Jia’s invention, named “Automatic Watering Device (自动浇水装置) for Trees in Dry Places”, is a small machine that waters young trees without using electricity. This year, more than 540 amazing inventions from around the world took part in the show, which makes Jia’s gold prize even more meaningful and valuable.
Jia’s hometown lies in Horqin Sandy Land It’s always dry with little rain there, so trees find it hard to grow. When Jia was younger, he often saw farmers carrying water with difficultly to water trees by hand. Their hard work made this invention-loving boy want to do something to help.

When Jia Mingxuan’s school found this, it promised to give the boy full support. It even helped raise money from local government, the Red Cross, communities and even caring organizations. Different Learning Styles
Many people ask me “What’s the best way to learn?” To tell the truth, there isn’t one correct answer. Different people have different learning styles. Here are some of them.
Some people learn by rules. They need rules and explanations to understand new materials. Once they find a rule and use it, they’ll learn better. However, some other people prefer learning by doing. These people will learn better if they have the chance to use their hands or body. They don’t like explanations. They remember better if they do a task rather than just reading about it.
Some people learn by seeing or hearing. For those who learn by seeing, they can understand better once they see a picture, a table, or a real object. Pictures or photos help them remember new material. When they try to remember the information, they will remember the picture or photo first. For those who learn by hearing, they like to listen to sounds and voices rather than just see or read. It is difficult for them to remember the information unless they listen to someone talking about it.
Some people prefer to learn alone while other people like to learn with others. For those who prefer to learn on their own, they won’t feel comfortable unless they study by themselves in a quiet room. For those who like to learn with others, they like to work in groups and discuss the subject with other people in order to understand it better.
Most people don’t have only one learning style, but they may prefer one style to another. We all learn in different ways, and it’s important to find out which way suits you.

We can often see tornadoes (龙卷风) in movies and books. A tornado can be very 51 (danger). It can reach wind speeds over 450 kilometers per hour and travel over 30 kilometers before 52 (come) to an end. Most tornadoes last for about 10 minutes, but larger ones 53 (usual) last around 30 minutes. They kill lots of people every year.
Scientists can’t go inside tornadoes. That 54 (mean) tornadoes are very hard to study. So how tornadoes form and die is still 55 open question. In order 56 tell how strong a tornado is, scientists look at how much damage (损害) it causes. Then they set the levels (级别) on the EF-Scale (分级), from EF0 to EF5. For example, if a tornado only damages trees, it will be at the level of EF0, while a tornado at the strongest level of EF5 57 (blow) away buildings.
Since tornadoes can happen very quickly, make sure you know what to do when facing 58 (they). When you find yourself meeting a tornado, calm down and try to find a safe place inside. Put your hands over the back of your head for 59 (protect). Also, stay away from windows and heavy things, 60 they may fall on you.
51.dangerous 52.coming 53.usually 54.means 55.an 56.to 57.blows 58.them 59.protection 60.or/because
in order to do sth表示“为了做某事”,固定搭配。

A 14-year-old boy from China has surprised the world in 2025. Jia Mingxuan, from Chifeng City, won a top prize at an international invention show in Germany. It is one of the three biggest invention events in the world.
One day, as he watched his mum cooking, Jia noticed small water drops running down the pot cover. It reminded him of a physics lesson about steam. Steam turns into water when the temperature drops. A great idea hit him suddenly. “Could I create a machine that collects water from the air to water the tree roots (根) deep inside the soil by itself?”
With the help from his dad and teachers, Jia began turning his idea into reality. He used many things to start testing and failed four times, but he didn’t give up. On his fifth try, he made it! Later, he won the first place in a top Chinese invention contest! That gave him the chance to go to Germany.
However, the cost of traveling abroad was nearly as much as all the money his family could make in one year. To avoid adding pressure to his parents, he nearly decided to give up the competition. When Jia Mingxuan’s school found this, it promised to give the boy full support. It even helped raise money from local government, the Red Cross, communities and even caring organizations. With the support from many people, Jia Mingxuan finally went to Germany. On the international stage, the Chinese teenager showed the creativity to the world.

D.Because they are fun to look at.

A.Everyone should learn in the same way.
B.There are different learning styles, and we should find the one that suits us.
C.Learning alone is always better than learning with others.
