In today’s global trade, product safety is extremely important. Therefore, labels on products help consumers make informed choices.
The primary function of these marks is to ensure the safety of users and property. For instance, electrical equipment sold in the European Union must carry the “CE” mark. This sign proves that the product meets all relevant EU standards. Unlike an official approval, it is based on the company’s own evaluation. In contrast, the Chinese “CCC” mark requires testing by an official organization, and a certificate must be obtained. Products without the “CCC” mark cannot be sold in China.
Other marks are also important. The French “FR” sign instructs consumers to separate packaging for recycling. The “RoHS” mark shows a product limits harmful materials under EU rules, but as it is merely one part of the CE standard, it does not ensure full compliance (遵守). Codes like “SKC/SKU” are simply used by companies to manage their product storage. Most importantly, products must have clear safety warnings on their labels, or they will be banned from the market.
Below is a product label:
▲WARNING To avoid danger of choke, keep this plastic bag away from babies and children.
Do not use it in beds, carriages or playpens.
▲WARNING This product contains a button cell or coin battery.
A swallowed button cell or coin battery can cause Internal Chemical Burns.
Battery liquid is poisonous and can cause dizziness and other serious symptoms.
1. What is a feature of the “CE” mark?
A. Official testing required.
B. Self-assessment by the maker.
C. Focus on recycling only.
D. Storage code for companies.
2. What is the purpose of the “FR” sign?
A. To limit harmful materials.
B. To prove EU safety standard.
C. To guide waste separation.
D. To manage product storage.
3. Where is this text most likely taken from?
A. A company storage guide.
B. A consumer safety manual.
C. A product delivery label.
D. A government trade paper.

Last year. my husband and I decided to make our 12-storey building more of a community. We live in a small rented apartment in Park Merced, a large housing development. I would call us lower-middle-class. A lot of nurses. bus drivers. and tradesmen live here, many of them Ist or 2nd generation immigrants.
We’re all renters. Renters come and go and tend not to sec the buildings they live in as their home. But it can be done. We started with a monthly two-hour social in the building lobby (前厅) on the second Fridays of each month. Some people came, between 15-30 each time. The events lasted two hours, but there wasn’t much to do besides talking, eating snacks and drinking juice. The socials were nice, but most residents gave them a miss.
Then one day I was on the nearby campus of San Francisco State University. A young man from a social club for students had a big sign about “Building Community”. I asked him. “How do you do that?” He said they tried to get people to share something about themselves with at least one other person. That made a lot of sense to me.
I bought a large world map. At the social, I placed it on the entrance hall walls with signs that said “Where We’re From. Put a green sticker (贴纸) where you were born and yellow stickers where your grandparents were born.” People put up their stickers and looked where other people came from. We left the map up overnight, and the next day, Saturday, more people played. I planned to leave the map and stickers up for a month or more. They certainly made the lobby more interesting than the housing project look it usually has.
I see that there will be challenges, but I also know that a strong community will help us live good lives. I have the time and energy to do this work.
4. What trouble did the author have building a community?
A. The community was poor. B. She lacked enough money.
C. Renters had no sense of belonging. D. Her neighbors were all immigrants.
5. How did the author find her earlier events?
A. Fruitful. B. Ordinary. C. Inspiring. D. Messy.
6. What did the author do in order to change the socials?
A. Adopt a sharing game. B. Add foods and drinks.
C. Admit experienced locals. D. Ask some students for support.
7. Which of the following best describes the author?
A. Responsible and strict. B. Demanding and ambitious.
C. Knowledgeable and frank. D. Thoughtful and determined.

