Passage 1

阅读下面的语篇,根据语篇内容回答问题。
My friend Lucy treasures a blue diary more than anything else she owns. At first sight, it doesn’t seem amazing. The cover has faded (褪色) a bit, and the corners are slightly bent, but this worn-out look tells the story of its long-lasting importance in Lucy’s life.
Lucy’s mom gave her the diary on her 12th birthday. With a big smile, her mom said, “Write down all your feelings here. Someday, you’ll look back and be happy you did.”
Since then, the diary has been Lucy’s silent listener. She writes about everything in it. When she won the first place in a school singing competition, she filled pages with her excitement. She also poured out her sadness when she had an argument with her best friend. And on the days when she felt inspired, the diary became a canvas (画布) for her creativity, with colorful drawings of flowers, butterflies, and little houses scattered among the words.
One day, something terrible happened. Lucy couldn’t find her diary anywhere. She searched her room and her schoolbag, but it wasn’t there. Also, she retraced (原路返回) her steps from school. For two whole days, she felt lost without it. Then, to her great relief, a kind-hearted classmate found it in the school library and returned it. From that moment on, she started keeping the diary in a special drawer, always making sure it was safe.
This diary is not just a book full of words and drawings. It’s a part of Lucy’s life. It holds her joys, sorrows, and all the little moments that make up her growing-up years. For Lucy, there’s no other thing in the world that can mean as much as this old blue diary.

第一节 阅读下面的语篇,根据语篇内容回答问题。
The digital age (数字化时代) has changed the way we live, learn and communicate. For students, this brings both chances and challenges. Understanding the influence (影响) and keeping learning is a key to success nowadays.
On the bright side, the Internet provides endless information for learning. Students can get online lessons and research materials (材料) with just a few clicks (点击). It also makes group work easier, allowing students to work on group programs or ask for help from friends and teachers anytime, anywhere.
However, there are also some problems. Spending too much time online can make it hard to focus (专心). Things like social media and video games can distract (使分心) students from their studies. Besides, too much screen time may be bad for physical health. Some misinformation (错误信息) is another risk which students need to be careful with.
To put the digital age to good use, students should develop healthy habits. First, control screen time and schoolwork always go first. Use apps or tools that stop distractions during study. Second, practice critical (批判) thinking. Always check information before accepting (接受) it as true. There is some misinformation online. Third, spend time exercising, reading books, or having face-to-face conversations.

Passage 3

阅读下面短文,根据短文内容回答问题。
As an old saying goes, a good book is like a good friend. If so, my best friend must be The Old Man and the Sea by American writer Ernest Hemingway.
In my eyes, Ernest Hemingway is probably one of the greatest writers in the 20th century. When he was 19, he volunteered to go to war (战争) because he wanted to take risks. However, he was badly hurt in the war and got back home. In Hemingway’s life, this experience was important. He wrote several books about the war to show how bad life was for the young men who had to fight.
Hemingway likes to write in very short sentences with simple words. This is because he wants his readers to feel the emotions (情感) of his stories clearly. The Old Man and the Sea is one of his famous books. I have read it twice. I learned a lot from this book, especially the spirit of the main character, Santiago.
The Old Man and the Sea is a story about an old fisherman named Santiago who fights with a big fish by himself in the sea. He experiences many ups and downs. He has no water, food or people to help him. But he never gives in to the big fish, dangerous animals, rough (汹涌的) sea or even his own illness.
Although the story is short and simple, it is still very powerful. It tells us that a man can be destroyed but not defeated. Santiago is such a strong and brave man that he fears no difficulties. That’s why I like the book most. Every time I read it, it cheers me up. I hope I can be like Santiago.

