第一节(满分15分)
My Low-carbon School Life
Nowadays, living a low-carbon life, which is widely advocated, has become a necessary trend on campus. I try to develop good habits to live an eco-friendly school life.
In daily study, I always use both sides of paper and avoid disposable products. I choose to walk or ride bikes rather than take cars to cut carbon emissions. Besides, I turn off lights and taps in time so that I can save energy.
I feel proud to do my part for environmental protection. Small actions can make a big difference. I hope more students will join me to build a green and beautiful campus.
第二节(满分25分)
One day as we were having lunch together, he told me that his goal was to pass the fifth grade. His eyes sparkled with determination, and I could see that he was serious about it. I nodded and told him that I believed he could do it, and that I would be there to support him every step of the way. From that day on, David seemed to have a newfound motivation. He started completing his homework on time and even volunteered to help other students with their work. One day, I received a note from him.
After reading the note, I sat down with tears rolling down my face. It was a simple note, but it meant the world to me. David had written how much he appreciated my help and support, and how he was determined to make me proud. He had even included a small drawing of us sitting together in the library, with a big smile on both our faces. It was a reminder that sometimes, all a student needs is someone to believe in them and show them that they matter. I knew that I had made a difference in David’s life, and that was the greatest reward of all.

Our only issue has been the power failure. I know you are expecting a small repair job, but if you want to increase your homes value, i'll suggest Green energy. A solar power system would fix your energy supply while reducing costs. Interesting, but I only wanted to spend five thousand dollars on home repairs. Well, for eight thousand dollars, your home could run on solar power, plus you'd save around two thousand dollars on electricity bills per year. Does eight thousand dollars include everything? Yes, IT includes everything, will repair your electricity supply, set up solar panels and put in a battery system. Well, that's a little more than I planned. As you know, i'm here to meet you and tell you about the ideas I have put forward in my recently published book, the best way to learn in the book, I try to explain that there are some Better ways of learning then the ones traditionally used in our schools and colleges. These methods could possibly help those who feel left out by the current system. I'm sure many of you will have questions about my ideas, and I will be answering questions from the audience after my talk. However, I would ask you all to visit my website, WWW dot learn with run dot com, where you will be able to find detailed explanations of my ideas and lots of other useful things such as teaching materials and resources. A South Florida scientist is challenging traditional views of what a scientist should look like and gaining wide online attention. Jordon King, a microbiologist and science communicator, has drawn growing interest in his research in Everglades National Park, where he studies one of the ecosystem’s most vital yet least understood components: floc.
Floc, a loose, organic material found in wetland soils, can reveal environmental changes over time, particularly those caused by human activities like freshwater restoration. Floc may not sound exciting, but it is critical to the ecosystem. Unlike compact soil, floc helps form soil deposits, which supports steady plant growth. Plants, in turn, provide food for animals, and if floc disappears, this delicate balance breaks down, risking the entire ecosystem’s collapse.
Over the past year, King has collected more than 200 soil samples for his research. His dedication earned him a master’s degree from Florida International University — though the journey was far from easy. He reached out to about 40 professors before getting a positive response to move his work forward.
King later began sharing his work on social media, posting videos from the Everglades and breaking down complex science in an engaging, accessible way. What started as a casual idea quickly caught on, with viewers drawn to both his passion and his genuineness.
“People often comment, ‘Don’t judge a book by its cover,’” King said. “That’s exactly what I’m experiencing. What makes me stand out is being myself, not following the traditional image of a scientist.”
King loves what he does, and he told NBC6 that he hoped to keep focusing on his research, while using social media to share his work, make a living, and inspire more people to get involved in science.
24.What can we learn about floc according to the passage?
A.It directly increases local animal populations.
B.It shows how to control plant growth in wetland soil.
C.It reveals environmental changes caused by humans.
D.It proves compact soil harms the ecosystem’s balance.
25.What contributed to King’s advancing his work?
A.Obtaining professional support to carry on.
B.Finding the right species for research.
C.Collecting enough funds for study.
D.Explaining complex science on social media.
26.What makes King stand out online?
A.His breakthrough in freshwater restoration research.
B.His style challenging the typical image of a scientist.
C.The complexity of his floc research in the Everglades.
D.His decision to share complicated science on social media.
27.Which of the following best describe King?
A.Energetic and cautious. B.Decisive and sympathetic.
C.Humorous and conventional. D.Innovative and passionate.

