海南中学2024级高一第二次月考 英语试题 第一部分:阅读理解(共两节,满分50分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题2.5分,共37.5分) 阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该选项涂黑。 A If you are longing for a hike in Alaska and aren’t sure where to star, here are our favorites. There’s something for all levels of skills and ambitions. The Kenai River Trail A half mile down this trail are wonderful views of the Kenai River Canyon. There are really two trailheads(小道的起点); the main “upper” trail starts at mile 0.6 of Skilak Lake Rd, and the other at mile 2.3. Turnagain Arm Trail This 11-mile hike begins at Potter Trailhead (Mile 115). Initially used by Alaska Natives, the trail, can also be accessible to points along the way: McHugh Creck (Mile 112), Rainbow (Mile 108) and Windy (Mile 107). Iditarod National Historic Trail The National Historic Iditarod Trail is a 24-mile hike used by gold miners and sled-dog teams until 1918, when the Alaska Railroad was finished. It’s a two-to-three day hike through superb mountain scenery to Girdwood (where it’s known as the Crow Pass Trail), and is the region’s best backpack adventure. Put up a tent at Echo Bend (Mile 3), or rent one of two yurts(毡房) ($65 per night) close by. For a shorter outing you can turn around at the Perch, then return to the Dew Mound Trail at Echo Bend and then to the Nature Center, making this a scenic 8-mile trip. Reed Lakes Trail Two alpine lakes, waterfalls, glaciers and towering granite(花岗岩) walls: the 7-to-9-mile Reed Lakes Trail is one of the most wonderful hikes in the region, and worth the climb. Once you reach upper Reed Lake, continue 1 mile to Bomber Glacier, where the ruin of a B-29 bomber lies in memorial to six men who died in a 1957 crash. 1. Which route was originally used by Alaska Natives? A. The Kenai River Trail. B. Tunagain Arm Trail. C. Iditarod National Historic Trail. D. Reed Lakes Trail. 2. What will visitors see at Bomber Glacier? A. A memorial to six heroes. B. A tower made of granite. C. One of the most splendid waterfalls. D. The ruin of a B-29 bomber. 3. Who will be more interested in the text? A. Nature photographers. B. Sports lovers. C. Field researchers. D. Alaska explorers. 【答案】1. B 2. D 3. B 【解析】 【导语】这是一篇说明文。主要介绍了几条适合在阿拉斯加徒步旅行的线路。 【1题详解】 细节理解题。根据Turnagain Arm Trail中“Initially used by Alaska Natives, the trail, can also be accessible to points along the way:”(这条步道最初由阿拉斯加原住民使用,现在沿途也可以到达)可知,阿拉斯加原住民最初使用Turnagain Arm Trail这条路线。故选B项。 【2题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段中“Once you reach upper Reed Lake, continue 1 mile to Bomber Glacier, where the ruin of a B-29 bomber lies in memorial to six men who died in a 1957 crash.”(到达里德湖上游后,继续1英里到达轰炸机冰川(Bomber Glacier),那里有一架B-29轰炸机的残骸,以纪念在1957年的空难中丧生的6名男子。)可知,游客在轰炸机冰川会看到一架B-29轰炸机的残骸。故选D项。 【3题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章大意以及第一段“If you are longing for a hike in Alaska and aren’t sure where to star, here are our favorites. There’s something for all levels of skills and ambitions.”(如果你渴望在阿拉斯加徒步旅行,但不确定从哪里开始,这里是我们的最爱。有适合各种技能和雄心的东西。)可知,体育爱好者可能对这篇文章感兴趣。故选B项。 B It was an ordinary day when I got a message from my daughter’s kindergarten about an upcoming school dance performance. At first, I thought, “How wonderful, I can’t wait to see her perform!” But to my dismay, I discovered it wasn’t just the students, parents were expected to join as well. “Oh, my god. I’m short of rhythm, coordination (协调性) and having stage (舞台) fear. How could I take part in it?” That evening my idea was destroyed as my daughter came home excitedly, “Dad, this is going to be fun. We should wear matching pink T-shirts and stand at the front so everyone can see us.” And so, we began with practice in front of the television. My wife had luckily found a past performance on Douyin. At this point, I realised our performance would also end up online and any mistake could finally be turned into a joke. The stress had now been increased. The first at-home practice went as badly as you could imagine. And fast forward to Saturday and it was time for a group practice at school. Given the short