Passage 4
(24-25八下·湖南长沙雅礼教育集团·期末)
One day last month, I was talking to my writer friend Alex about writing. At the end of our conversation, I asked him, “As a writer, you must enjoy writing, right? ”
“Not always, ” he said. He thought for a moment and added, “I enjoy writing when it gives me a sense of pride. ”
“You know, ” Alex went on, “some articles are harder to write than others. Sometimes, I'm not sure if the readers will like my article. I try to write as well as I can. When I finally look at my work, I feel good about myself. ”
Alex’s answer made me think of a trip ten years ago. My friends and I were halfway up Mount Hua after a short bus ride. It was a rainy day, and the mountain is famous for its steepness (陡峭). As we looked up at its packs, some of us thought of giving up. “You’ll feel sorry about your decision,” our guide said as he encouraged us to keep going.
Soon, we arrived at “Yaozi Fanshen (鹞子翻身)”. It’s the most famous and challenging attraction on East Peak. We climbed up the almost vertical (垂直的) rock face by pulling at the iron chains. It tired us out. But we felt proud.
We finally climbed three peaks of Mount Hua that day. In some places, we even took the steeper way. We found that the more difficult the climb was, the more pride we got.
Some mountains now provide tourists with an easier way up-a ride on an escalator. But just as it is in writing, for some things in our lives, the harder way brings better rewards.

First and foremost, I have visited amazing places of interest. The Gulangyu Island is like a fairy-tale world, with no cars but lovely tricycles. The Sunlight Rock on the island offers a breathtaking view of the whole Xiamen. Standing there, I felt as if I could touch the blue sky.
What’s more, the food I have also tried is so mouth-watering. The delicious seafood, such as steamed crabs and fresh fish balls, made my taste buds dance with joy.
Through this trip, I have learned about Xiamen’s special history and culture. The blend of Chinese and Western architectures shows its unique past. Xiamen is not just a city; it’s a lesson that no book could fully teach. It has left a deep mark on my heart, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit.

(24-25·八下·湖南省长沙市长郡雨花外国语学校·期末)

Reading is one of the most valuable activities you can do. It offers many benefits (好处) that go beyond just fun.
First, reading improves your vocabulary and language skills. When you read books, articles, or stories, you will meet new words and phrases. Over time, this helps you express yourself better in writing and speaking. For example, if you read science fiction novels, you might learn technical terms.
Second, reading enhances (增强) your imagination. Unlike watching TV or movies, reading requires you to visualize scenes, characters, and settings in your mind. This ability to imagine helps develop creativity, which is useful in many areas of life, such as art, problem-solving, and even daily decision-making.

阅读下面的语篇,根据语篇内容回答问题。
A Director’s Dream: How “Ne Zha” Was Born
Yang Yu, also named “Jiaozi”, created China’s popular animated film Ne Zha. But his road to success wasn’t easy.
Jiaozi studied medicine in college but loved animation (动画). After graduation, he spent 3.5 years working alone in his small room to make a short film. Though he had little money, he never gave up.
When creating Ne Zha, Jiaozi worked for 16 hours a day over 5 years. His team faced many problems, especially with Ne Zha’s special look—dark eyes and a naughty smile. “We have changed Ne Zha’s design over 100 times,” Jiaozi said.
Since he wanted to tell Chinese stories in his own way, he kept working hard on Ne Zha. The movie’s message, “I am the master of my fate”, also showed his life belief.

Xi’an is an ancient capital (首都) with a long history, together with Beijing. Nanjing and Luoyang, known as the ancient capitals of China. As one of the oldest cities in China, it has a history of more than 3,000 years. In ancient times, it was called Chang’an. And there are many interesting places to visit in Xi’an.
The Terracotta Army is world-famous. When you see those clay soldiers, you will be amazed. They are so lifelike that they can remind you of the stories in the past. The City Wall of Xi’an is also wonderful. You can ride a bike on it and enjoy the view of the city. It makes you feel like you are in ancient times. In the center of Xi’an, there is the Bell Tower—one of the largest bell towers in China. The bell was first designed as an emergency alarm (警钟) to warn people of danger, but it was very often used to tell people the time.
The food in Xi’an is really delicious. Roujiamo is very popular. It tastes great with the juicy meat inside. And Biangbiang noodles are my favorite. They are thick and long, and the taste is special and so good.

The digital age is here to stay, and it’s up to us to use it wisely. To use it well, students should stay focused, learn helpful things, and not use it too much. This way, technology can help us without causing problems.

Passage 3
(24-25·八下·湖南省长沙市望城区·期末)
1.How old was Hemingway when he volunteered to go to war?

2.Why does Hemingway like to write in very short sentences with simple words?

3.Which book has the writer read twice?

Then, things began to get better. With the government’s help, the villagers decided to try something new. They wanted to get out of poverty (贫穷). Gong Haihua, a graduate (毕业生) of TSH High School, returned to his hometown after finishing university and led the villagers to create a better life with their own hands.
