书面表达(共40分)
66.
Dear Mike,
I am writing to share my experiences as an environmental volunteer. We started the day by cleaning up the local park, collecting trash and recyclables. It was surprising how much litter we found, even in such a small area. Working together with my classmates, I felt a strong sense of community and purpose.
Through this experience, I learned that protecting the environment is not a grand thing, but can be done through the little things we do every day. Simple actions like reducing waste, recycling, and conserving water can make a big difference.
Looking forward to your reply!
Yours,
Li Hua
67. The following week, Lily began to learn from Coco. She stopped begging her parents for expensive items and instead used her pocket money to buy a few second-hand books, which she shared with classmates who couldn’t afford new ones. When she saw someone struggling with homework, she would sit down patiently and help, just like Coco did. During lunch breaks, instead of talking about brand-new sneakers or phones, she joined Coco in the library, organizing books and helping younger students find what they needed. At first, she felt a little shy, but seeing the smiles on others’ faces warmed her heart.
Months later, teachers and classmates all praised Lily. Her grades had jumped from average to top 10, and she organized a weekly study group that helped half the class improve. At the school’s volunteer day, she led a team to clean the community park, laughing as she picked up litter with classmates. “Lily’s heart is as bright as her smile now,” her math teacher said in class. Her parents, seeing her donate old clothes to charity, hugged her tightly. Lily finally understood: true value lies not in what you have, but in what you give.

When I was a kid, my two brothers and I would stay with Grandparents for a week during summer vacation. We always looked forward to spending every moment with them, especially Grandpa, the “hero” in our eyes.
Grandpa became blind when he was 20 years old, but it never slowed down the strong-willed (坚强的) man. He worked in a shop every day. Customers would give him money, and he would return the right change and give them exactly what they wanted. He had many friends who visited the shop just to talk to him, and at that time, I helped to hand customers their drinks and snacks. This made me feel grown-up.
He also cooked lunch and washed dishes while Grandma worked. As a boy, I would watch him move around the house from room to room as if he could see. I was so surprised about how he moved from cooking to washing the dishes, never making a mistake.
It seemed like every time I stayed with him, we would visit someone in the evening who was weak or very sick. Although he can’t see things, he never let it stop him from working and being kind to others. His love for people never ended.
During those weeks, he taught me many lessons that I still treasure today. They take me back to those days and remind me how special he was. I miss every moment I stayed with him. To this day, I still dislike hearing someone say, “I can’t do that,” because I knew a blind man who never said those words.
24. Which of the following best describes Grandpa? ( )
A. Active but shy.
B. B. Strong-willed and caring
C. C. Kind but strict.
D. D. Warm-hearted and humorous.
25. What does the underlined phrase “those days” in the last paragraph refer to? ( )
A. The time with Grandpa.
B. B. The time with the friends.
C. The time with the brothers.
D. D. The time with the neighbors.
26. What lesson does the writer learn from Grandpa? ( )
A. Family is important.
B. We should work hard.
C. Anything is possible.
D. We should help the blind.
27. Where is the text probably taken from? ( )
A. A storybook. B. A film review. C. A guidebook. D. A science magazine.

