News host: Welcome back to the last piece of the morning news. More homeless animals are coming to the local animal hospitals. The number has increased by 60%. The hospitals don't have enough workers to take care of the animals. And they also need more money. Yesterday, they asked the public for help: “Please donate money, food, medicines or your time. If you are looking for a pet, please get one from our hospitals. Your help can make a big difference.”
Post-listening
Think and share.
What else can you do to help the local animal hospitals?

We can advise some friends to get a pet from the hospitals.
We can share information about the animal hospitals on social media to raise awareness.

Andy: Have you heard the news? The animal hospitals need our help! Let's donate some money and food.
Jenny: I think we can do more. I read about a hospital this morning. It asks students to read to homeless animals!
Andy: Why?
Jenny: It helps the animals feel comfortable around people. You know, this can prepare them for their future homes. It also gives people a chance to take care of them.
Andy: Can we take part in this activity?
Jenny: Sure. But the two of us might not help much. We need more people.
Andy: The "School Volunteer Week" is coming, you know? We could make a poster and ask more people to join us.
Jenny: Good idea! We could also collect books and donate them to the hospital.
Andy: We could donate money and food, too.
Listen again. Then talk about the speakers’ way of checking background knowledge.
Checking background knowledge
