(A)
Greener Travel for Our Future
Moving things and people around the world makes much carbon (碳) gas. Now the world wants to cut down carbon gas. But transport brings big problems. This part makes up about one fourth of our greenhouse gases from using energy. Here are facts about the gas from different kinds of transport in 2018.
The fuels (燃料) for transport need to be green, cheap and powerful enough. They also need to be light and safe to be carried easily. Different transport kinds have special needs. Many problems still need solving, but here are some ways to go green.
PLANES—Fuels from Air
Making planes green is a big challenge. One possible way in the future is to make special clean fuels which are taken straight from the air.
CARS—Batteries
Batteries (电池) in electric cars store energy well. New solid-state batteries are even better, allowing the car to travel much farther on one charge (充电).
TRAINS—Electricity
Many trains already run on electricity from rails or wires. Other trains can also be made electric in quite simple ways.
TRUCKS—Hydrogen Fuel Cells
Hydrogen fuel cells (氢燃料电池) are lighter than batteries for trucks, but making green hydrogen is expensive.
SHIPS—Liquid Ammonia
Liquid ammonia (液氨) is easy to store and move. However, it is difficult to burn. To use it, ships would need new engines.
Engineer Keith Wipke says that the world’s energy change needs a lot of renewable (可再生的) energy. Now, people think the world’s need for electricity may double by 2050. Luckily, renewable energy can meet this need. But we have to make it develop faster.
1. What percentage of the world’s transport carbon gas was from road vehicles in 2018?
A. 11.6%. B. 45.1%. C. 74.5%. D. 86.1%.
2. Which kind of transport can go green quite easily?
A. Planes. B. Trains. C. Trucks. D. Ships.
3. What does Wipke say we should do about energy change?
A. Develop more green energy. B. Make electricity cheaper.
C. Use energy more wisely. D. Use less fuels if possible.
【答案】1. C 2. B 3. A

Many students think learning is boring and has nothing to do with their lives. As a teacher, I try my best to change that. I bring my personal hobbies into class to make learning livelier. I love cars very much, so I often use cars to explain science knowledge.
Once, I took different tires to my science class. We did simple and interesting experiments to learn how friction (摩擦力) works. This way made the lesson fun and easy to understand. This way of teaching is part of our school’s idea—“Learning by Doing and Thinking Together”. It helps students get knowledge from real-life situations.
At first, I only hoped my students would love science. But a nice change took place. When I shared my love for cars, students who also liked cars talked with me more actively. They became much more active in class. Even students who didn’t care about cars felt closer to me. They found I was not just a strict teacher, but a real person with my own interests. We built a much better teacher-student relationship, and our classroom turned into a place for us to think and learn together.
Now, sharing my hobbies has become part of my teaching. It helps me teach better and makes students curious about new things. They clearly see how school subjects connect with real life. Most importantly, my passion encourages them to find their own hobbies and interests. This special teaching method helps students get useful knowledge and improve their thinking skills at the same time.
4. What is one problem the writer mentions about students?
A. They don’t think learning is interesting. B. They don’t like all school subjects at all.
C. They have no personal hobbies or interests. D. They refuse knowledge from real-life situations.
5. Why did the writer bring different tires to the class?
A. To teach students to drive cars. B. To give a lesson on making tires.
C. To show how friction works in life. D. To help students clean the classroom.
6. What does the underlined word “passion” mean according to the English dictionary?
A. [U] a state of being very angry
B. [U] a very strong feeling of sexual love
C. [C] a very strong feeling of liking something
D. [C, U] a very strong feeling of love, hatred, anger, etc.
7. What is the main purpose of the text?
A. To ask students to love cars. B. To tell a story of a teacher’s life.
C. To explain what friction means. D. To show how hobbies help teaching.
【答案】4. A 5. C 6. C 7. D
【解析】