Despite decades of medical advances, detecting health-related molecule (分子) still relies on bodily liquids like blood, requiring blood draws from most patients, especially people with diabetes who need frequent finger blood tests. However, researchers from the University of Chicago have developed a lightweight device named ABLE, which collects and detects molecules in the air. This 4×8-inch device is a potential game-changer for medicine and public health.
Detecting molecules in the air has long fallen behind liquid detection, mainly because target particles (微粒) are extremely rare — there may be only one in a trillion. To solve this problem, the team turned air into liquid. The device draws in air, adds water vapor with a humidifier, and cools it to turn air into small drops. These drops trap particles and slide into a small container, making detection easy with common tools used for liquid analysis.
Early tests proved its effectiveness. It caught easily evaporated (挥发的) coffee vapor, detected glucose in breath, identified E. coli in the air, and found signs of inflammation (炎症) in mice with unhealthy gut bacteria. Obviously, it solved the problem of collecting molecules that evaporate easily — a major worry during the device’s development.
The device was first inspired by the need for painless tests for early-born babies in ICUs. These fragile babies are likely to have health problems, and repeated blood tests may put them in danger. Doctors hope the device can track health signs without taking blood, protecting these high-risk patients. It also shows promise for diagnosing inflammatory bowel disease, though the related breath signs first need to be recorded. The team plans to improve and make it smaller to create a wearable device for daily use.
Besides medical uses, this achievement may open the door to new physics research on air impurities and state changes of matter. As a new tool for detecting air chemistry, ABLE fills the space between air and liquid molecule analysis, creating possibilities for various new developments in healthcare and science.
28.Why did the researchers develop ABLE?
A.To change medicine and public health.
B.To identify health molecules without liquid.
C.To reduce finger blood checks for patients with diabetes.
D.To take the place of blood tests in hospitals.
29.What can we infer about ABLE?
A.It is small and wearable for daily use.
B.It diagnoses inflammatory bowel disease easily.
C.It has proved useful for newly born babies.
D.It has overcome a key technical challenge.
30.Who will least likely benefit from ABLE?
A.A chemist. B.A physician. C.A psychologist. D.A physicist.
31.Which of the following is the best title for the text?
A.A Tool for Bodily Liquid Analysis.
B.A Tool for Airborne Particle Counting.
C.A Device for Modern Physics Research.
D.A Device for Air Molecule Detection.

Recent research suggests that actors may be able to hide their everyday self when they take on a new character. Researchers worked with Flute Theatre, which creates and provides interactive productions of Shakespeare for autistic (患自闭症的) individuals and their families. The team used wearable brain imaging technologies, alongside measurement devices, to evaluate the brain activity of actors as they played scenes from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Lead author Dwaynica Greaves said, “The shout of a person’s own name is a powerful sound that normally makes the person turn his or her head. However, our findings suggest that actors may learn to suppress their sense of self as they train in the theatre and take on a different character.” The findings showed that when the actors heard their own names during the performance, their response was prevented in the left anterior prefrontal cortex of the brain, which is usually associated with self-awareness.
The researchers also found that during the play, there were similar activity patterns in the brains of paired actors who were working together. These areas are associated with social interaction. The effects were specific to the brain data and were not seen in the heartbeat or breathing data, showing that there are specific brain systems functioning together effectively during complex social interactions.
Greaves said, “Our findings indicate that working together with the theatre industry could be helpful in producing theories about social interaction that could also be investigated in the real world. Our lab will continue to investigate the effects of theatrical training on an actor’s sense of self in the hope that young people, including those with autism, can learn new social skills by taking part in theatre activities.”
Artistic Director of Flute Theatre, Kelly Hunter, said, “The scientific recognition that our physiological selves respond when we hear our names deepened my understanding of the drama games I play with autistic individuals. And I have further developed the way I use the names of the autistic participants within our performances. It’s been a perfect combination of artistic instincts and scientific questioning, creating a deeper understanding of how we communicate.”
32.How did the researchers carry out the study?
A.By conducting random interviews. B.By assessing subjects’ brain activities.
C.By observing actors’ interactions. D.By evaluating audiences’ responses.
33.What does the underlined word “suppress” in paragraph 2 most probably mean?
A.To hide or hold back. B.To express or expose.
C.To record or remember. D.To improve or strengthen.
34.According to paragraph 4, what does Greaves hope to do through the research?
A.To allow actors to better focus during the performance.
B.To help young people learn social skills through theatre.
C.To replace traditional autistic therapies with theatrical training.
D.To prove theatrical experience contributes to social interaction.
35.What is Kelly Hunter’s attitude towards the research findings?
A.She doubts their usefulness for her work.
B.She thinks they go against artistic instincts.
C.She finds them too complicated to understand.
D.She values them and has improved her practice accordingly.

Smart Ways to Use Kitchen Scraps (边角料)
Whether you’re on a mission to reduce your daily waste or not, we’ve all run into this one problem before: having lots of leftover food ending in landfill. 36 Then your grocery bill doesn’t go to waste. We’re teaching you how to reuse food scraps for tasty, homemade treats that are easy to make!
If you have some orange peels (皮), you can make candied orange peels. Cut the peels into small pieces, boil them for 10 minutes, and then wash them with cold water. 37 So the peels aren’t as bitter. Once that is done, cook the peels with sugar and water until they turn soft and sweet. Not only do you get a delicious snack, but you’ll also get orange syrup (糖水) that’s perfect for mixing into drinks.
In the same way, ginger (姜) peels have many good things for the body. 38 Boil them to make ginger water, or dry them and turn them into ginger powder, which you can use to make tea.
If you’re someone who removes the skins from your potatoes before you cook them, you can use the skins to make potato chips. Just add salt and oil and put them in an air fryer to make delicious chips.
39 Onion skins have pigments (色素) that can dye fabric (给织物染色). Just boil the skins in water, and then put your fabric in the coloured water. Depending on the type of onion, you can dye your fabric yellow, orange or green.
So next time you cook, think again before throwing away your scraps. 40
A.They can be used in many ways.
B.So use your best judgment.
C.Think about how to reuse the scraps.
D.Then boil and wash them two more times.
E.It helps improve soil quality and reduce landfill waste.
F.You might be surprised by what you can make!
G.Even onion skins can be reused — but not for eating.

When I created my social media account, I was unaware that I would be so engaged in it. Over the years, I have become 41 to it — surfing through different apps from the moment I woke up until I went to bed, and 42 the same pattern the next day.
The consequences are imaginable — my sleep quality 43 as I stayed up late, scrolling (滚屏) through endless feeds. Worse still, my classmates were engaging in meaningful activities and making progress while I was merely using up my previous advantages and became 44 . This contrast 45 my self-criticism. So in January, I decided it was time for a 46 .

67.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
As teachers, we try hard year after year to help our students feel successful. But sometimes there comes one student that presents a challenge. A few years ago, I had that challenge. His name was David. Before school even started, his name had come before him. He had moved from another school into mine.
On the first day of school, all the excited students walked into the room longing to start: everyone but David. He had had a hard summer. His father was in jail (监狱). This angered him because his family was not together. His mother had to work nights, so she wasn’t there in the evening and was sleeping when he woke up. During the evenings, he lived with his sixteen-year old sister. I knew he got less support at home. But David was a bright student. All showed that.
So I began my challenge to help David achieve success. I liked him immediately and saw so much energy hidden behind an angry wall he had built up around himself. But David slowly quit doing his homework and began to get into more trouble. It was clear that he was looking for any kind of attention. I knew if David was going to pass the fifth grade, I needed to come up with a plan.
One day, David and I sat in the library and just talked. I told him that I knew that he was not an “F” student and that I didn’t want him to be suspended (停学). It was my job to teach him, but his job to try. We talked about his family and what he did after school. He wanted to do well. From then on, David and I often sat in the library and just talked. He knew what I expected from him and that I liked him.
As a result, he had a better performance in my class. But sometimes, he would talk back to other adults. I asked him why he had never talked back to me. He said I would not jump to conclusions without hearing his side of a story.
注意:1.续写词数应为 150 左右; 2.请按如下格式作答。
One day as we were having lunch together, he told me that his goal was to pass the fifth grade.