We may think we’re a culture that gets rid of our worn technology at the first sight of something shiny and new, but a new study shows that we keep using our old devices (装置) well after they go out of style. That’s bad news for the environment — and our wallets — as these outdated devices consume much more energy than the newer ones that do the same things.
To figure out how much power these devices are using, Callie Babbitt and her colleagues at the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York tracked the environmental costs for each product throughout its life — from when its minerals are mined to when we stop using the device. This method provided a readout for how home energy use has evolved since the early 1990s. Devices were grouped by generation — Desktop computers, basic mobile phones, and box-set TVs defined 1992. Digital cameras arrived on the scene in 1997. And MP3 players, smart phones, and LCD TVs entered homes in 2002, before tablets and e-readers showed up in 2007.
As we accumulated more devices, however, we didn’t throw out our old ones. “The living-room television is replaced and gets planted in the kids’ room, and suddenly one day, you have a TV in every room of the house,” said one researcher. The average number of electronic devices rose from four per household in 1992 to 13 in 2007. We’re not just keeping these old devices — we continue to use them. According to the analysis of Babbitt’s team, old desktop monitors and box TVs with cathode ray tubes are the worst devices with their energy consumption and contribution to greenhouse gas emissions (排放) more than doubling during the 1992 to 2007 window.
So what’s the solution (解决方案)? The team’s data only went up to 2007, but the researchers also explored what would happen if consumers replaced old products with new electronics that serve more than one function, such as a tablet for word processing and TV viewing. They found that more on-demand entertainment viewing on tablets instead of TVs and desktop computers could cut energy consumption by 44%.
28. What does the author think of new devices? ( )
A. They are environment-friendly.
B. They are no better than the old.
C. They cost more to use at home.
D. They go out of style quickly.
29. Why did Babbitt’s team conduct the research? ( )
A. To reduce the cost of minerals.
B. To test the life cycle of a product.
C. To update consumers on new technology.
D. To find out electricity consumption of the devices.
30. Which of the following uses the least energy? ( )
A. The box-set TV. B. The tablet. C. The LCD TV. D. The desktop computer.
31. What does the text suggest people do about old electronic devices? ( )
A. Stop using them. B. Take them apart. C. Upgrade them. D. Recycle them.
D
When the tennis player Sam Bencheghib recognized that the ocean in his home country, Indonesia, was polluted, in 2009 he and his older brother, Gary, co-founded Make a Change World, an organization supporting sustainable development as well as helping to cut plastic pollution. The enterprise shares short videos encouraging eco-friendly actions.
Bencheghib had worked on several projects with his brother overseas. But he wanted to do something in the United States on his own. In January, Bencheghib came up with the idea of running from Los Angeles to New York, to make people pay attention to plastic pollution and its influence on the ocean. Starting on June 8, Bencheghib has kept running 20 miles a day for 140days. Along the way, he hosted education speeches at schools, universities and town halls as well as organized street and city clean-up campaigns to influence people.
Bencheghib said he understood the difficulty of his task but recognized that taking risks often has advantages.
“We were all really excited but couldn’t believe it,” his teammate Christopher Auteri said. “How crazy it is! But we know that if there’s anyone who’s going to do it, it’s going to be Sam.”
Since Bencheghib broke the news to the team, there have been no plastic water bottles in the locker room, and teammates joined Bencheghib for training runs. The coach Wouter Hendrix said Bencheghib’s work showed his persistence (坚持) and courage, which he believed would serve as invaluable qualities for completing his run, but it could mean a lot to him or her.
32. What encouraged Sam to set up his organization? ( )
A. A conversation with his brother. B. The sea pollution in Indonesia.
C. The videos he watched. D. A match he played.
33. What decision did Sam make to protect the ocean? ( )
A. Meeting local leaders.
B. Running across America.
C. Creating something to replace plastics.
D. Inviting people to give speeches in schools.
34. What did Sam’s teammates do after they heard his decision? ( )
A. They gave him some money.
B. They joined his organization.
C. They refused to play tennis with him.
D. They showed their support with their actions.
35. Which of the following words can best describe Sam Bencheghib? ( )
A. Impatient and outgoing. B. Friendly and honest.
C. Strong-minded and helpful. D. Careful and hard-working.

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的文章。
Lily was a high school student who loved comparing herself with others. She always cared about the latest clothes, expensive phones, and designer bags. Whenever someone showed off a new item, she would feel jealous (嫉妒的) and want to buy something better. Her parents often told her, “True value isn’t in what you own,” but she never listened.
One day, Lily noticed a girl from another class, whose name was Coco. Coco’s family was wealthy, but she always wore simple clothes and carried an old schoolbag. Unlike Lily, Coco never joined in the students’ discussions about brands or prices. Instead, she spent her time helping classmates with math problems or volunteering in the school library. Her grades were always at the top of the class, and everyone respected (尊重) her.
Lily couldn’t understand why Coco didn’t care about material things. One afternoon, Lily saw Coco sitting alone under a tree, reading a book. She decided to talk to her. “Why don’t you buy nicer things?” Lily asked. “Your family has enough money.” Coco looked up with a smile. “I’d rather spend money on things that matter,” she said. “Like helping others or buying books.”
That night, Lily thought about Coco’s words. She realized that she had been looking for things that didn’t bring real happiness. The next day, she made a decision: she would stop comparing herself with others and start focusing on what truly mattered.
