Three influential artists from different times show how creativity can survive challenges and achieve lasting impact. Their stories inspire both artists and non-artists alike. Leonardo da Vinci: Curiosity as Inspiration Leonardo da Vinci, a Renaissance master, knew the fundamental importance of practice. He had to tolerate long hours of routine study to acquire precise skills in painting, science, and engineering. His inspiration came from observing nature, and his realistic portrait of the Mona Lisa still conveys deep humanistic ideas today. The purpose of his art was to capture the complexity of humanity, not just paint what he saw. Frida Kahlo: Turning Pain into Art Frida Kahlo’s life was marked by suffering, but she turned it into powerful art. She combined traditional Mexican culture with modern styles. Her previous works were simple, but subsequent pieces, including self-portraits, brought her global reputation. She purchased traditional clothing and bronze jewelry as part of her signature look. Though her health declined, she guaranteed her art would leave a permanent mark. She was fond of using frames and vases in her paintings to symbolize beauty in broken things. Ansel Adams: Photography as a Voice Ansel Adams, a humble photographer, stepped out of his comfort zone to document the American West. His work emerged as a breakthrough in nature photography. He invested in large-format cameras to capture every detail. His memorial photos of national parks are still admired by many. Art is subjective, but Adams’works remind us of the basic connection between humans and nature. All three artists prove that true art can survive time, connect people, and inspire the world. 1. What was the fundamental inspiration for Leonardo da Vinci’s art? A. Wealthy clients. B. Observing nature. C. Modern photography. D. Traditional jewelry. 2. Why did Frida Kahlo use vases and frames in her paintings? A. To represent beauty in broken things. B. To show her noble background. C. To improve her photography skills. D. To guarantee her works would sell well. 3. What can we learn about Ansel Adams from the text? A. He only painted realistic portraits. B. He preferred to stay in his comfort zone. C. His photos are still admired today. D. His art focused on city life. B On first impression, Zhang Xue doesn’t seem to care whether people like him. But behind his rough appearance lies a story of adversity and courage. Zhang Xue, now 39, is the founder of ZXMOTO, a Chinese motorcycle brand that recently made history by winning two World Supersport races in Portugal. Few people know that his journey to success was filled with setbacks. Growing up in a poor family in Hunan, Zhang had to drop out of school at an early age. He became an apprentice in a small repair shop, working long hours for little pay. Many people laughed at his dream of building a high-performance Chinese motorcycle. “You’re just a repairman,” they said. “You’ll never make it.” But Zhang refused to give up. He spent his savings on second-hand books and taught himself engineering at night. When he finally started his own company in 2024, he faced even greater challenges. Foreign suppliers refused to sell him key parts, hoping to keep their technological advantage. Instead of backing down, Zhang decided to develop his own engine. “There were times when I wanted to quit,” Zhang admits. “But every time I thought about my dream, I found the courage to keep going.” After countless failures and sleepless nights, his team overcame one technical problem after another. They developed an independent engine that could compete with the world’s best. His perseverance paid off. In March 2026, ZXMOTO’s 820RR-RS bike won two World Supersport races, beating giants like Ducati and Yamaha. Zhang’s story has inspired millions of young people in China. “If you have a dream,” he says, “don’t let anyone tell you it’s impossible. Adversity only makes you stronger.” 4. What can we learn about Zhang Xue’s early life? A. He was born into a wealthy family. B. He received a formal engineering education. C. He faced poverty and lack of support. D. He was a professional racer from the start. 5. How did Zhang Xue respond when foreign suppliers refused to sell him parts? A. He decided to develop his own engine. B. He gave up his dream. C. He borrowed money to buy from others. D. He moved his company to another country. 6. The underlined word “perseverance” in Paragraph 6 is closest in meaning to ________. A. talent and luck B. continued effort despite difficulties C. wealth and fame D. natural ability without practice 7. What is the main message of Zhang Xue’s story? A. Success comes only to those with a good education. B. Foreign technology is necessary for success. C. Wealth is the most important thing in life. D. Adversity and courage can lead to great achievements. C Scientists are now digging into precisely why exercise holds so many benefits for our mental health and memory. The answer, studies say, lies in our brain chemistry. Each time you work up a sweat, your body releases feel-good happy hormones (荷尔蒙), including endorphins, dopamine and endocannabinoids, the latter being responsible for the so-called