【答案】24.C 25.A 26.B 27.D

【详解】24.细节理解题。根据第二段“Floc, a loose, organic material found in wetland soils, can reveal environmental changes over time, particularly those caused by human activities like freshwater restoration. (絮凝物是湿地土壤中发现的一种松散的有机物质,它可以揭示随时间变化的环境变化,特别是那些由人类活动(如淡水恢复)引起的环境变化)”可知,絮凝物可以揭示由人类活动引起的环境变化。
25.细节理解题。根据第三段“He reached out to about 40 professors before getting a positive response to move his work forward. (在得到积极回应以推进他的工作之前,他联系了大约40位教授)”可知,King联系了大约40位教授,最终获得了专业支持,得以继续推进他的研究工作。
26.细节理解题。根据倒数第二段“What makes me stand out is being myself, not following the traditional image of a scientist. (让我脱颖而出的是做我自己,而不是遵循科学家的传统形象)”可知,King在网上脱颖而出是因为他挑战了传统科学家的形象,做真实的自己。
27.推理判断题。根据第一段“A South Florida scientist is challenging traditional views of what a scientist should look like and gaining wide online attention.
【答案】28.B 29.D 30.C 31.D
【导语】文章主要讲述了一种名为ABLE的轻便设备,用于空气中分子的检测。
28.细节理解题。根据第一段中“However, researchers from the University of Chicago have developed a lightweight device named ABLE, which collects and detects molecules in the air.(然而,芝加哥大学的研究人员开发了一种名为ABLE的轻便设备,用于收集和检测空气中的分子)”可知,研究人员开发ABLE是为了在不使用液体的情况下识别健康分子。
29.推理判断题。根据第三段“Early tests proved its effectiveness. It caught easily evaporated (挥发的) coffee vapor, detected glucose in breath, identified E. coli in the air, and found signs of inflammation (炎症) in mice with unhealthy gut bacteria. Obviously, it solved the problem of collecting molecules that evaporate easily — a major worry during the device’s development.(早期测试证明了它的有效性。它能捕捉到容易挥发的咖啡蒸气,检测呼气中的葡萄糖,识别空气中的大肠杆菌,并在肠道细菌不健康的小鼠体内发现炎症迹象。显然,它解决了收集容易蒸发的分子的问题——这是设备开发过程中一个主要担忧)”可推断,ABLE已经克服了一个关键的技术挑战。
30.推理判断题。根据最后一段“Besides medical uses, this achievement may open the door to new physics research on air impurities and state changes of matter.(除了医学用途外,这一成就可能为空气杂质和物质状态变化的物理学研究打开大门)”可知,ABLE对化学家、医生和物理学家都有益处,而心理学家研究的是人的心理现象和行为,与ABLE的用途不相关,因此心理学家不太可能从ABLE中受益。
31.主旨大意题。根据第一段中“However, researchers from the University of Chicago have developed a lightweight device named ABLE, which collects and detects molecules in the air. This 4×8-inch device is a potential game-changer for medicine and public health.(然而,芝加哥大学的研究人员开发了一种名为ABLE的轻便设备,用于收集和检测空气中的分子。这款4×8英寸的设备有可能改变医学和公共卫生的游戏规则)”以及全文内容可知,文章主要介绍了一种名为ABLE的轻便设备,用于空气中分子的检测,因此D选项“一种用于空气分子检测的设备”最符合文章主旨,适合作为标题。

34.According to paragraph 4, what does Greaves hope to do through the research?
A.To allow actors to better focus during the performance.
B.To help young people learn social skills through theatre.
C.To replace traditional autistic therapies with theatrical training.

35.What is Kelly Hunter’s attitude towards the research findings?

