1. 展示而非告知(show, don't tell):别写 he was happy / nervous,用动作、神态、身体反应去写(手发抖、眼睛湿了、心跳如鼓)。
1. 时态:与原文保持一致,通常用一般过去时;
1. 人称:原文用第几人称,续写就用第几人称;
1. 衔接:多用 as / when / the moment / to one's surprise / before long 把句子连起来;
1. 不要照抄原文句子;段首句已给出、不计入词数,但必须顺着它往下写;
(Story)
It was a cold winter evening. Tom, a fifteen-year-old boy, was walking home from school when he noticed a brown wallet lying on the snowy ground. He picked it up and looked inside. There was a thick stack of money, an ID card and a photo of a smiling old couple. The name on the card was Mr. Green, who lived on Pine Street nearby. Tom's family was poor, and the money could buy the new bike he had dreamed of for months. He stood there for a long time, his heart beating fast. Finally, he made up his mind and walked toward Pine Street.
(Paragraph Openers)
Paragraph 1: Tom knocked at the door of Mr. Green's house.
Paragraph 2: A week later, a special gift arrived at Tom's home.
(Para 1) Tom knocked at the door of Mr. Green's house. An old man opened the door. Tom gave him the wallet. The old man was very happy. He said thank you to Tom. He wanted to give Tom some money but Tom said no. Then Tom went home. He felt happy because he did a good thing.
(Para 2) A week later, a special gift arrived at Tom's home. It was a new bike. There was a letter from Mr. Green. He said Tom was a good boy. Tom was very excited. He thanked Mr. Green. Tom was very happy. He learned that being honest is good.
(Upgraded)
(Para 1) Tom knocked at the door of Mr. Green's house. The door opened slowly, and a grey-haired man looked at him with tired eyes. With trembling hands, Tom held out the wallet. “I think this is yours, sir.” For a moment the old man froze, then his eyes grew wet. He counted the money carefully and pressed a few notes into Tom's palm, but the boy gently pushed them back and shook his head. As Tom walked home through the falling snow, his empty pockets felt strangely light, and a warm smile spread across his face.
(Para 2) A week later, a special gift arrived at Tom's home. In the yard stood a shining new bike, a red ribbon tied to its handlebar. A note fluttered in the wind: “For an honest young man — the richest boy I have ever met.” Tom's hands shook as he read the words again and again. He thought of that snowy evening, of the choice he had almost not made, and his eyes blurred. Sometimes, he finally understood, what we give away comes back to us in ways we never expect.
· his eyes grew wet
· pressed a few notes into his palm
· a warm smile spread across his face
(Story)
Mia had always been afraid of speaking in public. Her voice would shake and her face would turn red whenever everyone looked at her. This year, however, her teacher encouraged her to join the school speech contest. For weeks Mia practiced her speech in front of the mirror every night, though deep inside she was still terrified. Finally the big day came. Sitting backstage, she could hear the loud applause for the speaker before her, and her heart pounded like a drum. Then she heard the host call her name.
(Paragraph Openers)
Paragraph 1: With shaking legs, Mia stepped onto the stage.
Paragraph 2: When the result was announced, Mia could hardly believe her ears.
(Para 1) With shaking legs, Mia stepped onto the stage. She was very nervous. She looked at the people. There were many people. She started her speech. At first her voice was small. But later she became better. She finished her speech. Everyone clapped for her.
(Para 2) When the result was announced, Mia could hardly believe her ears. She won the first prize. She was very happy and excited. Her teacher and classmates were happy too. Mia thought practice is very important. She was not afraid of speaking now.
1. very nervous / very happy and excited
1. 衔接弱:句子各自为政,缺 as / the moment / to her surprise。
(Upgraded)
(Para 1) With shaking legs, Mia stepped onto the stage. The bright lights blinded her, and the faces below blurred into a sea of shadows. Her throat went dry as she opened her mouth, and the first words came out almost in a whisper. Then, in the front row, she caught sight of her teacher nodding gently and smiling. The moment steadied her racing heart. Taking a deep breath, she lifted her chin and let her voice ring out, clear and strong. When she spoke the last line, the whole hall fell silent — and then burst into thunderous applause.
(Para 2) When the result was announced, Mia could hardly believe her ears. “First prize goes to Mia!” For a second she stood frozen, then tears she could not hold back rolled down her cheeks. Her classmates rushed up and lifted her into the air, while her teacher gave her a proud thumbs-up from afar. Holding the shining trophy against her chest, Mia looked out at the crowd she had once feared. She realized that courage was not the absence of fear, but the choice to speak in spite of it.
· the bright lights blinded her 刺眼的灯光让她睁不开眼
· blurred into a sea of shadows
· her throat went dry
· the moment steadied her racing heart
· burst into thunderous applause
第 3 篇 Help in the Snowstorm (助人 · 温暖)
(Story)
On a freezing winter night, the Carter family was driving home after a long trip. Snow fell heavily and the road was almost empty. Suddenly, in the headlights, they saw an old man standing beside a broken-down car, waving his arms desperately. He looked pale and was shivering in the cold wind. Mr. Carter slowed down. “Should we stop?” he asked. It was late, the children were tired, and stopping in such weather could be dangerous. But looking at the helpless old man, Mr. Carter pulled over to the side of the road.
(Paragraph Openers)
Paragraph 1: Mr. Carter rolled down the window and asked the old man what had happened.
Paragraph 2: Months later, the Carters received an unexpected phone call.
(Para 1) Mr. Carter rolled down the window and asked the old man what had happened. The old man said his car was broken. He was very cold. The Carters let him sit in their car. They turned on the heater and gave him some hot water. The old man felt warm. He said thank you many times. Then they called for help.