notice, I expected the other parents to be struggling as much as me. I was wrong. They moved so well that they would equal to the dancers of Bolshoi Ballet. In the days to come we worked very hard and both our confidence and coordination improved quickly. My daughter moved like a swan (天鹅), while I still moved like an elephant. The day of the big show arrived and my nervousness became less. It turns out that getting nowhere near enough sleep before a big performance is the perfect cure for stage fear. Moreover, my daughter was having the time of her life and that alone powered me through. Reflecting on the past two weeks, I realized this experience had enriched us both. It marked the first time my daughter and I learned something new together. I find myself looking forward to similar events like this in the future. 4. What does the underlined word “dismay” probably mean in paragraph 1? A. Happiness. B. Anger. C. Surprise. D. Excitement. 5. What can we learn about the author? A. He didn’t sleep well before the big performance. B. He practised dancing with his daughter smoothly. C. He was very nervous when the big performance arrived. D. He had stress because he didn’t want to dance with his daughter. 6. What did the author realize after the big performance? A. He could dance as well as his daughter. B. The experience had brought a lot to his family. C. The other parents were struggling as much as him. D. Confidence and coordination are very important in the performance. 7. What is the best title of the passage? A. A Stage Experience: Excitement to Sadness B. A Dance Performance: Fear to Enjoyment C. A Stage Experience: Discovering Joy through Movement D. A Dance Performance: Getting out of Fear through Dance 【答案】4. C 5. A 6. B 7. B 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。文章讲述了作者因女儿幼儿园舞蹈表演家长也要参与而发愁,看到其他家长表现出色后努力练习。表演虽仍不完美,但作者因女儿很享受这个过程而坚持下来,回顾这段经历作者觉得收获颇丰,并且期待未来类似活动。 【4题详解】 词句猜测题。根据画线词的上文“At first, I thought, “How wonderful, I can’t wait to see her perform!” (起初,我想,“太棒了,我迫不及待地想看她的表演!”)”和下文“I discovered it wasn’t just the students, parents were expected to join as well. “Oh, my god. I’m short of rhythm, coordination (协调性) and having stage (舞台) fear. How could I take part in it?” (我发现不只是学生,家长们也被期望加入。“哦,我的天哪。我缺乏节奏感、协调性,还有舞台恐惧症。我怎么能参加呢?”)”可知,作者原本以为只有女儿需要表演,非常期待她的演出,后来发现家长居然也要参与其中,非常担心自己的表现。由此可知,家长也要参与其中的消息会令作者非常惊讶,画线词意思应该与Surprise“惊讶”一致。故选C项。 【5题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段中“It turns out that getting nowhere near enough sleep before a big performance is the perfect cure for stage fear. (事实证明,在大型演出前没有充足的睡眠是治疗舞台恐惧的最佳方法)”可推知,演出前作者没睡好。故选A项。 【6题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段中“Reflecting on the past two weeks, I realized this experience had enriched us both. It marked the first time my daughter and I learned something new together. (回顾过去的两个星期,我意识到这段经历丰富了我们俩。这是我和女儿第一次一起学习新的东西)”可知,在这场表演之后,作者意识到这次经历给他的家人带来了很多。故选B项。 【7题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第一段中“It was an ordinary day when I got a message from my daughter’s kindergarten about an upcoming school dance performance. C You get anxious if there’s no wi-fi in the hotel or mobile phone signal up the mountain. You feel upset if your phone is getting low on power and you secretly worry things will go wrong at work if you’re not there. All these can be called “always on” stress caused by smart phone addiction. For some people, smart phones have liberated them from the nine-to-five work. Flexible working has given them more autonomy (自主权) in their working lives and enabled them to spend more time with their friends and families. For many others though, smartphones have become tyrants in their pockets, never allowing them to turn them off, relax and recharge their batteries. Pittsburgh-based developer Kevin Holesh was worried about how much be was ignoring his family and friends in favor of his iPhone. So he developed an app — Moment — to monitor his usage. The app enables users to see how much time they’re spending on the device and set up warnings if the usage limits are broken. “Moment’s goal is to promote balance in your life,” his website explains. “Some time on your phone, some time off it enjoying your loving family and friends around you.” Dr. Christine Grant, an occupational psychologist at Coventry University, said, “The effects of this ‘always on’ culture are that your mind is never resting, and you’re not giving your body time to recover, so you’re always stressed. And the more tired and stressed we get, the more mistakes we make. Physical and mental health can suffer.” And as the number of connected smart phones is increasing, so is the amount of data. This is leading to a sort of decision paralysis (瘫痪) and is creating more stress in the workplace because people have to receive a broader range of data and communications which are often difficult to manage. “It actually makes it more difficult to make decisions and many do less because they’re controlled by it all and feel they can never escape the office,” said Dr. Christine Grant. 8. What’s the first paragraph mainly about? A. The popularity of smart phones. B. The progress of modern technology. C. The signs of “always on” stress. D. The cause of smartphone addiction. 9. Kevin Holesh developed Moment to ________. A. research how people use their mobile phones B. help people control their use of mobile phones C. make people spend more time with their family D. increase the fun of using mobile phones 10. What’s Dr. Christine Grant’s attitude towards “always on” culture? A. Confused. B. Positive. C. Doubtful. D. Critical. 11. According to the last paragraph, a greater amount of data means ________. A. we will become less productive B. we can make a decision more quickly C. we will be equipped with more knowledge D. we can work more effectively 【答案】8. C 9. B 10. D 11. A 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章描述了手机上瘾的症状,为了控制人们使用手机,平衡生活,Kevin Holesh开发了一个app来控制人们使用手机的时间。 【8题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第一段中的“You get anxious if there’s no wi-fi in the hotel or mobile phone signal up the mountain. You feel upset if your phone is getting low on power and you secretly worry things will go wrong at work if you’re not there. All these can be called “always on” stress caused by smartphone addiction. (如果酒店里没有Wi-Fi,或者山上没有手机信号,你会很焦虑。如果你的手机电量不足,你会感到不安,你私下里担心如果你不在场,工作就会出问题。所有这些都可以被称为由智能手机成瘾引起的“在线”压力)”可知,第一段主要讲述了“在线”压力的各种迹象。故选C。 【9题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中的“Pittsburghbased developer Kevin Holesh was worried about how much he was ignoring his family and friends in favor of his iPhone. So he developed an app ——Moment —— to monitor his usage. (匹兹堡的开发者Kevin Holesh担心自己为了iPhone而忽视了家人和朋友。因此,他开发了一款名为Moment的app来监控自己的使用情况)”可知,Kevin Holesh开发了Moment来帮助人们控制手机的使用。故选B。 【10题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段中的“The effects of this ‘always on’ culture are that your mind is never resting, and you’re not giving your body time to recover, so you’re always stressed. And the more tired and stressed we get, the more mistakes we make. Physical and mental health can suffer. (这种“永远在线”的文化的影响是,你的大脑从来没有休息过,你没有给你的身体时间来恢复,所以你总是有压力。我们越累越有压力,就会犯越多的错误。身体和心理健康都会受到影响)”可知,克里斯汀·格兰特博士对“永远在线”文化抱有批判的态度。故选D。 【11题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段中的“It actually makes it more difficult to make decisions and many do less because they’re controlled by it all and feel they can never escape the office (这实际上让做决定变得更加困难,许多人做得更少,因为他们被一切所控制,觉得他们永远无法逃离办公室)”可知,更多的数据意味着我们将变得更低效。故选A。 D Elements of Latin have made their way into many western countries. Data varies, but as much as 70% of words in English have a Latin or Greek root. By learning more about these roots and how they combine (结合) to create words, you will have an advantage in understanding new words, even if you’ve never seen them before. The great thing is that you’re not learning the whole language with its grammar. You just need to memorize some parts of the vocabulary that you often see in English. So how do word roots work? Every word has a root. This part contains the key to a word’s meaning. Take the word “happy”, for example. This word