Most people have probably seen a movie about an AI tool or a robot that has become so smart that it can take over the world. At present, there are no such AI tools or robots. But scientists have been working to improve AI models. Some recent models can create realistic photos from a short written description. Others can recreate anyone’s voice based on (基于) a voice recording just a few seconds long.
The AI tool that has got the most attention recently is ChatGPT, created by the company OpenAI. When asked a question, ChatGPT answers quickly in perfect sentences. It makes up stories and games, writes articles, programs computers, and much more. ChatGPT appears to be very intelligent (智能的). But really, ChatGPT is simply guessing—based on its training information—which word is most likely to come next, over and over again.
In March, OpenAI developed a more powerful model, called GPT-4. GPT-4 can create and explain jokes, and pass tests that are difficult for humans. The rapid progress of recent AI models worries some people. In late March, many computer experts wrote a letter calling for a six-month pause (暂停) for any work on AI tools.
The letter says AI companies race to create “smart AI tools” that no one can “understand, predict, or…control”. The group behind the letter wants governments to develop laws (法律) to make sure AI tools are safe.
ChatGPT has caused so much excitement that many companies are likely to keep developing smart AI tools. But the letter has sent a strong warning that many people—including leaders—will be thinking about carefully.
36. What can we know from the first paragraph?
A. AI models are becoming intelligent.
B. Scientists get new ideas from movies.
C. Things in movies will happen in the real world.
D. Robots will not take over the world in the future.
37. Which question is not answered in Paragraph 2?
A. Who created ChatGPT. B. What ChatGPT can do.
C. How ChatGPT works. D. How popular ChatGPT is.
38. What do the underlined words “more powerful”mean?
A. Quieter. B. Stronger. C. More comfortable. D. More beautiful.
39. Why did many computer experts write the letter?
A. They advised people to use ChatGPT properly.
B. They wanted to explain why GPT-4 was much safer.
C. They hoped AI companies could solve real-life problems.
D. They warned leaders that AI tools would become dangerous.
40. Which of the following is TRUE?
A. Computer experts think ChatGPT is good enough.
B. GPT-4 can take the place of humans to do any work.
C. AI companies are competing to develop smart AI tools.
D. Scientists are working to create AI tools bigger than GPT-4.
(D)
Upcycling is the process of changing old materials into something useful and often beautiful.
So, is it the same as recycling? No. Recycling takes materials -paper or glass-and breaks them down so their base materials can be reused to make a new product. When you upcycle an item, you are not breaking down the material, you are simply refashioning it. For example, you might make shoes out of old tyres. Also, the upcycled item is typically of the same, or even better, quality than the original(原来的).
Upcycling isn't a new idea. Some of the best examples of modern-day upcycling come from the 1930s to 1940s when families didn't have enough materials. In those days, things were repurposed over and over until there were no longer useful. For example, an old door can be changed into a new dining table. Saving is still a trend(趋势)today and a big reason why more and more people upcycle. But an even bigger reason for the rebirth of upcycling is its good influence on the environment.
Upcycling is green. The plain and simple fact of the matter is that upcycling is much better for the planet than throwing things away. When you upcycle, that's one item less that ends up on the waste mountain. Upcycling is also considerably more environmentally friendly than recycling, which needs energy or water to break down materials. Upcycling just needs your own creativity and effort. For example, Grace Robinson, from the UK, takes used tea bags and turns them into dresses, shoes and even hats.
There are two ways to support the upcycling movement. Sort through your recycling bins and create items yourself, or buy ready-made items from upcycled materials. Both ways do good to the environment and in returm, you get something that's both attractive and practical.
41. What can we know about upeycling according to the passage?
A. It can improve the qualiny of items. B. It needs more energy than recycling.
C. It needs to break down base materials. D. It produces more waste than recycling
42. The underlined word "refaslioning" in Paragaph 2 probably means"_______".
A. giving a new form B. giving a fashionable name
C. making a perfect copy D. making a chemical change
43. We can learn from the passage that_______.
A. recycling needs people to be more creative
B. it is important to help others to upcycle
C. it is not difficult for us to upcycle clothes
D. upcycling is much greener than recycling
44. What'sthe best title for the passage?
A. Get started to recycle today B. A modern trend: upcycling
C. Is upcycling the same as recycling? D. To recycle or to upcycle?
45. Which of the following is True?
A. It is very easy to carry out upcycling in our work.
B. The writer tells us many ways to begin upcycling.
C. Tea bags can become whatever we like by upcycling.
D. Upcycling can reduce lots of items that become waste.

The rapid development of technology has brought great changes to our life.
First, technology makes communication easier and transportation faster. Second, it changes how we learn. We can get knowledge online conveniently.
