Today we understand nutrition much better than people did long ago. Now we know about vitamins (维生素). We also know that each vitamin helps a certain part of our body grow. There are many kinds of vitamin pills (药片). We can take them to keep healthy. In fact, vegetables have a lot of vitamins. For example, tomatoes are rich in vitamin C. So we don’t have to take vitamin pills. We only take them when our doctor tells us to do that.
Generally speaking, everything we eat is good for our body, but if we eat too much of one kind of food and don’t give enough care to others, then we may be unhealthy.

Do you like playing little jokes (玩笑) on your friends and family? A new study found we’re not the only ones like doing this. Big apes (猿) have great fun doing this too. A group of scientists spent a lot of time studying the apes from San Diego Zoo in the US and Leipzig Zoo in Germany. They were surprised to find out apes love to monkey around in many ways.
Some apes would give their friend something only to take it back quickly, or even tickle (挠痒痒) each other happily. They liked to catch their friends’ hair and some even walked into their friends and fell over for fun. Often, if one ape didn’t play back, the other ape would keep doing the same funny things again and again. The young apes, around three to five years old, enjoyed doing this the most, just like little kids do. Dr. Isabelle Laumer, one scientist in this group, told the newspaper, “When little kids play jokes on their mother, they like to watch how she feels carefully. We see that in these great apes, too.” What’s more, the study found that these young apes make special sounds when playing jokes, different from the sounds they often make. It’s their way to show their happiness for monkeying around.
Next, scientists need to spend more time finding out why the apes love playing jokes on each other. They think knowing this can help us learn more about how apes and people show their feelings.
1.What fun things would apes do to joke with each other?

②a child who is active and likes doing funny things
③500 pounds
④do things in a playful way
…
A.① B.② C.③ D.④
3.What can we know from the text?
A.People are smarter than some apes. B.People can learn a lot from apes.
C.People and apes do things differently. D.People and apes have fun in the same way.

3.文章最后一段指出:“knowing this can help us learn more about how apes and people show their feelings”,说明研究大猿的开玩笑行为有助于人类了解更多情感表达方式,因此人们可以从大猿身上学到很多。
It was late at night, but Kevin lay awake in bed. He could not sleep because he was very petrified. His bed was inside a big camping tent, and just outside the tent were the fields of Africa. Kevin looked at his parents, who slept soundly in another bed across from him. He wanted to know how they could be so relaxed. What if a lion came into their tent to kill them? It took a long time before Kevin finally fell asleep.
When the sun came up, he felt his mother’s hand on his head. She looked happy and excited. “Time to wake up and go on the Safari?” “I’m frightened,” said Kevin. His parents had told him that a Safari was a long drive through the nature in Africa. During a Safari you can see lions and zebras living free, instead of being kept in a zoo. “What if we get close to a lion?” he asked.
“Oh, darling,” she said. “Like I told you, nothing will happen to us if we listen to our guide.”
Kevin walked out of the tent into bright sunlight. He got into a big green car with his mother and father. The driver named Jim was their guide. The car took off along a dirt road. After a little while, Kevin saw something moving. “Wait!” he said. “I see something!”
Jim stopped the car and told them all to get out. Soon they found an animal coming very close to them. It was a beautiful golden animal with dark brown spots and a very long neck. It had come to eat the leaves of a tall tree.

Kevin looked at his parents, who slept soundly in another bed across from him. He wanted to know how they could be so relaxed. What if a lion came into their tent to kill them?
