A Dancing Raisin (葡萄干) Experiment
Do you want to bring science magic into your home? Here is a simple and exciting experiment that will amaze any young scientist in your family.
Materials:
◇ A clear (透明的) glass
◇ fresh soda water (苏打水)
◇ several raisins
◇ a spoon
Steps:
1. Fill the glass about three quarters full with soda water.
2. Drop 4-5 raisins into the glass using the spoon. Watch what happens at first.
3. Wait for one minute. You will see something surprising! The raisins will begin to move up and down in the glass, just like they are dancing.
Why does this happen?
The soda water has bubbles (气泡) of CO2 gas. These bubbles stick to the rough (粗糙的) surfaces of the raisins. When there are enough bubbles, they lift the raisins to the top of the water. At the surface of the water, the bubbles pop (爆裂), and the raisins sink. This up-and-down movement continues for several minutes.
Give it a try and watch science come to life right before your eyes!
46. Which of the following things do you need to do the experiment?
A. B. C. D.

“I’m back, Grandma!”
I pushed the wooden door, and the smell of meat with sunshine greeted me. Grandma was airing rice cakes in the yard. Hearing my voice, she turned her head around.
“Come in a hurry! You’ve grown even taller again!” She took my hand, led me to the room, and then mysteriously opened her “treasure house”— an old-fashioned wooden box in the corner.
“Look! Here’s your favorite beef.” Grandma said, taking out a red plastic bag. I took it, and found it was as hard as a small stone. “Is it good? I kept it for a long time!”
“Yes, it’s delicious, so delicious!” Grandma bent down again at once to search for something in the box. “And there’s something else…” I was moved by her love. Tears quietly ran down my face.
Several days later when we were leaving, Grandma asked, “Will you come home more often?” Mum nodded, with tears in her eyes. To my surprise, my 70-year-oldGrandma smiled like a lovely kid. At that time, I suddenly realized that Grandma wasn’t storing snacks, but storing reasons for us to come home.
On the way back to the city, happiness rose from the bottom of my heart when I opened a piece of candy that Grandma gave me. The candy was a bit hard, but it was meaningful for me. I took a photo and shared it on my Moments (朋友圈): Grandma’s “Blind Box” — every piece is full of love. I also made up my mind to visit my grandma during the next holiday. The love really has no limited date. It will be valued and it will wait. All we need to do is to come back often, not letting the waiting be too long.

When a person loses his or her wallet, it can be a terrible experience. However, a man named Tom showed a creative way to return a lost wallet, making sure the rightful owner could get it back.
Tom found a wallet on a Saturday morning near a supermarket. He opened it and saw an ID card and a bank card. He wanted to give it to the police at once, but it was 5km away from the closest police station and he needed to go home to have an important online meeting. He worried that if he just left it in a lost and found box, someone might take it away. He decided to find a clever way — it was to make the owner get in touch with him directly without letting the cat out of the bag. So the owner’s personal information would be safe.
He came up with the idea because of the math puzzles he loved. He created a code (密码) from the owner’s birth date on the ID. He wrote, “Your birthday is the key!” He posted the note on the noticeboard of the supermarket.
Black Wallet Found
Your birthday is the key!
What’s my telephone number? You can call me by working this out:
* Y = year M = month D = day
On Monday, I will send it to the police station.
Later that day, someone called, and finally the wallet was returned to its real owner.
Tom’s method of returning the lost wallet offers a valuable example. It shows that with some creativity and a bit of thinking, we can find practical solutions to problems. Moreover, it shows the importance of using available (可用的 ) information, like the birth date on an ID card. This way not only helps the owner get back his or her lost belongings but also shows the power of creative thinking.

A. ②→④→③→① B. ④→②→③→①
C. ②→③→④→① D. ④→③→②→①
58. In paragraph 2, what does the phrase “without letting the cat out of the bag” most likely mean?

Chinese scientists have created the world’s first robot, GEAIR, that can finish the whole plant breeding (育种) process. This great invention is really important for hybrid breeding across the country.
Hybrid breeding helps plants grow stronger and produce more food to meet people’s needs. Yuan Longping created hybrid rice that has fed many people around the world. The process usually means taking away the male parts of the female plant (雌株) and then putting pollen (花粉) from the male plant onto the female plant. This helps the new plants get the best qualities from both parents. For example, if you mix a male plant that doesn’t get sick easily with a female plant that makes a lot of fruit, you can get a new plant that has both of these great qualities.
However, hybrid breeding needs workers to move pollen between different plants again and again in a short time. This work takes a lot of time and energy, so it is not easy to finish.
GEAIR solves the problem perfectly. It uses AI sight and position technology to move among crops freely. After finding flowers, it uses robotic arms to move pollen between different plants and finish the whole process.
Building the robot was difficult because leaves get in the way, and flowers are very small. Traditional computer algorithms (算法) cannot easily find them timely. To fix this, the research team trained a new model with 12,800 pictures of flowers. With this model, GEAIR can pollinate (给…授粉) each flower in 15 seconds at a cost much lower than a worker’s yearly pay.
AI makes great contribution to traditional agriculture. It changes the way of farming and makes our life better.
61. What can we learn about hybrid breeding from the passage?
A. It helps new plants get good qualities.
B. It can make all plants never get sick.
C. It only helps plants grow much taller.
D. It needs no pollen from the male plant.
62. What problem does GEAIR solve?
A. It is too hard to build new hybrid plants.
B. AI technology costs too much money in farming.
C. There are not enough plant flowers for workers to do the work.
D. Workers spend much time and energy on hybrid breeding work.
63. Which of the following is TRUE about GEAIR?
A. It is the first robot in China.
B. It can move flower pollen with robotic arms.
C. Its working cost is higher than workers’ yearly pay.
D. It uses traditional computer algorithms to find flowers.
64. Why does the writer list the numbers in Paragraph 5?
A. To show the flowers are small and hard to find.
B. To tell us a worker can pollinate many flowers.
C. To explain why it is difficult to build the robot.
D. To prove the robot is fast, cheap and well-trained.
65. What can we learn from the passage?
A. The new model took little time to train.
B. It is easy for the researcher to develop GEAIR.
C. GEAIR can make hybrid breeding faster and easier.
D. GEAIR will replace all workers in hybrid breeding soon.

Please meet there at eight o'clock. Don't be late. We have three main purposes for this trip. First, we will see great artworks in different styles. Second, our guide will help us learn the stories behind the art works. Third, we will talk with a famous artist there and ask him questions about paintings. Here are some suggestions for you. You must wear your White school uniforms, remember to bring your notebooks to write down useful ideas, also pack some simple food for lunch, because we won't have much time for outside restaurants. That's all. Wish you a wonderful trip. 第三节到此结束,现在你有两分钟的时间将试卷上的答案填涂到答题卡上。听力部分到此结束。
