spent several hours chatting while hiking side-by-side along the trail until they eventually parted ways. Nancy, however, could not stop worrying about the German hiker, so she made sure that she checked the daily weather forecasts along the trail from her home in Salta, Washington.
Only a few days later, a storm rolled in. Concerned for her new friend, Nancy posted on a local hiker's forum (论坛) asking if anyone had met a German hiker headed north. Someone reported they had run into her two days previously -but no one had seen her since.
注意:
