Last month, Aunt invited us to the yearly outdoor spring celebration on her farm.
On the way, we decided to take a little side road as a shortcut (捷径). Just when we were in the very middle of nowhere, our car started making a strange noise. We had to call roadside service. We felt down as we were going to be late.
“We’re going to miss everything!” complained Tex.
“Look on the bright side,” said Dad, “Our car broke down in such a pretty place.” “I agree,” Mom said, taking out the picnic blanket (垫子). “How about walking over to that wildflower field and having our own springtime celebration?”
At first, the idea didn’t exactly make us kids jump up and down. But as we started looking around, cool things started happening.
“Hey!” Indi said quietly. “This huge butterfly landed on my knee!”
“She’s so beautiful!” I said. “Look, there are two lovely rabbits happily eating grass there!”
Just then, we heard a big sound, and hundreds of birds rose up out of the trees, and flew into the sky. “Wow, that is the most magical thing I’ve ever seen in my life!” I shouted.
Although the workers fixed our car, by then it was too late to get to the farm. So my parents let us eat cakes, and they were delicious! Anyway, it was a pretty special picnic.
If you try to stay open to what’s actually happening around you, you might just discover wonders beside you.
59. Why did the family feel down at first?
A. Because they lost their way to the farm. B. Because they might be late for the celebration.
C. Because they had no food to eat on the way. D. Because no one would come to fix their car.

Do you ever think about where you should put food in your fridge (冰箱)? It might sound simple, but placing items in the right places can help keep your food fresh and safe to eat.
Not every part of your fridge is at the same temperature. Cold air sinks, so the bottom shelves (架子) are colder than the top ones. The door shelves, on the other hand, warm up the most because they get the most air when you open the door. Knowing this helps you decide where different types of food should go.
The top shelves are the best place for ready-to-eat food, such as leftovers (吃剩的食物), cooked meats and ready meals. These items should always be kept far from any uncooked food, to keep them safe from any bacteria (细菌).
The middle shelves, where the temperature stays steady and cool, are perfect for all your dairy items. Keep things such as milk, cheese, butter and yogurt here.
The bottom shelves are the coldest part of your fridge, so it’s the best place for uncooked meat and fish. Keeping them here also means that if any juices leak (漏出), they won’t touch other foods below. Always keep them in closed boxes or bags, too.
Finally, the door shelves are the warmest place in your fridge. Use them for items that don’t go bad quickly, such as sauces (调味汁), jams and drinks.
Knowing where and how to store things in your fridge can make a big difference in keeping your food and you safe.
62. Which part of the fridge is the coldest?
A. The top shelves. B. The middle shelves.
C. The bottom shelves. D. The door shelves.
63. Why are the door shelves the warmest?
A. Because cold air stays there. B. Because they get the most air when the door opens.
C. Because they are near the light. D. Because food keeps them warm.
64. The middle shelves are good for ________
A. dairy products B. uncooked food C. drinks D. jams
65. Why should uncooked food be kept away from ready-to-eat food?
A. To save space. B. To stop bacteria from polluting them.
C. To keep the fridge tidy. D. To make them taste better.

D. They wouldn’t like to eat cakes after the car was fixed.

【答案】62. C 63. B 64. A 65. B

Recently in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, a video of a young girl performing the Pangu dance, an ancient dance dating back to the Han Dynasty, caught the attention of tens of thousands of netizens. According to the girl’s mother, Ms. Wang, her daughter Tongtong is now 10 years old. Tongtong began learning Chinese dance at the age of three and a half because of her born passion for dancing.

“Because of her love for dancing, Tongtong has developed friendships with many dance lovers. They enjoy learning and sharing short dance videos on Douyin to document their growth. Inspired by this, Tongtong began learning and uploading (上传) dance videos on Douyin since November of last year,” Ms. Wang explained.
Ms. Wang mentioned that her daughter takes about half an hour each day to learn dance on Douyin after completing her homework. Besides, Tongtong attends three-hour dance classes twice a week. “She makes good use of her time in order to improve her performance. She also has excellent grades in her class,” Ms. Wang proudly added.

To value our friendship, we always respect each other’s ideas when discussing works; I help him edit photos when he’s busy, and he encourages me when I feel nervous in competitions.