only contains the root, which means full of joy. Some words, however, have extra parts. We call these affixes (词缀), including prefixes, the part attached before the root, and suffixes, the part attached behind the root. Based on the additional meaning of the prefixes and suffixes, the meaning of the final word will be shaped to mean something new. Take the word “autobiography” for example. The root is “bio”, meaning life. You may have noticed that many words with “bio” have something to do with life or living beings—biology, biography, and so on. When the suffixes “graph”, meaning to write, is added to it, it means a story about someone’s or something’s life. “Auto” means by oneself. Altogether, an “autobiography” is a story about a person’s life, written by the person himself or herself. In a word, a better grasp of word roots can make you understand the English language better, and will help you with your vocabulary recognition and memory skills. 12. What’s needed to understand new words with roots? A. A good understanding of Latin or Greek. B. A full understanding of grammar. C. The ability to recognize different parts of words. D. The ability to speak various Western languages. 13. What do we know about the roots? A. It can’t form a word by itself. B. It is a necessary part of a word. C. It is more important than affixes. D. It has a relatively simple meaning. 14. What is the meaning of “biochemistry”? A. The science that is related to living things. B. A person who does research about chemistry. C. A person who does research about living things. D. The study of chemical reactions occurring in living things. 15. Which of the following is a suitable title for the text? A. Secret of understanding new words. B. Latin’s way into Western language. C. Amazing power of affixes. D. Tips on language exams. 【答案】12. C 13. B 14. D 15. A 【解析】 【导语】这是一篇说明文。主要讲述了英语中的词根在英语学习方面的重要作用。通过学习更多关于这些词根以及它们如何结合从而创造单词,你在理解新词方面会有优势,即使你以前从未见过它们。 【12题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段“You just need to memorize some parts of the vocabulary that you often see in English.(你只需要记住一些你在英语中经常看到的词汇的一些部分)”可知,用词根理解生词需要拥有识别单词不同部分的能力,故选C。 【13题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“Every word has a root.(每个词都有词根)”可知,词根是构成一个单词必不可少的一部分,故选B。 【14题详解】 词义猜测题。根据第四段“You may have noticed that many words with “bio” have something to do with life or living beings(你可能已经注意到,许多带有“生物”的词与生命或生物有关)”以及“chemistry (化学)”可知,“biochemistry”的意思应当同时含有生物和化学的意思,故选D。 【15题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第一段“By learning more about these roots and how they combine to create words, you will have an advantage in understanding new words, even if you’ve never seen them before.(通过更多地了解这些词根以及它们如何组合来创造单词,你将在理解新词方面拥有优势,即使你以前从未见过它们)”结合下文内容可知,全文主要讲述词根在学习英文单词方面的优势,A选项“理解新单词的秘诀”最符合文章标题。故选A。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,共12.5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的七个选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。选项中有两项为多余选项。 What Is The Best Sleep Position For Your Health? It’s difficult to control what sleeping position we naturally fall into, as our body will subconsciously fall into the most comfortable position for us. However, some positions are better for you than others and some could hold back your health and wellbeing. ___16___ If you sleep on your side More than 60 percent of people sleep on their side. Often our body naturally moves to this position, which is linked to when we were in the womb in the foetal (胎儿的) position. ___17___ It offers a number of benefits to your body, from promoting healthy spine alignment (脊椎对齐) which can help to prevent back pain to reducing heartburn and snoring (打鼾). If you sleep on your back Lying on your back is the second most popular sleeping position and offers just as many benefits as side sleeping. When you’re sleeping on your back, it’s easy to keep alignment and to also evenly distribute your weight. ___18___ If you sleep on your stomach Sleeping on your stomach is the least common sleeping position. ___19___ And those who sleep on their stomach