runner’s high. Now researchers are also pointing to myokines (肌肉因子) as an important contributor to the mental health benefits of exercise. When our muscles contract, myokines are released into the bloodstream, helping your muscles and organs communicate. They think this communication increases resilience to stress, reduces symptoms of mental suffering and anxiety and has a direct effect on depression. A 2021 scientific report published in Neuropharmacology showed evidence that myokines boost brain function, like improving memory and mood. “Myokines reduce systemic inflammation (炎症), which is especially beneficial for people with drug-resistant depression whose low mood is linked to high inflammation,” explains Dr Jennifer Heisz, an expert in brain health and associate professor in the department of kinesiology at McMaster University in Canada. A recent study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine showed that treatment for depression can be much more effective when physical activity is added to the usual care. Participants found benefits after 12 weeks of exercising for 30 to 60 minutes a day. “While exercise is not a replacement for professional mental health treatment, physical activity can complement and enhance the effects of the treatment,” says lead researcher Ben Singh, a research fellow at the University of South Australia. “It is amazing to consider how moving our bodies can heal our minds,” says Heisz. Whether you’re cycling, walking around your neighbourhood or doing yoga, getting sweaty is good for your body and mind. To get the biggest overall health boost, the key is to zero in on sports and activities you enjoy, so you’ll keep going back to them. 8. How do myokines boost our mental health? A. By bonding muscles with organs. B. By slowing down our bloodstream. C. By contracting muscles through the body. D. By releasing happy hormones in our brain. 9. What is Ben Singh’s attitude towards physical activity in treatment for depression? A. Doubtful. B. Negative. C. Uncertain. D. Approving. 10. What does the underlined phrase “zero in on” in the last paragraph mean? A. Adapt to. B. Give up. C. Focus on. D. Put off. 11. How does the author develop the text? A. By making comparisons. B. By presenting research findings. C. By offering suggestions. D. By conducting some experiments. D Plastic is everywhere, from the Arctic ice to vital organs in the human body. In fact, previous estimates suggest that the average person swallows a credit card-worth of microscopic plastic particles(颗粒) every week. But new research shows that this could actually be an understatement. Microplastics are plastics smaller than 5 millimeters, found in industrial waste, beauty products, and formed during the degradation of larger plastic pieces. Over time, they break down into even smaller nanoplastics. These tiny particles can pass through our intestines and lungs into our bloodstreams, reaching vital organs like the heart and brain. While the idea of eating plastic is unsettling in itself, the major concern here is that these plastic particles contain chemicals that can interrupt our body’s natural release of hormones, potentially increasing our risk of reproductive disorders and certain cancers. They can also carry toxins(毒素) on their surface like heavy metals. In the past, researchers have shown bottled water can contain tens of thousands of identifiable plastic fragments in a single container. However, until recently, only the larger microplastics were detectable with available measuring tools, leaving the area of nanoplastics largely a mystery. Using Raman microscopy (显微镜学), capable of detecting particles down to the size of a flu virus, the team measured an average of 240, 000 particles of plastic per liter of bottled water, 90 percent of which were nanoplastics, a revelation 10 to 100 times larger than previous estimates. These plastics likely originate from the bottle material, filters used to “purify” the water, and the source water itself. “It is not totally unexpected to find so much of this stuff, ” the study’s lead author, Columbia graduate student Naixin Qian, said in a statement. His team hopes to expand their research into tap water and other water sources to better inform our exposure to these potentially dangerous particles. “The idea is that the smaller things get, the more of them I reveal, ” he added. 12. What is the primary focus of the new research? A. The presence of plastic particles. B. The use of plastic in everyday products. C. The detection methods for microplastics. D. The potential risks of nanoplastics to human. 13. What is the advantage of Raman microscopy? A. Finding the source of plastic particles. B. Helping to cure the deadly flu virus. C. Detecting the smaller plastic particles. D. Improving the quality of bottled water. 14. Why will the team expand their research into tap water? A. To focus on areas with higher plastic pollution. B. To be aware of the dangerous particles in daily life. C. To further measure the types of particles in tap water. D. To detect the smaller plastic particles in industrial areas. 15. What is Qian’s attitude towards his research? A. Skeptical. B. Objective. C. Conservative. D. Positive. