With our eyes closed, we drew a name of a classmate from a basket. We should do nice things for our friends without letting them know who was doing it. We could leave encouraging notes or cards on their desks or in their schoolbags. Soon, the task was turned into a competition (比赛) of giving gifts instead of notes. Everyone was getting cool presents except me. I received nothing but cards with nice words about me. On the last morning, I finally got a gift. When I opened it, the girls around all laughed. It was perfumed powder (香粉), an “old lady” gift. My face went red. I tried to forget about the gift, but when the girls talked about it again in the bathroom, I joined in, “How stupid! My grandmother wouldn’t even want it.” The girls laughed and left the bathroom. Washing my hands, I let the water run through my fingers as I thought about my words. I regretted saying them to fit in with the girls. “I’m your secret friend.” It was Rachel. “I’m sorry about the gift,” she said to me in a low voice. From a poor family she was often laughed at by those with rich parents. Yet she just bore everything silently. I was sick to my stomach as my hurtful words ran through my mind. She heard everything. How could I be so cruel? Later I learned that she felt bad all week about not being able to leave me any cool present and her mum gave up her only luxury (奢侈品). I told her that I only said those things to try to fit in. “We aren’t that different from each other, are we?” she smiled. Her simple words, spoken from her heart, found their way straight into mine. 31. What task did the teacher give to them? A. Helping their deskmates with their study. B. Sharing lunch with one of their classmates. C. Drawing a picture of one student in their class. D. Doing nice things for a classmate secretly. 32. Which of the following cards might the writer have received during the week? A. B. C. D. 33. Why did the writer say those hurtful words? A. Because she thought the gift was cheap. B. Because she tried to fit in. C. Because she hated those girls. D. Because she wanted to be special. 34. How did the writer feel when she heard Rachel say “I’m sorry about the gift”? A. Sorry. B. Pleased. C. Angry. D. Proud. 35. What can we know from the text? A. Perfumed powder is a good gift for grandmothers. B. Rachel was brave enough to tell the girls the truth. C. The perfumed powder was the best gift Rachel could give. D. The writer wanted to be the most popular student in their school. D 32. D 33. B 34. A 35. 【31题详解】 由第一段“We should do nice things for our friends without letting them know who was doing it”可知,老师的任务是秘密地为一位同学做好事。 【32题详解】 由第二段“I received nothing but cards with nice words about me”可知,作者收到的卡片上是关于她的赞美之词。选项D的内容“You are beautiful inside and out .” 【33题详解】 由第四段“I regretted saying them to fit in with the girls”可知,作者说那些伤人的话是为了融入那些女孩。 【34题详解】 由第七段“I was sick to my stomach as my hurtful words ran through my mind”可知,当作者听到Rachel道歉时,她对自己的言行感到愧疚(sorry)。 【35题详解】 由第八段“her mum gave up her only luxury”可知,Rachel的妈妈放弃了自己唯一的奢侈品来买这份礼物,因此香粉是Rachel能给出的最好礼物,C项正确。由第四段和第五段“It was perfumed powder, an ‘old lady’ gift... ‘How stupid! My grandmother wouldn’t even want it’”可知,作者和其他女孩认为香粉是老奶奶用的礼物,连奶奶都不想要,因此并非“好礼物”,A项错误;由第五段“I‘m your secret friend... I’m sorry about the gift”可知,Rachel只对作者私下说了自己是秘密朋友,并未公开告诉其他女孩,因此B项错误;文中提到作者说伤人的话是为了“fit in with the girls”(融入女孩们),并非想成为全校最受欢迎的学生,D项错误。 C If you feel stressed at school, what can you do to make yourself happier? Some may eat their favorite food or listen to some music. Others may go for a walk or do some exercise. A new study found another great way to lower students’ stress—playing with dogs. Scientists studied 105 students between the ages of eight and nine. 35 trained dogs and their trainers also took part in the test. The children were divided into 3 groups. The students in the first group spent 20 minutes with a dog and its trainer. They watched the trained dogs perform and even played with them. They did this twice a week for 4 weeks. The second group spent the same amount of time (时长) doing exercise to relax. The last group did neither of these things. During this time, the scientists recorded the students’ cortisol levels Cortisol is a stress hormone (激素). The more stressed you feel, the more cortisol you will have in your body. What did the scientists find? Both the second and third groups showed rises (增加) in cortisol levels. The first group, however, showed no big increase. And the children in this group had the lowest cortisol levels right after playing with the dogs. According to the study, students enjoy playing with dogs, and it helps them become happier. The stress hormone falls over time this way, which is good for students’ health. But here comes the next question: Is 20 minutes of playtime with a dog the best amount of time? Scientists are going to keep working to find out the answer. 