could put themselves at risk of a less restful night’s sleep. The stomach offers the least amount of back support and can increase pressure on the spine which may cause pain once you wake up. ___20___ You should consider various factors such as if you snore or suffer sleep problems, or if you often have back and neck pain. Side sleeping has been noted as the best position for the body, so this is probably one to try and get into the habit of trying, but again, it all depends on you. A. Sleeping on your side is probably the best position. B. This also helps to prevent any neck and back pain. C. Side sleeping would be particularly beneficial for older people. D. There are more negatives to this position compared to positives. E. Determining the sleeping position for you is personal preference. F. This is most likely because it is one of the most comfortable sleeping positions. G. Here, this article reveals exactly how your sleep position is affecting your health. 【答案】16. G 17. A 18. B 19. D 20. E 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。主要介绍了不同的睡眠姿势对健康的影响,以及如何选择适合自己的睡眠姿势。 【16题详解】 根据上文“However, some positions are better for you than others and some could hold back your health and wellbeing. (然而,有些姿势对你来说比其他姿势更好,有些则可能阻碍你的健康和幸福。)”以及下文分别介绍侧睡、仰卧睡和俯卧睡三种姿势的内容可知,上文提到不同睡眠姿势对健康影响不同,下文将具体阐述,G选项“Here, this article reveals exactly how your sleep position is affecting your health. (在这里,这篇文章确切地揭示了你的睡眠姿势是如何影响你的健康的。)”起到承上启下的作用,引出下文对不同睡眠姿势影响的介绍。故选G项。 【17题详解】 根据上文“More than 60 percent of people sleep on their side. Often our body naturally moves to this position, which is linked to when we were in the womb in the foetal position. (超过60%的人侧睡。通常我们的身体会自然地调整到这个姿势,这与我们在子宫里时的胎儿姿势有关。)”以及下文“It offers a number of benefits to your body, from promoting healthy spine alignment (脊椎对齐) which can help to prevent back pain to reducing heartburn and snoring. (它对你的身体有诸多益处,从促进健康的并有助于预防背痛的脊椎对齐到减少烧心和打鼾。)”可知,此处应是对侧睡这一姿势的评价,A选项“Sleeping on your side is probably the best position. (侧睡可能是最好的姿势。)”,承接上文人们喜欢侧睡的原因说明了侧睡是最好的睡姿,同时又引出下文说明了其具体好处。故选A项。 【18题详解】 根据上文“When you’re sleeping on your back, it’s easy to keep alignment and to also evenly distribute your weight. (当你仰卧睡觉时,很容易保持身体对齐,也能均匀分布体重。)”可知,此处应是说明仰卧睡的好处,B选项“This also helps to prevent any neck and back pain. (这也有助于防止任何颈部和背部疼痛。)”中的“this”指代上文仰卧睡的优势,且补充了另一好处,逻辑连贯。故选B项。 【19题详解】 根据上文“Sleeping on your stomach is the least common sleeping position. (俯卧睡是最不常见的睡眠姿势。)”以及下文“And those who sleep on their stomach could put themselves at risk of a less restful night’s sleep. (而且那些俯卧睡的人可能会让自己面临睡眠质量不佳的风险。)”可知,此处应是说俯卧睡的缺点,D选项“There are more negatives to this position compared to positives. (这个姿势的缺点比优点多。)”,呼应上文指出俯卧的缺点,且下文的风险进一步说明了这一点。故选D项。 【20题详解】 根据下文“You should consider various factors such as if you snore or suffer sleep problems, or if you often have back and neck pain. Side sleeping has been noted as the best position for the body, so this is probably one to try and get into the habit of trying, but again, it all depends on you. (你应该考虑各种因素,比如你是否打鼾或有睡眠问题,或者你是否经常背痛和脖子痛。侧卧被认为是对身体最好的姿势,所以这可能是一种值得尝试并养成习惯的姿势,但同样,这一切都取决于你。)”可知,此处强调选择睡眠姿势是个人的事,E选项“Determining the sleeping position for you is personal preference. (确定适合你的睡眠姿势是个人偏好。)”,说明选择睡姿是个人偏好,引出下文选择睡姿要考虑个人情况的陈述。故选E项。 第二部分:语言运用(共两节,满分50分) 第一节 完形填空(共20小题;每小题1.5分,满分30分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 Our university is located in the far area. B It was an ordinary day when I got a message from my daughter’s kindergarten about an upcoming school dance performance. 4. A Dance Performance: Getting out of Fear through Dance C You get anxious if there’s no wi-fi in the hotel or mobile phone signal up the mountain. A. we will become less productive B. we can make a decision more quickly C. we will be equipped with more knowledge D. we can work more effectively D Elements of Latin have made their way into many western countries. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,共12.5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的七个选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。选项中有两项为多余选项。 What Is The Best Sleep Position For Your Health?