Black Myth: Wukong is one of the most highly anticipated Chinese video games ever, a premium title with a blockbuster- worthy budget that emphasizes the country’s push to become a global cultural power. The game’s release is a landmark moment for China’s gaming industry. It is considered China’s first “AAA” title, a big- budget, global game with sophisticated gameplay and advanced visuals.
Within hours of its release, there were more than 1.5million people playing it on Steam, making it the No.1 game on the online platform. Black Myth: Wuhong is adapted from the16th- century Chinese classic novel Journey to the West. The game’s main character is inspired by Sun Wukong, also known as the Monkey King, who battles opponents with a magic iron bar.
China’s video game industry is dominated by titles played on smartphones, not big- budget console (主机游戏) or PC games that are released globally. However, Black Myth: Wukong marks a shift as it is being initially released on Sony’s PlayStation 5 and personal computers. In recent years, the industry in China has faced significant challenges. The government has implemented strict regulations to control gaming due to concerns that children could become addicted and negatively influenced. For example, Beijing has introduced rules that prohibit young people from playing games online on school days and impose strict time limits on gaming during weekends and holidays.
But the game’s launch lit up national pride. One Chinese media outlet noted that the game’s default language is Chinese and added, “It feels so good.” The global interest in the game also highlighted China’s push to exercise its “soft power.” The novel that it is based on is considered one of China’s four great classics. The game also depicts important cultural landmarks throughout China.
“The success of Black Myth: Wukong is not only a victory for the gaming industry, but also an important milestone in the overseas expansion of Chinese culture,” Yangcheng Evening News, a state- owned newspaper, wrote in an article.
8. What do we know about Black Myth: Wukong?
A. It focuses on basic gameplay elements.
B. It shifts China’s gaming towards consoles.
C. It features a world born of pure imagination.
D. It acts as a landmark for adapting Chinese myth.
9. What challenge has China’s gaming industry faced recently?
A. Insufficient budget for game development.
B. Increasing popularity of smartphone games.
C. China’s lack of emphasis on cultural soft power.
D. Government measures to restrict youth gaming time.
10. What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A. The game targets Western audience with its cultural themes.
B. The game is a big step in showing Chinese culture worldwide.
C. The game’s success is a way to boost China’s economic growth.
D. The game strengthens national pride by highlighting Chinese culture.
11. What can be the best title of the text?
A. Black Myth: Wukong as a Cultural Ambassador
B. The Impact of Gaming Industry on China’s Youth
C. The Impact of Gaming Industry on Chinese Culture
D. Black Myth: Wukong’s Influence on Game Mechanics
D
Academic achievement is a key indicator of adolescents (青少年) development and future potential While physical activity is known to benefit physical and mental health, its indirect effects on academic performance are less understood. A recent study set out to explore exactly this connection. thus helping schools design better arrangements for students.
The study examined over 360 high school students with an average age of 17 Using various models. researchers analyzed how physical activity level, exercise duration (持续时间)and types of activity influenced academic performance. Contrary to their expectations. the amount of time students spent exercising showed no significant connection with their grades. Instead, one specific component stood out as a significant predictor.
That component was explosive strength (爆发力). measured through the countermovement (反向运动) jump test. Students who performed better in this jump test tended to achieve higher academic scores. Statistical analysis revealed that jump performance and age significantly affected the academic performance model, with a p-value of 0.14. Together, these factors explained about 9. 3% of the variation in academic grades.
What explains this connection? The researchers suggest that explosive strength may indicate overall neurological health (神经系统健康) and cognitive (认知的) function. Developing such fitness requires discipline and goal-setting-skills that are turned directly to academic pursuits. Moreover. biochemical changes associated with improved fitness, such as enhanced blood flow to the brain, may create better conditions for learning. For high school students facing pressure from exams, even 20 minutes of moderate exercise can serve as a reset button for a stressed mind.
This study highlights that improving targeted physical fitness does not distract from academic success. but effectively promotes it. For students buried in textbooks and papers, this finding offers a scientific basis to take regular short breaks from their desks-not as a way to avoid study responsibilities, but as a practical method to promote overall learning efficiency.
For senior high school students, improving physical fitness, especially explosive strength, should never be put off until after exams. Instead, it is an essential part of mental preparation for the toughest academic challenges.
12. What was the unexpected discovery made by the researchers?
A. Multiple components predicted grades. B. Physical activity level led to high grades.
C. Exercise duration was unrelated to grades. D. Different sports varied in effects on grades.
13. What does the underlined phrase “reset button” in Paragraph4 probably mean?
A. A button to restart a machine. B. A method to refresh the mind.
C. A way to get your mind ready for study. D. A means to relieve physical stress.
14. According to the last paragraph, what is the author’s attitude towards physical activity in school?
A. Doubtful. B. Objective. C. Supportive. D. Critical.
15. Which of the following is probably the best arrangement schools design for students?
A. Organizing Tai Chi workshops. B. Doubling daily jogging time.
C. Offering distance running training. D. Doing standing long jump practice.