36. What’s the purpose of the first paragraph? A. To give us a surprise. B. To lead in the topic. C. To shock the readers. D. To show the latest research results. 37. What made the testing results of the three groups different? A. The time. B. The age. C. The activity. D. The place. 38. Which one shows the relationship between students’ stress (x) and cortisol levels (y)? A. B. C. D. 39. What does the underlined word “them” in the last paragraph refer to? A. Trainers. B. Students. C. Scientists. D. Dogs. 40. What may the scientists study next? A. More useful ways to lower stress. B. New skills of keeping pets at home. C. The amount of time to play with a dog. D. The most suitable kind of dog to play with. B 37. C 38. A 39. B 40. 【37题详解】 由第二段“The students in the first group spent 20 minutes with a dog and its trainer.”和“The second group spent the same amount of time doing exercise to relax. The last group did neither of these things.” 【38题详解】 由第三段“The more stressed you feel, the more cortisol you will have in your body”可知,压力越大,皮质醇水平越高,两者呈正相关关系。 随后说“it helps them become happier”(这帮助“他们”变得更快乐)。 【40题详解】 由最后一段“Scientists are going to keep working to find out the answer”以及前一句提出的问题“Is 20 minutes of playtime with a dog the best amount of time?” D Otters (水獭) are cute water animals. These days, keeping otters as pets is getting popular. In Japan, some “otter cafes” are open. People can pay to play with the otters there and to take photos with them. In Indonesia, people go swimming with their pet otters and take funny videos. These photos and videos posted online have interested more people to buy otters as pets. However, these photos and videos hide the damage (损害) that the online trade (交易) is doing to otters. In fact, wild otters are facing many threats — they have long been caught for their coats, in some places, fishermen have been killing otters in order to stop them from eating fish; and now, the online pet trade has become another big problem for otters. In the wild, baby otters usually stay with their mothers during their first year of life. But 70% of the otters sold online are under one year old. These baby otters have been stolen from their mothers. When they are kept as pets by people, they do not live full and natural lives. Otters are very social. They live in family groups of up to 15 in the wild. Keeping an otter as a pet can make it very sad and lonely. These animals also need enough space to swim. Their owners’ bathtubs (浴缸) or pools can never be as large as the bodies of water in the wild. On the other hand, otters are not good pets. They have a very special fishy smell. If they are kept indoors, they will leave a lot of waste around the house. This would make the smell even more unpleasant. Besides, when otters are unhappy, they will make loud noises and even attack (攻击) people. If an otter hurts a person, he or she needs to go to hospital at once. So, we should stop the otter pet trade and never share photos and videos about them online. 41. What’s the main idea of Paragraph 1? A. The ways of buying otters online. B. The advantages of playing with otters. C. The popularity of keeping otters as pets. D. The importance of having a special pet. 42. What does the underlined word “threats” in Paragraph 2 mean in Chinese? 43. What do we know about otters in the wild? A. They live in family groups of up to 15. B. They don’t need enough space to swim. C. Baby otters never stay with their mothers. D. Fishermen kill them for their great coats. 44. Which is NOT the true reason why otters don’t make good pets? A. They may attack people. B. They may make loud noises. C. They have a special fishy smell. D. They need to go to hospital often. 45. What is the writer’s main purpose in writing the text? A. To tell people the otters’ living habits. B. To teach people how to keep a pet otter. C. To introduce the look of the otters. D. To call on people to stop the otter pet trade. C 42. C 43. A 44. D 45. 