【17题详解】
句意:上个月,我弄丢了一块手表,那是我父亲送给我的18岁生日礼物。

Body language is important in communication. However, the same body language can have very different meanings in different cultures. Here are some examples.
In the West, people like to look at each other when they talk. Strong eye contact (交流) is very common in Spain, Greece and Arab countries. People from Finland and Japan are embarrassed (尴尬的) when others keep staring (盯着) at them during a talk. They only make eye contact at the start of a discussion.
Tipping (轻敲) your nose means “secret” in England. In Italy, the same gesture means “be careful”.
Nodding your head usually means “yes”. But in Bulgaria (保加利亚) and Greece, nodding up and down means “no”.
In many cultures, like Italy and the US, people use their arms freely when talking. They often wave their arms around. Northern Europeans don’t like gesturing with their arms. They think it shows insincerity (不真诚) and is too dramatic (戏剧的). In Japan, gesturing with broad arm movements is thought to be impolite.
Sitting cross-legged is common in North America and some European countries. In many countries in Asia and the Middle East, sitting like this is not respectful.
26. In which of the following countries is strong eye contact very common during a talk?
A. Japan. B. Spain. C. Finland. D. Bulgaria.
27. When an Italian man tips his nose during a conversation, what may he want to say?
A. I agree. B. Be more careful. C. This is dramatic. D. Keep this a secret.
28. Linda was travelling in Greece. She met a local man who could speak English. Linda asked him, “Do you know where Acropolis (卫城) Museum is?” The man nodded. What did he mean?
A. He had heard the question.
B. He thought the question was rude.
C. He didn’t know where the museum was.
D. He knew where the museum was and wanted to tell her.
【答案】26. B 27. B 28. C
【解析】
【导语】本文是一篇说明文,介绍了不同文化中肢体语言的不同含义。
【26题详解】
由第二段“Strong eye contact is very common in Spain, Greece and Arab countries.”可知,西班牙是常见的。
【27题详解】
由第三段“Tipping your nose means ‘secret’ in England. In Italy, the same gesture means ‘be careful’.”可知,在意大利轻敲鼻子表示“小心”,因此他想说“Be more careful.”。
【28题详解】
由第四段“But in Bulgaria and Greece, nodding up and down means ‘no’.”可知,在希腊,点头表示“不”。因此对方点头意思是他不知道博物馆在哪里。
B
Did you hear the news? When Shenzhou-20 was ready to come home, a tiny piece of space junk (太空垃圾) hit it! Luckily, the astronauts came back safely, but it made people think about a big problem — space junk.
Space junk is all the rubbish that humans have left in space. This includes old satellites (卫星), used rocket (火箭) parts, and tiny pieces from crashes (碰撞). In 2009, two satellites hit each other and created thousands of space junk pieces! Astronauts also lose small things in space sometimes. In 1965, astronaut Ed White lost a glove during a spacewalk. When we started exploring space, we started making space junk.
Space junk is a growing problem. It flies around Earth at about 20,000 km per hour! So even a small piece can damage a spacecraft (航天器). There are over 36,000 big pieces and millions of smaller ones moving around our planet. More junk means more crashes and even more junk.
Scientists are thinking of ways to clean it up. All countries need to work together to keep space safe. After all, space is valuable for everyone. By working together, we can solve this problem and continue our exciting space journey.
29. What can we know from Paragraph 2?
A. What space junk is. B. How space junk moves.
C. How to clean up space junk. D. Why space junk is dangerous.
30. The underlined word “damage” in Paragraph 3 means ________.
A. protect B. follow C. harm D. find
31. What is the writer’s purpose of writing this text?
A. To tell readers a piece of sad news.
B. To show a new way to clean space junk.
C. To describe the history of space exploration.
D. To warn people about the danger of space junk.
【答案】29. A 30. C 31. D
【解析】
【导语】本文是一篇说明文,文章详细介绍了太空垃圾的定义、来源及其对航天事业造成的巨大威胁,并呼吁全球合作共同应对这一挑战。
【29题详解】
第二段第一、二句“Space junk is all the rubbish that humans have left in space. This includes old satellites...”明确给出了太空垃圾的定义及具体包含的物品,由此可知,从第二段中我们可以了解到什么是太空垃圾。
【30题详解】
第三段“It flies around Earth at about 20,000 km per hour! So even a small piece can damage a spacecraft.”,提到太空垃圾绕地球运行的速度极快(每小时2万公里),因此即便是很小的一块碎片也能“damage”航天器,结合上下文语境,“损坏”航天器即是对其造成伤害,故“damage”与“harm”意思接近。
【31题详解】
文章从突发新闻入手,分析了太空垃圾的构成和极高的运行速度,最后一段强调“All countries need to work together to keep space safe”,纵观全文,作者的主要目的是为了警示人们关注太空垃圾所带来的危险。

A
Body language is important in communication.
