In 2026, a humanoid robot named “Flash” won a half marathon in Beijing. It finished the race in 50 minutes and 26 seconds, breaking the human record of 57 minutes and 20 seconds. Flash was created by Honor, a Chinese smartphone company.
Flash is 1.69 meters tall and has 0.95-meter-long legs. The design was inspired (启发) by top human athletes. This helps the robot move better.
Running can make robots overheat. To keep cool, the team built a liquid cooling system It uses thin channels (管道) inside the robot’s motor to move some cooling liquid each minute. This keeps Flash’s temperature at 31.5° C.
Honor used its smartphone technologies, like energy-saving methods and battery technology, to make Flash both light and strong. When running, Flash is more powerful than a family car.
Flash finished the race on its own. With the Beidou Navigation Satellite System, many sensors and real-time decision-making algorithms (算法), it could feel the environment, plan its path and control its movements without human help.
The humanoid robot half marathon is not just a race but a display of future technology. The skills that help robots run, such as sensing the environment, keeping balance, and making quick decisions, can also be used in real-life situations. These robots can be used to save people after disasters, take care of the elderly and provide better services for people in need.

Thinking outside the box.
The phrase “thinking outside the box” means thinking freely and creatively, without any limits. Creativity is an important skill in all parts of life, and it’s especially useful in group projects. Luckily, like any other skill, it can be developed through practice. ____36____
Do some brainstorming.
One good way to be creative is to think of as many ideas as possible. It doesn’t matter if the ideas are good or bad. ____37____ When we think of new ideas in a group, every new idea may help us come up with more ideas. However, if we keep saying “That will never work!” when someone has an idea, the discussion will never move forward.
Connect unrelated (不相关的) things.
Pick two unrelated objects. For example, take an umbrella and a clock. Then ask: how could they work together? ____38____ This also trains your brain to break fixed patterns (模式). Many creative inventions come from such unexpected connections.
____39____ If you have no idea, doing something else for a while can help. For example, going for a walk may help you clear your mind and look at things in a new way. Some people have great ideas when they’re doing the dishes or taking a shower.
Work on one thing at a time.
It is hard to be creative if you try to do everything at once. For example, if you set a big and unclear goal like “write a great story”, you will get stressed. ____40____ For example, I will “choose key points for my story” first. Specific goals make it easier for you to think creatively and help you reach your goal, one step at a time.
A. Take a break and get a new idea.
B. Wait for ideas to come naturally.
C. Let’s look at some ways to do it!
D. Instead, it’s better to start with a small goal.
E. Even bad ideas can help us think differently.
F. This “forced connection” often brings fresh ideas.
Mental Health Day: Love Yourself
May 25th is China’s Mental Health Day, also known as “525 Day ”. The date is very special because “5-2-5 ” sounds almost the same as the Chinese phrase “Wo Ai Wo ”, which means “I love myself ”.
It started in 2000 as a university activity and has now become a popular national day. The main theme of this day is to teach us to love our lives, accept ourselves, and care about our mental health. As time goes by, the meaning of this day has grown. It not only reminds us to love ourselves but also encourages us to care for others and our society. After all, only when we love ourselves can we have the power to love others and make the world a better place.
To celebrate this meaningful day, there are many warm, fun and easy activities we can do in our daily lives. First, we can share our feelings by chatting with friends about our recent lives. To find support and understanding from others, we can also join a reading party or a small group meeting. Second, creative handcrafts (手工制作) are great ways to express and let out our feelings. We can try coloring in “Secret Garden” books, making a “mood bookmark” with nice pictures, or writing short three-line poems to show our love. Third, outdoor activities like fun sports games, gardening, or walking in nature parks can help us relax our bodies and enjoy the beauty of life. At last, we can take part in knowledge activities, such as listening to health talks or watching short videos online. These activities help us learn how to manage our feelings and deal with stress properly.
In a word, 525 Day tells us that loving yourself is the first step to building a healthier and more loving world for everyone. Let’s start from today and lead a brighter life!

根据时间“At 4:30 a.m.”
根据“feel...for him”及后文“victim”可知人们同情他,“feel sorry for”为固定搭配。

either(两者之中)任意一个;neither(两者中)无一个,none没有一个,均不符合逻辑。

Lucy ran out of the empty room into the hall and found the other three. “It’s all right,” she repeated, “I’ve come back.”
“Poor old Lucy, where have you been hiding?” said Peter.
“I’ve been away for hours since I went into the wardrobe(衣橱).” Lucy replied.
“Don’t be silly, Lucy,” said Susan. “We just came out of that room a moment ago, and you were not there then.”
“She’s not being silly at all,” said Peter, “She’s just fabricating a story for fun.” “No, Peter. My story is real,” she said. “It’s a magic wardrobe. There’s a forest inside it, and it’s snowing, and it’s called Narnia. Come and see.”
The others did not know what to think, but all went back with Lucy into the room because of her excitement. She opened the door of wardrobe and cried, “Now please see for yourselves.”
“It’s just a common wardrobe. Look! There’s the back of it.”said Susan.
Then everyone looked in and pulled the coats apart, and what they all saw was a perfectly common wardrobe. There was no forest and no snow, only the back of the wardrobe with hooks on it.
“A good lie, Lucy.” Peter said, “You have fooled us. We believed you.” Lucy grew very red in the face and tried to say something, though she hardly knew what she was trying to say. The others who thought she was lying made her very unhappy. And so things went on until the next wet day.
They decided to play hide-and-seek because there was still no sign of a break in the weather. Susan was “It” and as soon as the others ran away to hide, she began to look for them. Just then, Lucy went to the room again where the wardrobe was. She believed that she was right…

The most special person in my school
Looking back at my school life, there are many special people, places and moments, but the most special one is my English teacher, Ms. Zhang.
I still remember one rainy afternoon in Grade 8. I failed an important English exam and felt very sad. Ms. Zhang saw me sitting alone in the classroom. Instead of scolding me, she sat down and said, “Don’t give up. Every mistake is a step forward.” Then she spent an hour helping me understand my weak points. From that day on, she often stayed after school to tutor me. Thanks to her, my English improved a lot and I became more confident.
This experience taught me that a good teacher is not just someone who teaches knowledge, but someone who lights up your heart. I will always be grateful for her kindness and patience.
