“Xie Hu is the right man for the job,” Qi replied without thinking. Surprised, the king asked, “I know he is not friendly with you. Why do you let him take such an important job?”
Smiling, Qi Huangyang said, “You didn’t ask me my personal opinions of Xie Hu. You simply asked me who I thought would be fit for the position. Therefore, I thought Xie Hu is fit for it.”
The king followed Qi’s advice and made Xie Hu the officer of Nanyang county. And sure enough, Xie Hu managed the county very well and local people all thought highly of him.
Some days later, the king asked Qi Huangyang again. This time, the king was trying to find a judge (法官). Qi Huangyang recommended (推荐) Qi Wu for the job. ①You may have already seen them in some restaurants around the world: robots. They are about the size of a child. They can welcome people and lead them to their tables. They can give food and drinks to the guests, and bring dirty dishes back to the kitchen. Some have cat-like faces and even make noises when you touched their heads. But are robot waiters the future?
②Many people think robot waiters are the answer to worker shortage. In some places, there are not enough workers. And robots can be used instead of humans, so sales of robots have been growing in recent years. There are tens of hundreds of them now moving through eating places all over the world.
③In Madison Heights, Michigan, Li Zhai was having trouble finding workers for his restaurant Noodle Topia in the summer of 2021. So, he bought a robot from Pudu Robotics. The robot was so successful that he bought two more. Now, one robot leads guests to their seats while another brings some food to tables. Zhai said he now needs three people to do the same work that five or six people used to do. And they save him money. “I spend around $15,000 on a robot, but $5,000 to $6,000 per month on a person,” he said.
④But others say robot waiters still have a long way to go before they can replace (取代) humans. They cannot take orders. And they cannot walk up steps to different areas or floors of a restaurant. Restaurants are pretty noisy places, so it’s very hard to use technology in a useful and productive way, said Craig Le Clair from the advising company Forrester.
⑤Still, the use of robot waiters is growing. California-based Bear Robotics introduced its Servi robot in 2021. The company expects to have 10,000 produced by the end of this year in 44 U.S. states and overseas. In China, Shenzen-based Pudu Robotics, which was set up in 2016, has made more than 56,000 robots. With the development in AI, it won’t be long before they become part of our everyday lives.
62.The writer uses the example of Li Zhai to explain ________.
A.it’s expensive to buy a robot waiter
B.robot waiters help solve worker shortage
C.robot waiters are more useful than workers
D.finding workers in Michigan is not difficult
63.What can we learn from the passage?
A.It’s impossible for robots to replace human waiters.
B.Robot waiters can do all kinds of work in restaurants.
C.There have already been robots working in restaurants.
D.It is too expensive to use robot waiters in restaurants now.
64.What’s the writer’s attitude (态度) towards the future of robot waiters?
A.Shocked. B.Hopeful. C.Unsure. D.Worried.
65.Which of the following best shows the structure of the passage?
A. B. C. D.

21.Tom got up early this morning ________ catch the early bus.
A.next to B.so that C.in order to D.as for
【答案】C
【知识点】动词不定式作目的状语、so that、next to、in order (not) to do sth.、as for
考查in order to用法。next to旁边,介词短语;so that为了,后接句子;in order to为了,后接动词原形;as for关于,介词短语。

【知识点】other/another/the other/others/the others、another、代词辨析
the other one (另一个);another one(另一个);another pair(另一双);the others(其他)。根据“My sports shoes are too small.”

provide sth for sb=provide sb with sth为某人提供某物;offer sb sth=offer sth to sb为某人提供某物;protect保护。根据“food and cover … wildlife.”

That’s not the case情况不是这样的;I’m afraid so我恐怕如此;With pleasure非常愿意;I can’t agree more我再同意不过了。根据“I think many teenagers nowadays care more about themselves”及“Many volunteers of this age always take part in voluntary activities.”

get hurt“受伤”,固定用法,排除B;根据“now”可知此处用现在进行时,主语he和谓语take good care of之间是被动关系,故用现在进行时的被动语态am/is/are being taken good care of。故选C。
26.I ________ here ________ the end of the month.
A.stayed, until B.will stay, until C.will leave, until D.left, until
【答案】B
【知识点】延续性动词与非延续性动词、will/shall do结构、stay、leave(left left)
stay“停留”是延续性动词,leave“离开”是短暂性动词,排除C、D,根据“the end of the month”可知,时态用一般将来时。

28.When you find ________ in a dangerous situation, right decisions will make ________ possible for you to get out of danger.
A.you; it B.you; it’s C.yourself; it D.yourself; it’s

IT、it's、you、yourself、反身代词、it作形式宾语
you你;yourself你自己;it它,可作形式宾语或形式主语;it’s它是。根据“When you find...in a dangerous situation”可知,此处表示当你发现你自己处于危险的境地时,“你自己”应用反身代词yourself,故排除选项A和B。根据“right decisions will make...possible for you to get out of danger”可知,make it possible for sb to do sth.“使某人有可能做某事”,此时it为形式宾语,动词不定式短语为句子真正的宾语。故选C。
29.It is said that a strange disease ________ South Sudan. Until now the disease ________ the death of at least 89 people.
A.is causing an effect on; has caused
B.is having an impact on; has resulted from

cause an effect on对……产生影响;have an impact on对于…… 的损害;cause damage to对……造成破坏;result from起因于;lead to导致;result in结果是,导致。根据“Until now the disease … the death of at least 89 people”可知,强调这个疾病导致的结果,从第二空排除A和B选项;又结合“a strange disease … South Sudan”可知,第一空说明的是疾病正在造成一定的损害,故选D。
30.Can you predict ________ if the story in The Three Body Problem( 《三体》)comes true?
A.what is our world like B.what our world will be like
C.how will our world be D.how our world is

“Xie Hu is the right man for the job,” Qi replied without thinking. Surprised, the king asked, “I know he is not friendly with you. Why do you let him take such an important job?”
Smiling, Qi Huangyang said, “You didn’t ask me my personal opinions of Xie Hu. You simply asked me who I thought would be fit for the position. Therefore, I thought Xie Hu is fit for it.”
The king followed Qi’s advice and made Xie Hu the officer of Nanyang county. And sure enough, Xie Hu managed the county very well and local people all thought highly of him.

The man agreed. When he was in bed at night, the sound of croaking (呱呱叫) of frogs fell in his ears. He couldn’t sleep at all. The next morning, he went to the master and said, “There are hundreds of frogs in your pool. Will you allow me to take them to a far river?” The master nodded.
The Book That Changed Me
On the journey of growth, there is always someone or something quietly changing us. I used to be a shy girl who feared speaking in public. Everything changed after reading The Confidence Code. The book explained how courage grows through small actions. Inspired, I volunteered to host our class meeting. Though nervous at first, I received warm applause. That experience made me realize that bravery isn’t the absence of fear, but action despite it.
Now I actively join debates and share ideas. The book not only boosted my confidence but also taught me to embrace challenges. It reminds me that growth begins at the edge of comfort zones. I’ll carry this lesson through life, always daring to try.

The next morning, he went to the master and said, “There are hundreds of frogs in your pool. Will you allow me to take them to a far river?” The master nodded. Then the man went to the pool with a net. But he found there weren’t many frogs in the pool. “Where are the hundreds of frogs?” the man asked.
“Even at night, there were only some frogs. It was the noise that made you think their number was large. When you heard some people speaking ill of you, you thought everyone did so. In fact, they were just like the frogs in the pool. No matter how good you are, there will always be someone speaking ill of you. You shouldn’t mind it.”
