Today we went on a school trip to a farm! It was tiring but great fun! In the morning, we explored the farm. There were large tents with tomatoes, cucumbers, and many other fruits and vegetables. The farmer told us about how these fruits and vegetables go from the fields to our tables. I was very interested because I usually only see them in the supermarket.
Then we got straight to work! First, we picked some strawberries. The work seemed easy, but it took time to get it right. Slowly, we filled many baskets. In the afternoon, the farmer taught us how to cut branches and tomato plants. This helps them to grow more fruit. Finally, we watered the plants. Plants need so much work! It was tiring, but I enjoyed working with my hands.

Jin Minzhe is from Suzhou, Jiangsu. He published (出版) his book Ji Chi Jing Hong He Shan Yin (《几尺惊鸿河山意》) in 2020. It is set during the Southern and Northern Dynasties (朝代). A young man fights for his homeland.
“I love reading Jin Yong’s wuxia stories,” Jin told Gusu Evening News. “I also love history. In Grade Seven, I travelled to Wuzhen. Xiao Tong from the Liang Dynasty once lived there, and then I thought about writing a wuxia story about him. I wrote day and night as my ideas kept coming. It took me about 20 days to finish the book,” Jin said.
Jin’s writing skills might come from his love of reading. In primary school, he read four books every week. In middle school, he still read three to four books a month. He improved his writing skills by reading different kinds of books.
Family support (支持) is important to Jin. “My father loves books about history, so I often share my reading experiences and different ideas with my father after dinner,” Jin said. “On weekends, my mom always takes me to bookstores and writers’ lectures (讲座). She also took care of me when I wrote the book.”
In fact, reading not only makes him relaxed but also opens his eyes and enriches his life. “I’ll keep reading and writing,” he said.

Checketts is a 7th grader from the US. She loves beaches. But she often sees plastic (塑料的) bottles on the beach. They are bad for beaches and sea animals. So she wants to make beaches clean.
The little girl makes a different water bottle. She gives it a name: Eco-Hero. The users bite a hole of the bottle, finish drinking and then eat it. The idea is from popping boba (爆爆珠) in milk tea drinks. There is juice in the popping boba and people can eat it. Checketts says the bottle tastes a little sweet. Or users can just throw it away after drinking, because it is friendly to the environment (环境).
Checketts isn’t the first one to make this kind of water bottle. A few years ago, three students from London made the Ooho water bottle. It can hold 50ml of water. Eco-Hero can hold about 200ml.
In the future, Checketts will make Eco-Hero bigger and stronger. She hopes Eco-Hero can let people know it’s important to protect the environment.

Last winter, I went to Harbin with my parents. It was my first time to see snow. The city was covered with white snow, which looked really beautiful. We played snowballs happily in the snow.
