三、阅读理解(共15小题,每小题2分,共30分)

Change is a natural part of our life. It happens all around us, whether we like it or not. Personally, I believe that change is a good thing. It helps us grow, learn, and become better versions (版本) of ourselves. However, I must say that change can be challenging and even scary at times.
When we are used to a certain way of living or thinking, a fixed pattern (固定模式) sets in. We have already been used to some fixed patterns. These patterns seem to be comfortable. So this makes it difficult to change. This is called path dependence, and it can hold us back from reaching our full abilities.
Laziness and fear often lead to this cycle. For example, I used to put off my tasks until the last moment. Whenever I faced a challenge, my first idea was to avoid it. As a result, I did not make much progress. But then, I realized that if I wanted to improve myself, I had to change my attitude towards challenges. I decided to accept challenges and face difficulties directly. It was a smart choice, as I began to see little progress in my life. Breaking the cycle of path dependence requires pushing me out of my comfort zone (舒适圈) and finding new goals. Letting go of old habits and developing new ones can bring me success.
Our worth should not be decided by external evaluations (外部的评价) but by how we see ourselves. Life should be unusual, and we should try hard to be like blooming summer flowers. Accepting change requires courage, especially for old people. We should not worry about whether the change we have made is right or wrong. Every time we challenge ourselves, we are moving towards a brighter future.
( ) 21. What does the writer think of the change in the first paragraph?
A. It helps us improve ourselves.
B. It is always challenging and scary.
C. It only happens when we want it.
D. It can be avoided whenever possible.

A. Breaking out of old patterns. B. Getting used to certain habits.

( ) 25. Which can be a proper title for the text?
A. Do Things in a Certain Way
B. Look Inside to Show Your Worth

Recently, a junior high school sent several students back home because they broke the school uniform rules. Should students wear school uniforms? The Young World magazine held a discussion on this topic.
Kennedy: The school uniform is very important, because it always reminds me that I am supposed to go out of my way to study hard. It also helps prevent school bullying (欺凌). If everyone wears the same clothes, it is impossible to laugh at other people’s clothing.
Manson: The uniform has to be earned (获得) through efforts. Students should start school with no uniforms. As they make progress at school, they start wearing it. I always think children need to be proud of their school. The uniform is important for that. So, make students earn it! If they don’t perform well, they should not be allowed to get one.

Tell yourself the truth. When something stressful happens, we often can’t help taking a deep breath at first. But we control what happens next. It’s possible to work with our stress, rather than against it. Thank it and remind yourself: “My body is producing energy to help me deal with it.”
Turn your attention to joy. To protect energy stores, turn your attention to being present. Focus on what you can feel grateful for. Smiling can reduce stress. Joy can recharge us. Plan something in your day that you look forward to.
Work your stress out. You might think all your feelings live in your brain. But in fact, we feel them with our whole bodies. Doing exercise can help your body reduce stress. It can change how you feel. Also, heating up and cooling down, like taking a shower, may cheer you up.
Relax yourself in green. Being in crowded and busy places sends our bodies signs of danger. We can recharge our batteries with green space time—look for a park, gardens or plants to calm our bodies and minds.

Dear Li Hua,
I’m sorry to hear you’re feeling stressed. But remember being confident in study is important, because confidence brings you courage to overcome difficulties and helps you grow.
To build confidence in study, firstly you need to know your own strong points and try to develop them. Besides, setting small goals is necessary. Every time you achieve a goal, you can enjoy success. Each success can strengthen your confidence. Finally, even top students doubt themselves sometimes. Don’t worry. You can take a walk or listen to music to be relaxed. Also, sharing your feelings with your parents, teachers or friends is a good choice. With their help and encouragement, it is easier to gain confidence.
In a word, whatever you do, confidence really matters. I hope my advice will be of great help and I believe you will regain confidence in study.
Yours,
Wang Ming

三、阅读理解(共15小题,每小题2分,共30分)
A
Change is a natural part of our life.
( ) 22. What is the meaning of the underlined phrase “path dependence” in the text?
A. Breaking out of old patterns. B. Getting used to certain habits.
C. Reaching our full abilities. D. Making progress continually.
( ) 23. What made the writer change his attitude to challenges?
A. Little progress. B. Growing courage.
C. Enough time. D. His full abilities.
( ) 24. What does the writer probably agree with?
A. Everyone wants to break fixed patterns.
B. Following path dependence is the way to success.
C. Old people are easier to change than young people.
D. Facing changes is difficult but necessary and helpful.
( ) 25. Which can be a proper title for the text?
A. Do Things in a Certain Way
B. Look Inside to Show Your Worth
C. Find New Ways to Solve Challenges
D. Accept Change in Your Life Actively

Moorhead: In my opinion, kids don’t have to wear uniforms. There should be more choices open to kids in education. They ought to (应该) develop their own independence and just be themselves. Their personalities (个性) would be expressed through their own clothes at school. And different dress could be one way of showing their understanding of beauty. Besides, they make the school lively and colorful.
Patrick: I can see the advantages of wearing school uniforms. They play a very important role in managing schools. However, a school should not depend heavily on uniforms to improve students’ behaviors. Teaching them how to express themselves with confidence (信心) is more important.
( ) 26. What does the writer mean to do in Paragraph 1?
A. Present (呈现) an opinion on a subject.
B. Introduce a topic for discussion.
C. Provide a way to solve problems.
D. Disagree students’ uniforms.

A. A student. B. A teacher. C. A parent. D. A head teacher.
( ) 28. In Manson’s opinion, ________.
A. students have the right to get school uniforms for free
B. students should be encouraged to earn school uniforms
C. students performing well needn’t wear school uniforms
D. students should be encouraged to wear own clothes
( ) 29. According to Patrick, what is more important?
A. Managing schools by uniforms.
B. Improving students’ behaviors.
C. Helping students express themselves confidently.
D. Wearing school uniforms.
( ) 30. We can learn from the text that ________.
A. Kennedy can’t stand school uniforms
B. Moorhead is against school uniform rules
C. the writer holds the same opinion as Patrick’s

My phone is showing that little red low-battery sign. What if I didn’t recharge (充电) it—no, that would stress me out. But what if I took a few minutes to recharge myself—yes, that would help. But how? Here are a few ways to recharge yourself.
Life is short. It’s even shorter living on half a battery. We can break our daily stress habits and create more energy.

A. Turning off the phone right away.
B. Taking time to recharge yourself instead.

( ) 32. Why should we tell ourselves the truth when something stressful occurs?
A. To make ourselves more stressed.
B. To avoid dealing with the stress.
C. To work with stress, not against it.
D. To complain to body about stress.
( ) 33. How can turning attention to joy help recharge ourselves?
A. By making us forget all the problems.
B. By making us more stressed about the future.