【42题详解】 根据第二段画线词后的解释“— they have long been caught for their coats... killing otters... big problem”,可知野生水獭面临的是危险境地。 【43题详解】 根据第四段第二句“They live in family groups of up to 15 in the wild.”,可知选项 A 正确。选项 B 与文中“need enough space”相反;选项 C 与文中“stay with their mothers during their first year”相反;选项 D 中渔民杀水獭是为了防止它们吃鱼,而非为了皮毛(皮毛是泛指被捕杀的原因)。 文中提到“If an otter hurts a person, he or she needs to go to hospital”,是指人受伤后需要去医院,而不是水獭需要经常去医院,且这不是水獭不适合做宠物的直接特征原因。 【45题详解】 根据文章最后一段“So, we should stop the otter pet trade and never share photos and videos about them online.”,可知作者写作的主要目的是号召人们停止水獭宠物交易。 (共5小题;每小题1分,满分5分) E You have lots of things you'd like to do. But sometimes it's hard to get to the finish line-just like your goal. How can you break your bad habits and develop good ones? ___46___ Here are a few opinions we often get from kids, followed by ideas that might help. ● I can't get away from screens. ___47___ If you usually spend time lying on the sofa and watching TV programs or a video when you're bored, go somewhere else instead. Take a book to your room or your violin to the backyard. Or ask if you can help cook in the kitchen. ● ___48___ Start with "showing up. " Then take one small step or do one tiny task, followed by another and another. For example, how do I practice the piano? First sit at it. Then play one note at a time. Starting with a super-simple step often helps. Why? It's easy, quick, and gets you in action. ___49___ ● I have no time. Take a look at the choices you make about how you spend time. Do those choices show what's important to you? Can you spare 10 minutes a day to work on a goal? Let's suppose you want to be singer. ___50___ Talk with a parent about why your goal counts. Discuss whether you can let go of something less important to free up time to achieve it. A. Then keep taking steps. B. I can't start such a huge goal. C. And how can you try to reach your goals? D. To change a habit, try changing where you spend your time. E. Is it more important to practice singing than play video games? C 47. D 48. B 49. A 50. 【46题详解】 上句话“How can you break your bad habits and develop good ones?”提出问题,下句话“Here are a few opinions we often get from kids, followed by ideas that might help.” 【47题详解】 根据下句话“If you usually spend time lying on the sofa and watching TV programs or a video when you're bored, go somewhere else instead.” 【48题详解】 根据下文“Start with "showing up. " Then take one small step or do one tiny task, followed by another and another.” 【49题详解】 根据语境“Starting with a super-simple step often helps. Why? It's easy, quick, and gets you in action.” 【50题详解】 根据上文“Take a look at the choices you make about how you spend time. Do those choices show what's important to you? Can you spare 10 minutes a day to work on a goal?” 51. 你想知道福州的人口有多少,可以这样问: _________________________________ of Fuzhou? What’s the population of...? 故填What’s the population。 52. My hometown Quanzhou is really a wonderful city. __________________. Please come and visit it./ You are welcome to visit it./ I hope you can come and visit it. 前半句“My hometown Quanzhou is really a wonderful city.” 根据题干要求“请他(她)一定要来游玩一次”,需要使用表示邀请或建议的句型,有“Please come and visit it.”(请来参观它),或者“You are welcome to visit it.”(欢迎来参观),以及宾语从句“I hope you can come and visit it.”(我希望你能来参观)。 53. 你见到了多年未见的老朋友,你想说好久不见了,可以这样说: _____________________________. 54. Michael分享他在国庆节期间的旅游经历,你想感叹这次经历真精彩,可以这么说: _____________________________! 55. 多亏了朋友的帮助,你才按时完成了工作,你可以这样对朋友说: _________________, I finished the work on time. 56. since 2010 ____________________________ 57. last night ____________________________ 58. like, spare ____________________________ 59. already, finish ____________________________ 60. learn, for one month ____________________________ 【答案】56. She has learned English for one month. He has been an engineer since 2010.(他从2010年起就是一名工程师了。) They played chess last night. She likes playing volleyball in her spare time. He has already finished his homework.(他已经完成他的作业了。) She has learned English for one month.(她学英语已经一个月了。) Ⅶ. The Chongyang Festival is a Chinese traditional festival. B. C If you feel stressed at school, what can you do to make yourself happier? D. The most suitable kind of dog to play with. D Otters (水獭) are cute water animals. B.