(Para 2) Months later, the Carters received an unexpected phone call. It was from the old man. He invited them to his home. They went there. There was a big dinner. The old man thanked them again. Everyone was happy. The Carters were glad they helped him. Helping others is a good thing.
Helping others is a good thing
(Upgraded)
(Para 1) Mr. Carter rolled down the window and asked the old man what had happened. Through chattering teeth, the old man explained that his car had died in the storm. Without a second thought, the family helped him into the warm back seat and wrapped him in a thick blanket. Mrs. Carter handed him a cup of steaming tea, and slowly the colour returned to his frozen cheeks. While they waited for the rescue truck, the children shared their snacks, and the old man's grateful eyes shone in the dim light. The cold night no longer felt so cold.
(Para 2) Months later, the Carters received an unexpected phone call. It was the old man, his voice warm and trembling, inviting them to a spring dinner at his home. When they arrived, the table was covered with home-cooked dishes, and on the wall hung a framed photo of that snowy night. “You didn't just save a stranger,” the old man said, raising his glass, “you reminded me that kindness still drives down every road.” Outside, the first flowers of spring were blooming, and the whole room felt full of light.
· wrapped him in a thick blanket
· the colour returned to his frozen cheeks
· his grateful eyes shone
· the cold night no longer felt so cold
(Story)
One sunny morning, Lily and her younger brother Sam were playing in the garden when they heard a weak chirping under the big maple tree. There, on the grass, lay a little bird with a hurt wing, unable to fly. Its tiny body trembled with every breath. “We have to help it!” cried Sam. Their mother brought a small box and some soft cloth, and together they made a warm little home for the bird. For days, the children fed it, kept it safe and watched over it carefully, hoping it would get well again.
(Paragraph Openers)
Paragraph 1: One morning, the children noticed that the bird's wing had healed.
Paragraph 2: Standing in the garden, they slowly opened the box.
(Para 1) One morning, the children noticed that the bird's wing had healed. They were very happy. The bird could move its wing now. It looked stronger. Lily and Sam were excited. They wanted the bird to fly again. Their mother said they should let it go. The children agreed. But they were a little sad.
(Para 2) Standing in the garden, they slowly opened the box. The bird flew out. It flew into the sky. It was free now. Lily and Sam waved goodbye. They were happy and sad. They learned that loving something means letting it go. It was a good day.
1. very happy / excited / happy and sad
1. 鸟飞走的那一瞬间是全文高潮,却只用 flew out / flew into the sky 草草带过,太可惜。
(Upgraded)
(Para 1) One morning, the children noticed that the bird's wing had healed. It hopped eagerly around the box and flapped its wings, as if begging for the open sky. Lily's face lit up, yet a strange ache tugged at her heart. “It's time,” their mother said softly, resting a hand on her shoulder. Sam bit his lip and nodded. They knew that the little life in their care no longer belonged to a box — it belonged to the wind and the clouds.
(Para 2) Standing in the garden, they slowly opened the box. For a moment the bird paused on the edge, turning its bright eyes toward the children as if to say goodbye. Then, with a sudden burst of energy, it shot into the morning air, its wings flashing golden in the sunlight. Higher and higher it climbed, until it became a tiny dot against the blue. Lily wiped her eyes and smiled. Some kinds of love, she understood at last, are measured not by holding on, but by the courage to let go.
· flapped its wings as if begging for the open sky
· a strange ache tugged at her heart
· its wings flashing golden in the sunlight
· became a tiny dot against the blue
· the courage to let go 放手的勇气
(Story)
Jack and his father had not really talked for months. Ever since Jack decided to study art instead of science, his father had gone quiet, and Jack believed the old man disapproved of his dream. One rainy afternoon, while looking for an umbrella in the storeroom, Jack discovered a dusty cardboard box hidden behind some old tools. Curious, he opened it. Inside were dozens of his own drawings — every picture he had thrown away over the years — carefully kept, smoothed flat and arranged by date. At the bottom lay an old sketchbook that did not belong to him.
(Paragraph Openers)
Paragraph 1: Jack opened the old sketchbook with trembling hands.
Paragraph 2: That evening, Jack walked quietly into his father's room.
(Para 1) Jack opened the old sketchbook with trembling hands. Inside were many drawings. They were his father's drawings. His father liked art when he was young. Jack was very surprised. He did not know this before. He understood his father now. He felt sorry.
(Para 2) That evening, Jack walked quietly into his father's room. His father was reading. Jack said sorry to him. He said he loved him. His father was moved. They hugged. They talked for a long time. Now they understood each other. Jack was very happy. Family is the most important thing.
1. felt sorry / was moved / very happy
Family is the most important thing。
(Upgraded)
(Para 1) Jack opened the old sketchbook with trembling hands. Page after page revealed delicate pencil drawings — mountains, rivers, and a young woman who looked just like his late grandmother. In the corner of each was a signature he knew too well: his father's. So the silent man who seemed to live only for numbers had once chased the very dream Jack was chasing now. On the last page, a faded line of handwriting read: “Dreams I gave up — may my son finish them for me.” Jack's vision blurred, and the storeroom suddenly felt very small.
(Para 2) That evening, Jack walked quietly into his father's room. The old man sat by the lamp, his glasses sliding down his nose. Jack placed the box gently on the desk. For a long moment, neither of them spoke. Then his father reached out and rested a rough, warm hand on the drawings. “I only ever wanted you to be braver than I was,” he murmured, his voice cracking. Jack knelt beside him, and the wall that had stood between them for months melted away. Outside, the rain had stopped, and through the window a soft moon was rising.
· page after page revealed
· a signature he knew too well 一个他再熟悉不过的签名