Painting the T-shirts of Love
My six-year-old daughter Sophia has a profound love for painting. To her, every surface is a canvas — be it the living room floor or the kitchen table — often turning our home into a chaotic art studio. While I appreciate her creativity, I frequently find myself frustrated by the mess and the seemingly endless cleanup. Thankfully, my husband Lucas is a great support. He has bought washable paints and redesigned Sophia’s bedroom walls with wipeable drawing boards, creating a space where she can express herself freely, anytime she wishes. Most of the time, this arrangement fosters a harmonious atmosphere in our home.
One Sunday afternoon, the three of us explored a busy mall for new clothes. A designer white T-shirt adorned with delicate painted flowers caught my eye. It was so elegant and lovely, but the price tag took my breath away — it was far beyond our budget. With a quiet sigh, I reluctantly turned away.
Sophia noticed my disappointment and whispered something to Lucas. Lucas offered to buy us some drinks. Moments later, he returned with the drinks and a few other items.
On Monday afternoon I arrived home from work, exhausted and hungry. I found Sophia was scribbling (涂鸦) on a T-shirt with fabric (布料) paints in her bedroom. When I saw the splashes of paint on the floor and the messy graffiti on the T-shirt, I lost my temper. I angrily threw the paints and T-shirt into the trash. Lucas rushed in to ease the tension, while tears were streaming down Sophia’s cheeks. Later, Lucas told me about Sophia’s plan — to paint a beautiful rose on a white T-shirt for me. I was deeply moved but filled with regret.

1.续写词数应为150个左右;

Last year. my husband and I decided to make our 12-storey building more of a community.

【答案】12. C 13. B 14. C 15. D
【解析】
【导语】文章主要讲述了研究发现爆发力与青少年学业成绩显著相关,提示学校应重视针对性体能训练。
【12题详解】
细节理解题。根据第二段中“Contrary to their expectations. the amount of time students spent exercising showed no significant connection with their grades.(与他们的预期相反,学生花在锻炼上的时间与成绩没有显著相关性)”可知,运动时长与成绩无关是出乎意料的发现。
【13题详解】
词句猜测题。根据第四段“For high school students facing pressure from exams, even 20 minutes of moderate exercise can serve as a reset button for an overwhelmed mind.(对于面临考试压力的高中生来说,即使是20分钟的适度运动,也能为不堪重负的大脑充当一个reset button)”可知,面对考试压力时,20分钟的适度运动也能让大脑休息并恢复清醒,所以reset button指的是让大脑恢复清醒、焕新的方法。
【14题详解】
推理判断题。根据最后一段“For senior high school students, improving physical fitness, especially explosive strength, should never be put off until after exams. Instead, it is an essential part of mental preparation for the toughest academic challenges.(对于高中生来说,增强身体素质,尤其是爆发力,绝不能等到考试之后再去做。相反,这是一项至关重要的准备工作,有助于应对最严峻的学业挑战)”可知,作者对于学校里的体育活动是支持态度。
【15题详解】
推理判断题。根据第三段“That component was explosive strength (爆发力). measured through the countermovement (反向运动) jump test. Students who performed better in this jump test tended to achieve higher academic scores. Statistical analysis revealed that jump performance and age significantly affected the academic performance model, with a p-value of 0.14.(那个关键因素是爆发力,通过反向运动跳跃测试来衡量。在这项跳跃测试中表现更好的学生往往能取得更高的学业成绩。统计分析显示,跳跃表现和年龄显著影响了学业成绩模型,p值为0.14)”可知,研究表明爆发力训练最有效,而立定跳远正是锻炼爆发力的项目。

1.续写词数应为150个左右;

Paragraph 2: Lucas was amazed when he saw the artworks being created by Sophia and me. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】
Paragraph 1: The next day I came to Sophia’s room with three white T-shirts and some fabric paints. I knelt beside her, my heart heavy with guilt, and sincerely apologized for losing my temper. Sophia looked up, her eyes wide, and after a moment, she embraced me tightly, whispering that she forgave me. When I presented Sophia with the T-shirts and paints, her eyes sparkled with excitement. The bond between us felt even stronger as we began to paint together, the room filling with laughter and vibrant colors. We decided to paint roses on the T-shirts. “Let’s start with some simple sketches,” Sophia suggested, grabbing a pencil to outline the designs.
Paragraph 2: Lucas was amazed when he saw the artworks being created by Sophia and me. Drawn by the vibrant colors and our imaginative designs, he eagerly joined us in the creation of the artworks. The painting on the three T-shirts turned out beautifully, showcasing roses of red, yellow and blue. The moment we finished painting, we excitedly tried them on, embracing and laughing together. The T-shirts of love witnessed our affection and understanding, capturing our artistic journey and the deep connections we shared.
