The guide dog is very useful to a blind person, but it is not easy for a dog to become a guide dog. A guide dog must be smart and healthy and have a good disposition(性格). And it must be responsible(有责任心的).
It usually takes several months to two years to train(训练) a little dog into a guide dog. When a guide dog is about fourteen months old, it begins to receive intensive(加强的) lessons. And the lessons usually last three to five months. A guide dog has to learn to watch the traffic conditions and help its owner cross the street safely.