【7题详解】
全文围绕老师把个人爱好带入课堂,优化教学、拉近师生关系、帮助学生学习和发展,核心是展示爱好如何助力教学。
(C)
Today, most of us like to read reviews before we buy things online. People write these reviews to share their experiences. But we must be careful. A new study shows that it is hard for us to find fake reviews (虚假评论). Fake reviews are not written by real buyers. They try to trick people into making bad choices.
Researchers did a study to understand this problem better. They showed 1,600 different reviews for hotels to 400 people. Some of these reviews were real, and some were written to be fake. The study found three clear points. First, people often trust negative reviews more than positive ones. They believe a bad review is more honest. Second, a long negative review with many details (细节) seems very believable. But a long positive review can make people feel doubtful. Third, the feeling in the review is important. A review that sounds too exciting is less trusted than a calm one.
Now, the problem of fake reviews is growing. Today, it is easier to make them. Some people even use AI to write fake reviews. AI can make the text sound very natural, like a real person wrote it. This makes it much harder for us to know what is real. Companies are using computer programs to fight this, but it is a difficult job. Since we are not good at finding fakes ourselves, the problem is getting worse.
So, how can we be smart shoppers? We should not believe every review we read. It is a good idea to check the writer’s history. Have they written other reviews? Also, read both good and bad reviews. If a product has only perfect reviews, be careful. Learning about fake reviews and taking a little more time to think can help us make better choices.
In short, we all need to be careful about the reviews we read online. Fake information is everywhere. Remember, if a review seems too good to be true, it probably is. Use your own mind, and you will become a wiser shopper.
8. Which three types of reviews do people trust?
① Reviews that are very short. ② Reviews with many details.
③ Reviews that are negative. ④ Reviews with strong feelings.
⑤ Reviews that are calm.
A. ①②③ B. ②③⑤ C. ②③④ D. ③④⑤
9. What may happen to fake reviews later?
A. They may look more real. B. They will disappear soon.
C. They will be easy to find. D. No one will read them any longer.
10. Which is the best title for this text?
A. How AI Helps Customers B. Why People Like Shopping
C. The Problem of Fake Reviews D. How to Write Good Reviews
11. What is the structure of the text?
A. Challenge → Study Results → Examples → Advice → Purpose.
B. Story → Study Results → New Examples → Advice → Summary (总结).
C. Introduction → Study Results → Challenge → Advice → Summary.
D. Opinion → Three Reasons → Study Results → Advice → Purpose.

We often think robots are a modern invention. But in fact, the dream of making machines that act like living things is very old. In ancient China, clever people made many amazing devices (装置). These early machines showed great skill and creativity, starting a long and interesting history.
Our story began over 3,000 years ago during the Western Zhou Dynasty. Talented workers made a special wooden man out of wood and other materials. Old records say this early machine could walk and move. When people shook its head, it sang beautiful songs, and when they held its hand, it danced to music. It was probably the world’s first robot made for fun.
Several hundred years later, during the Spring and Autumn Period, a famous carpenter named Lu Ban had a wonderful idea. He watched birds flying in the sky. Then, he used his skill to make a wooden bird. It could keep flying for three full days without landing. People called it a “wooden kite”. Today, we see it as the earliest form of a kite.
Perhaps the most useful robots came during the Three Kingdoms Period. Zhuge Liang faced a big problem: how to carry army supplies (物资) across dangerous mountain roads. His solution was to invent “wooden oxen” and “gliding horses”. These special machines could carry very heavy things safely. Historical records suggest that even when enemies tried to take these devices, they often failed.
Were all these ancient machines real? Some were certainly true inventions that showed great engineering skills. Others might be partly stories. But true or not, they all show one important thing: for thousands of years, humans have dreamed of making machines that copy life. This same dream connects ancient inventors with scientists today, showing that the idea of robots is a long and creative part of human history.
The study of these early inventions helps us understand that technological progress doesn’t happen suddenly, but develops over time. The creativity of ancient Chinese inventors laid important groundwork for the amazing robots we have today.
12. How does the author mainly organize the information in the text?
A. By comparing ancient and modern robots.
B. By describing different inventions in time order.
C. By arguing about which invention was the most important.
D. By explaining the basic scientific ideas behind each invention.
13. What is the main purpose of the last two paragraphs?
A. To explain the exact ways of making an ancient robot device.
B. To offer a clear introduction to the technology of modern robots.
C. To point out the different problems that those ancient inventions have.
D. To make clear the key point about human creativity and historical connection.
14. What can we infer about ancient Chinese inventors from this text?
A. They were not as smart as modern scientists.
B. They only cared about making devices for fun.
C. They were careful watchers and problem solvers.
D. They didn’t want to share their inventions with others.
15. What is the most likely reason for writing this text?
A. To teach readers how to make ancient Chinese robots.
B. To show the ideas of robots have been around since ancient times.
C. To tell the differences between ancient and modern technology.
D. To make readers ready and willing to buy a modern smart robot.
【答案】12. B 13. D 14. C 15. B

【14题详解】
第三段“He watched birds flying in the sky. Then, he used his skill to make a wooden bird.”和第四段“Zhuge Liang faced a big problem: how to carry army supplies across dangerous mountain roads. His solution was to invent ‘wooden oxen’ and ‘gliding horses’.”

(A)
Greener Travel for Our Future
(B)
(D)