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Start a Healthy Habit Many people want to live a healthier life. They decide to exercise more or eat better food. They feel excited at first. But after a few weeks, they often stop and return to their old ways. ____16____. The good news is that there are some simple ways to make habits stick. First, make your new habit easy to see. The more visible it is, the more likely you are to do it. For example, if you want to drink more water, place a full water bottle right on your desk where you work or study. ____17____. This small change can help you drink more without much effort. Second, try a method called “habit stacking.” This simply means that you add a new habit to something you already do every day. ____18____. For instance, you could do a gentle stretch right after you finish brushing your teeth. Because brushing is a fixed part of your day, the new habit becomes much easier to remember. Third, pay attention to how you think about yourself. Instead of telling yourself “I will try to go running,” start saying “I am a runner.” ____19____. When you start to see yourself as a healthy and active person, your actions will naturally follow that belief. Finally, do not be too hard on yourself if you slip up or miss a day. Nobody is perfect, and everyone has moments when they fall back. ____20____. The key is to just begin again the very next day. Remember, even tiny steps taken over time can lead to big and lasting changes. A. When you see the bottle, you will be reminded to drink. B. You do not need to be perfect. C. This small shift in the way you think can make a real difference. D. But building a new habit does not have to be such a struggle. E. You simply attach the new behavior to a daily routine you already follow. F. Trying to change too many habits at once often leads to giving up. G. What really matters is getting back on the right track quickly. 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。 I used to hate running. As a child, he spent every summer walking along the clean, sandy beach, collecting shells and watching the waves. The salty air and the cry of seagulls were like old friends to him. However, when he returned home from school at age sixteen, he was shocked by what he saw. The beautiful beach was now covered with plastic waste — bottles, bags, broken toys, and even old shoes. The once clear water looked dirty. There was no doubt that the situation had become terrible. Christian felt a deep sense of loss and anger. He had learned in class about plastic pollution and how it harms sea animals. He knew that sea turtles often mistake plastic bags for food, which can kill them. The thought made him sad. Christian decided he could no longer just watch. He was determined to take action. It was his responsibility to help restore the beach. However, he also knew that one person could not solve such a big problem alone. He needed to raise environmental awareness among others. He started an organization called “Waves of Change.” The early days were hard. Many people did not care about proper disposal of waste or recycling. But Christian did not give up. He talked to his schoolmates, showing them photos of the polluted beach and explaining the need for conservation. Slowly, more and more students began to understand. They decided to join him. They wanted to bring back the beach’s beauty and protect the ocean. Sustained effort, Christian believed, would finally make a difference. 注意: (1)续写词数应为150个左右; (2)请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Paragraph 1: Together, Christian and his group did many simple but meaningful things. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: Their hard work finally paid off, bringing them a sense of relief and pride. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 南宁市银海三雅学校2025—2026学年度春季学期高二年级段考 英语试卷 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 做题时,先将答案标在试卷上。 1. Every Saturday morning, he led his group to the beach, picking up plastic waste piece by piece. He believed that even small actions could help restore the environment. “Don’t leave any bottle behind,” he said firmly. His group members followed him, wearing gloves and carrying recycling bags. Though tired, their eyes shone with determination. Seeing the beach cleaner, Christian felt hopeful. A slight smile appeared on his face. Paragraph 2: Their hard work finally paid off, bringing them a sense of relief and pride. After several months, Christian stood by the shore and looked around. One member cried out excitedly, “Look! No more plastic bags!” The whole group cheered, their faces glowing with joy. A wave of relief washed over him. He realized it was their sustained effort that made the difference. He turned to his friends and gave them a thumbs-up. “We proved that small actions matter,” he said, his voice full of pride. With the clean sea behind him, he smiled, tears of happiness in his eyes. Looking at the restored beach, he understood deeply: It is everyone’s responsibility to protect nature, and no effort is too small when we work together. 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
