Over 2,300 students and teachers from two schools in Guyuan, Ningxia, spent about 16 hours hiking to show respect for the martyrs (烈士).
They began the trip at 4:30 am on April 1st. They hiked twenty-seven kilometers from their schools to the Renshanhe Martyrs Cemetery (墓园). “It was still dark for the first half of the trip. And walking along the mountain roads was difficult. However, none of us gave up. When the girls had trouble climbing up the mountains, the boys helped,” said Zhang Yuxin, a student from No. 2 Middle School. And as police officers and doctors followed the team all the time, there was no need to worry about their safety.
Wang Kaixin was from Hongwen Middle School. His feet began to hurt halfway. But when a parent volunteer asked him to get in his car, he said no. “I felt like if I couldn’t walk to the place on my own this time, I might run away from difficulties in my life. So I had to keep going,” he said.
During the trip, the students held up red flags and sang old songs loudly. The team finally arrived at around 11:00 am. Then they swept the tombs (扫墓) for the martyrs there. After that, the students returned to Guyuan on foot.
In fact, hiking was nothing new for the two schools. “We have been doing this every year since 1995,” said Mian Youlu, a teacher from No. 2 Middle School. “The students can have unforgettable memories and strengthen (增强) their bodies and minds by doing this.”

On April 19, 2026, a special half-marathon took place in Beijing. It was not just for humans—humanoid robots joined the race too! Honor’s “Lightning” robot surprised everyone by finishing the 21.0975 km run in 50 minutes and 26 seconds, even faster than the human world record of 57 minutes and 20 seconds.
This event was a big step for China’s robot technology. Unlike the first race in 2025, when robots took more than 2 hours, they now showed great progress. The robots could navigate on their own, run on different roads, and keep moving steadily for a long time. These skills are hard to develop, and the teams spent months improving them.
For students, this event is more than just a tech show. It teaches us the importance of hard work and never giving up, just like the engineers who kept improving their designs. It also encourages us to keep our own bodies strong through exercise, because both humans and robots need to be “fit” to do great things.
Science and sports can come together in amazing ways. This race shows that with curiosity, hard work, and a healthy body, we can keep making new breakthroughs.
46. When did the special half-marathon for humanoid robots take place?
A. On April 19, 2025 B. On April 19, 2026 C. On May 19, 2026

A. 50 minutes and 26 seconds B. 57 minutes and 20 seconds
C. 2 hours and 40 minutes
48. What improvement did the robots show compared to 2025?
A. They could talk to people while running.
B. They ran much faster and more steadily.
C. They could jump over high obstacles.
49. What does the event teach students according to the passage?
A. To give up easily when facing difficulties.
B. Robots will soon replace all human jobs.
C.The importance of hard work and good health.
50. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. Human robots will take part in all sports events soon.
B. A robot half-marathon shows China’s tech progress and life lessons.
C. Human athletes can no longer beat robots in running races.

A recent survey by Xiaoyuan.youth.cn asked 1,382 college students in China about traditional cultural products. It found that 74.89% of young people are interested in intangible cultural heritage (ICH, 非物质文化遗产) products, showing growing popularity among the young.
Du Jianghan, a university student, teaches part-time at a calligraphy program. In his classes, he often adds historical stories to his teaching, which makes the lessons really interesting. He hopes to keep the art alive and spread calligraphy culture in this way.
Xu Yezhou is a student from Yangzhou University. She likes collecting Huishan clay figurines (泥人) — a traditional product from her hometown. When she was a child, they were widely available in local shops, but now they are mostly in tourist shops. To keep this skill alive and pass it down, she teaches clay figurine making in local communities. "These skills carry local wisdom and culture," she said.
However, it is still not easy to spread ICH products. Some are sold at high prices. Some young people have little interest in them. Actually, the biggest challenge is that they are not useful in modern life.
Dang Feihua, an inheritor of ICH, said that creative thinking is the key to developing ICH. "We should create and perform the stories that people want to see. We will try to turn 'old traditions' into 'new favorites'," he said.
51.What does the survey result show?
A. Few young people know about ICH products.
B. Most young people are interested in ICH products.
C. Most college students have never bought ICH products.
52.Why does Xu Yezhou teach clay figurine making in local communities?
A. To teach kids how to make interesting toys.
B. To keep the traditional skill alive and pass it down.
C. To win prizes for her university.
53.What can we infer from the fourth paragraph?
A. All ICH products are too expensive for people to buy.
B. No young people are interested in traditional culture.
C. ICH products need to become more suitable for modern life.
54.What does the underlined word "inheritor" in the last paragraph mean in Chinese?
A. 继承者B. 发明者C. 研究者
55.What is the main idea of the passage?
A. Young people are trying to spread and develop Chinese ICH.
B. ICH products are popular among people of all ages.
C. Old traditions will disappear soon without young people.

If you want to know which social app Chinese young people use a lot now, you had better not miss “short videos”. Some users use apps like TikTok (抖音) and Kuaishou because they think it is fun to share short videos about their lives, while others have different purposes as well.
A 12-year-old user named Elsa has up to 2.7 million followers on TikTok. The girl has shared videos about her dancing studies since last July. One of the videos won her about one million fans. “I feel really happy to go on sharing happiness with other people by short videos,” said Elsa.
As some videos are about the latest news, a group of users depend on them to get information. To some other users, they have a different purpose. “Because I can’t spend many hours watching a complete video and I am a very impatient person. I don’t like waiting for a program to end. I prefer to watch short videos of wonderful parts in a concert or a TV series,” said Wang Zhihao.
However, some young Chinese feel bored with some short videos. “Killing time is the main reason for me to watch the short videos, but many are almost the same, so I think it is a waste of time. Moreover, I really don’t like the videos which show strange even dangerous things,” said Wen Nan, another college student.
Recently, something else has happened. Some videos are telling people what products are worth buying. Some users buy the products after watching, but they should think twice. If they don’t think carefully, they may regret soon. Some short videos even sell fake (假) products, but these sellers won’t let you return them to get your money back, or deal with your trouble.
