Last summer, I joined a community project to record local folk stories. My grandma often talked about her childhood, so I was 16 to learn more about our town’s past. The project leader, Mr. Chen trained us to interview the elders and 17 their stories carefully.
At first, I was shy to talk to strangers. When I visited Mrs. Li, an 80-year-old lady, I didn’t know what to 18 . But she smiled warmly and started sharing her experience of planting rice in the 1960s. Her stories were so lively that I 19 took notes without stopping.

After two months, we finished a book of folk stories. When we gave a copy to the elders, they were 24 and thanked us. Mr. Chen said, “You’ve helped save a part of our cultural heritage (遗产)—these 25 will never be forgotten now.”
This experience changed me. I’m no longer shy and have more 26 to talk to people. I also realized that cultural heritage is hidden in daily life, waiting for us to 27 . Now, I often ask my grandma more questions about the past.
In the future, I want to 28 similar projects. I hope to travel around our province and collect more folk stories. Every story is a link tourist, and 29 them is a way to honor our ancestors. Living with a host family when studying abroad is a special experience. Being away from family can be hard, but it lets you see the world from a new view.
I grew up near the Pacific Ocean. My family loved going to the beach every weekend, building sandcastles and watching the waves, but I always felt bored there—nothing seemed new to me. When 1 moved to Germany to live with a host family, I told them about my beach stories. They were shocked and said they really looked forward to having a chance to see the ocean, while they saw as a magical place.
One Saturday morning, my host dad suggested visiting the ruins of a nearby castle(城堡).The kids complained(抱怨), “Oh no, another castle!” But I was excited because I’d never seen a real castle before. Castles are rare in my country, so the idea of visiting one was exciting to me.
We went to the castle that Saturday, and it was amazing. It had tall stone walls, old towers, and narrow stone stairs. I pictured what life was like there hundreds of years ago—knights walking on the walls, families sitting in the yards. My host brothers and sisters showed me their favorite spots, and we explored the castle together.
From this experience I learned that both the ocean and old castles can be fun places to visit if you gave a good altitude(态度). Living with my host family helped me enjoy new experiences and find beauty in old things I once missed.

C. Having a good attitude is important.
37. Where is the passage most likely from?
A. Storybook. B. Health magazine. C. Business survey.

How many fathers usually come to the parent-teacher meetings in your class? Have you ever thought of a “dads-only” parent-teacher meeting?
On Aug.24, 2025, a school in Hangzhou held a special meeting just for dads. The goal was to "encourage dads to actively take part in family education, reported by Guangming Daily.
In recent years, people have been discussing father’s absence from family education. According to a 2020 survey by the All-China Women’s Federation and National Bureau of Statistics, most moms in China help their kids with homework. About 68 out of 100 moms do this, while the number of fathers doing so is much lower.
However, dads and moms both play important roles in their children’s education. “Dads can shape young kids’ personalities,” said Luo Xuepeng from Guangdong. He is a father of a 9-year-old boy. “A reasonable and strong dad can help kids develop good habits and become more outgoing,” he added. For example, many fathers now realize that spending more time with their kids matters a lot— it can make both kids and themselves feel warm.
Of course, dads can’t fix everything by themselves. If laws give dads more time to care for their babies, if workplaces let them attend school meetings and spend more time with their kids, and if people stop believing that only moms should do these things, then things will get better, noted the Global Times. Such “dads-only” meetings are small but meaningful steps to remind everyone of fathers’ important role in raising children.
38. Why was the parent-teacher meeting at a school in Hangzhou special?
A. The parents were also teachers.
B. Only dads were invited to the meeting.
C. It discussed the importance of family education.
39. What does the 2020 survey say about families in China?
A. Many mothers give housework to their kids.
B. Mothers often help a lot with family education.
C. Fathers started to play a bigger role in family education.
40. What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 4 refer to?
A. Helping kids with housework.
B. Attending dads-only meetings.
C. Spending more time with their kids.
41. What is the best title for the passage?
A. The Importance of Homework Help.
B. A Survey About Family Education in China.
C. Dads-only Parent-teacher Meetings: A New Try.

Chinese culture is wonderful and full of history. We can share many things with the world, like the Spring Festival, kung fu, and especially tea culture.
Chinese tea has a long history. People drink tea every day to relax or stay healthy. There are different kinds of tea, such as green tea, black tea, and oolong tea. When guests come, we serve tea to show respect and friendship. Tea is not just a drink — it’s a symbol of Chinese hospitality.
Let’s introduce Chinese tea culture to people around the world. By doing this, we help them understand and love China more.
Chinese food is famous, but our table manners are also an important part of the culture. For example, we should let the elders start eating first. It shows respect. When we use chopsticks, we should not stick them upright into a bowl of rice, because that reminds people of funeral rites. Also, we should not tap chopsticks on the bowl like beggars.
Sharing dishes is common in China. We use serving chopsticks or spoons to pick up food for others, which is a warm gesture.
Let’s share these manners with the world. They show our respect, care, and traditions.
Chinese culture is rich and amazing. There are many things we can share with the world, such as the Spring Festival, Chinese kung fu, tea, and paper cutting.
The Spring Festival is the most important traditional festival in China. It usually comes in January or February. Before the festival, families clean their houses to sweep away bad luck. They also put up red couplets and paper-cuttings on doors and windows.
On the Eve, everyone comes back home for a big dinner. We eat dumplings, fish, and many other delicious dishes. After dinner, children get red envelopes with lucky money from elders. At midnight, we set off fireworks to welcome the new year.
The Spring Festival brings joy and hope. Let’s share this beautiful culture with the world! By sharing our culture, we help them understand China better. Let’s take pride in our culture and show it to the world!