D.She values them and has improved her practice accordingly.
【答案】32.B 33.A 34.B 35.D
根据第一段“The team used wearable brain imaging technologies, alongside measurement devices, to evaluate the brain activity of actors as they played scenes from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.(研究团队使用了可穿戴脑成像技术以及测量设备,来评估演员在表演莎士比亚《仲夏夜之梦》场景时的大脑活动)”可知,研究人员通过评估受试者的大脑活动来开展该研究。
33.词句猜测题。根据划线词所在句“The shout of a person’s own name is a powerful sound that normally makes the person turn his or her head. However, our findings suggest that actors may learn to suppress their sense of self as they train in the theatre and take on a different character.(一个人自己名字的呼喊声是一种极具冲击力的声音,通常会促使这个人转过头去。然而,研究发现表明,演员在剧院训练并扮演不同角色时,可能学会suppress他们的自我意识)”以及下文“The findings showed that when the actors heard their own names during the performance, their response was prevented in the left anterior prefrontal cortex of the brain, which is usually associated with self-awareness.(研究结果显示,当演员在表演期间听到自己的名字时,他们大脑中通常与自我意识相关的左前前额叶皮层的反应被阻止了)”可推知,suppress意为“抑制、隐藏”。
34.细节理解题。根据第四段“Our lab will continue to investigate the effects of theatrical training on an actor’s sense of self in the hope that young people, including those with autism, can learn new social skills by taking part in theatre activities.(我们的实验室将继续研究戏剧训练对演员自我意识的影响,希望年轻人,包括那些患有自闭症的人,能够通过参与戏剧活动学习新的社交技能)”可知,Greaves希望通过该研究帮助年轻人通过戏剧学习社交技能。
35.推理判断题。根据第五段“The scientific recognition that our physiological selves respond when we hear our names deepened my understanding of the drama games I play with autistic individuals. And I have further developed the way I use the names of the autistic participants within our performances.(科学上认识到当我们听到自己的名字时生理自我会做出反应,这加深了我对与自闭症个体一起进行的戏剧游戏的理解。而且我已经进一步改进了在表演中使用自闭症参与者名字的方式)”可推知,Kelly Hunter重视这些研究发现,并据此改进了自己的实践方法。
第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
【答案】36.C 37.D 38.A 39.G 40.F

37.由上文“Cut the peels into small pieces, boil them for 10 minutes, and then wash them with cold water.(把果皮切成小块,煮十分钟,再用冷水冲洗。)”以及下文“So the peels aren’t as bitter.(这样果皮就不会那么苦了。)”可知,此处是制作糖渍橘皮的连续步骤,D项“Then boil and wash them two more times.(接着再煮、冲洗两遍。)”符合此处语境,承接制作流程,减轻苦味。
38.由上文“In the same way, ginger (姜) peels have many good things for the body.(同样地,姜皮对身体有诸多益处。)”以及下文“Boil them to make ginger water, or dry them and turn them into ginger powder, which you can use to make tea.(把它煮成姜水,或是晒干磨成姜粉用来泡茶。)”可知,空格处总说姜皮用途广泛,A项“They can be used in many ways.(它有多种使用方式。)”符合此处语境,总领下文具体用法。
39.由下文“Onion skins have pigments (色素) that can dye fabric (给织物染色). (洋葱皮含有可以给织物染色的色素。)”可知,本段介绍洋葱皮不能食用但可用来染色,G项“Even onion skins can be reused — but not for eating.(就连洋葱皮也能再利用——但不能食用。)”符合此处语境,引出洋葱皮的特殊用途。
40.由上文“So next time you cook, think again before throwing away your scraps.(所以下次做饭时,扔掉边角料前先三思。)”可知,空格处收尾感慨厨余边角料能做出很多意想不到的东西,F项“You might be surprised by what you can make!(你会对自己能做出的东西感到惊喜!)”符合此处语境,总结全文、升华主旨。

第二节(满分25分)
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
After reading the note, I sat down with tears rolling down my face.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】 One day as we were having lunch together, he told me that his goal was to pass the fifth grade.
【导语】本文以人物为线索展开,讲述了作者作为一位教师如何帮助一个面临家庭困境且行为出现问题的学生David重新找回学习动力、取得进步并感受到成功的故事。
