Please turn your head away from others and cover your mouth with the full part of your hand when you cough (咳嗽) or sneeze (打喷嚏). Afterwards, you should say, “Excuse me.” This is a rule I set for my students.
It is so simple, but many kids have never been told to do this. In fact, I notice adults cough and sneeze in public without putting a hand over the mouth. I hate travelling by underground in New York during cold and flu season, because it is certain that someone is going to stand right behind me and cough or sneeze on my neck.
One important thing I point out to the kids is that after they sneeze or cough on their hand, they should wash their hands as soon as possible. Otherwise, they will be passing those germs (病菌) along to everything and everyone they touch.
In order to help the kids remember this rule, I tell them about an old story. It says that when you sneeze, evil spirits (邪恶幽灵) jump into your body. If you don’t cover your mouth, the spirits will enter, but if you cover your mouth, you will keep them out. We say “God bless you” when someone sneezes, and in Germany you should say “Gesundheit”. That means “Good health to you.” Both expressions are said just in case you didn’t cover your mouth in time and the spirits were able to enter your body. The kids love finding out the origins (起源) of these expressions and it encourages them to put the advice to use more often.
26.After coughing or sneezing on their hand, students are advised to ________.
A.go home and have a good rest
B.go to see a doctor as soon as possible
C.wash their hands as soon as possible
D.say “God bless you”

B.Don’t cough or sneeze in front of people.
C.Many people cough or sneeze on the underground train.
D.Don’t stand beside someone who coughs or sneezes.

Do you like eating vegetables? Almost everybody knows that eating vegetables is good for us. But why do some people like them while others don’t? A new study has found that other people’s likes and dislikes could be a reason. According to the research, people who eat vegetables but show a clear dislike for them can influence others.
People may make facial expressions when eating. How does it affect (影响) a person watching them? A team of scientists in the UK did a study. They asked more than 200 young women to watch videos of other adults eating broccoli (西兰花). The people in the videos had different expressions while eating. They would smile, seem neutral (neither happy nor sad), or look disgusted (厌恶的). The study found that when people in the videos looked disgusted while eating broccoli, people watching them began to like broccoli less. The opposite was not true, however. When someone had a smile while eating broccoli, people watching them did not like broccoli more.
By watching others, humans learn which behaviors (行为) will be good for them. Scientists believe that people might avoid food that looks terrible. In this way, people can protect themselves from eating something bad or dangerous. The research focused only on adults, but the team believed that the results could also work for children. This means, if children see their parents not enjoying certain foods, including vegetables, they might not want to eat them either.
Helping children to try more vegetables is meaningful. “If children are learning about vegetables at school, it’s important to encourage this interest,” says Jones. Parents can listen to their children tell what they have learned and read the handouts they bring home from school. Parents and children can also read books together. Younger children can enjoy reading stories about vegetables with parents. Older children may enjoy searching through cookbooks with parents to find new dinner ideas to cook vegetables in a tasty way.
How do the behaviors of adults influence their children’s choices of food? The team hopes to understand more about it. This could help find ways to encourage children to eat healthier food.
34.According to Paragraph 2, what is the result of the study?
A.People may cook the food others like.
B.Children dislike eating certain vegetables.
C.People may not choose the food others dislike.
D.Young women are easily affected by other people.
35.What will the team probably do next?
A.They will study the safety of children’s food.
B.They will study the skills to produce healthy food.
C.They will study the influences of parents’ behaviors.
D.They will study the ways to understand children well.
36.Which of the following would be the best title for the passage?

When Zhang Xue fell to his knees in tears on March 28, 2026, the world saw a new champion. But behind the success lay 20 years of pain, laughter, and a dream that refused to die.
At 15, his family was broken and his school life ended. With oily hands and a broken heart, he worked in a tiny motorcycle repair shop. Other kids sat in classrooms; he worked with machines. But every night, he whispered to himself: “One day, I will build my own motorcycle and stand on the world stage.”
At 19, he did something crazy. A TV team was working in his area. Zhang wanted to be on TV so that a racing team might notice him. He rode his old, broken motorcycle for over 100 kilometers in the cold rain just to follow the TV team. He asked them to film him. At first, they said no, but his burning heart moved them finally. That short TV show did open a door for him. A racing team saw him and his dream journey began.
However, success did not come as he expected. He failed. Again. And again. Rivals (竞争对手) laughed, “A school dropout making world-class motorcycles?”
In 2013, he moved to Chongqing with only 20,000 yuan, working day and night. He was always pushing his team to the limit over every tiny detail—one gram of weight, one millimeter of balance. “Ten years of failure? I don’t care. I will keep going.” he once said, “Deep down, I simply love motorcycles.”
And he meant it. Then came 2026. His ZXMOTO crossed the finish line first. The poor boy, now a middle-aged man, stood at the top of the world. After the victory, Zhang wrote: “It’s not about winning a prize. It’s about loving the ride. And that, perhaps, changes everything.”
42.What was Zhang’s dream at the age of 15?
43.Why did Zhang follow the TV team in the cold rain?

阅读下面短文,回答短文后的问题。(前3题每题答案不超过10个词,第4题不限)。
