These pieces are called jiandu. One special moment came in 2015. While cleaning a bamboo piece from the Warring States Period, he found the words for “hold your hand and grow old with you”, a line from The Book of Songs. “I felt the light and warmth of our history and culture,” Fang recalled. After finishing his studies in chemistry in 1988, Fang began working at the museum, using science for his love of history. He focuses on jiandu — things people wrote on before paper was used. In 2002, he faced a huge task — over 92,000 pieces from the Qin Dynasty were found in Hunan. He stayed in Changsha for nine years, working 12 hours a day to sort out and protect them. Preserving jiandu is extremely difficult. They are made of natural materials and break down easily. Once unearthed, they quickly turn black in the air, making the writing unreadable. Fang’s repair work involves over 20 steps, with decoloring and dewatering being the most important. Decoloring brings back the original (原来的) color and keeps the words clear, while dewatering helps them leave the wet condition and stay steady for keeping. After years of trying, he found a good two-step way and won a national technology prize in 2019. Each case is different. In 2020, his team worked on Han Dynasty bamboo pieces from a robbed tomb in Dingzhou. The pieces broke easily. They tried over 70 times to keep them together. Even though the writing was almost impossible to see, a special camera using infrared (红外线的) light showed the words clearly. So far, Fang and his team have fixed over 100,000 pieces. “For things like these, once they are dug up, there’s only a short time to save them. I cannot stop — the faster I work, the more of our history I can save,” said Fang. 4. How did Fang feel when he saw the line from The Book of Songs? A. Moved. B. Bored. C. Shocked. D. Confused. 5. What do we know about Fang’s work in Changsha after 2002? A. He got a national award right after. B. He solved all preservation issues there. C. He worked long hours to preserve jiandu. D. He went there to study Qin Dynasty history. 6. What does the underlined word “decoloring” in paragraph 4 mean? A. Washing the surface to remove dirt. B. Changing the color of jiandu. C. Preventing jiandu from turning black. D. Recovering the true color. 7. What lesson can we learn from Fang’s story? A. More haste, less speed. B. Time and tide wait for no man. C. Actions speak louder than words. D. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. A 5. C 6. D 7. 根据第二段中的“While cleaning a bamboo piece from the Warring States Period, he found the words for “hold your hand and grow old with you”, a line from The Book of Songs. “I felt the light and warmth of our history and culture,” Fang recalled.(在清理一枚战国时期的竹简时,他发现了《诗经》中“执子之手,与子偕老”的文字。方北松回忆道:“我感受到了我们历史文化的光芒与温暖。”)”可知,方北松看到这句诗经中的文字时,感受到了历史文化的光芒与温暖,内心受到了触动。故选A项。 根据第三段中的“In 2002, he faced a huge task — over 92,000 pieces from the Qin Dynasty were found in Hunan. He stayed in Changsha for nine years, working 12 hours a day to sort out and protect them. (2002年,他迎来了一项艰巨的任务——湖南出土了九万两千多枚秦代简牍。他在长沙待了九年,每天工作十二个小时,对这些简牍进行整理和保护。)”可知,2002年后方北松在长沙为了整理和保护秦代简牍,度过了九年每天十二小时的工作时光。故选C项。 【6题详解】 词句猜测题。根据第四段中的“Fang’s repair work involves over 20 steps, with decoloring and dewatering being the most important. Decoloring brings back the original (原来的) color and keeps the words clear, while dewatering helps them leave the wet condition and stay steady for keeping.(方北松的修复工作包含二十多个步骤,其中decoloring和脱水是最为重要的。Decoloring能恢复简牍原本的颜色,让文字保持清晰,而脱水能让简牍脱离潮湿状态,保持稳定以便保存。)”可知,简牍出土后会变黑,而decoloring是修复的关键步骤,且该步骤的作用是让简牍恢复原本的颜色、让文字清晰,结合“de-”的前缀含义及上下文的修复背景可知,该词的意思是“恢复事物的真实原本颜色”。故选D项。 【7题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段中的“Preserving jiandu is extremely difficult. They are made of natural materials and break down easily. Once unearthed, they quickly turn black in the air, making the writing unreadable.(简牍的保护工作难度极大。它们由天然材料制成,极易损坏。一旦出土,在空气中会迅速变黑,导致文字无法辨认。)”和“After years of trying, he found a good two-step way and won a national technology prize in 2019.(经过多年的尝试,他研究出了一套有效的两步法修复方案,并在2019年获得了国家技术奖项。)”、第五段中的“In 2020, his team worked on Han Dynasty bamboo pieces from a robbed tomb in Dingzhou. The pieces broke easily. They tried over 70 times to keep them together.(2020年,他的团队修复定州一座被盗古墓出土的汉代竹简,这些竹简极易破碎,团队尝试了七十多次才将其拼接完整。)”以及第六段中的“So far, Fang and his team have fixed over 100,000 pieces.(到目前为止,方北松和他的团队已经修复了逾十万枚简牍。)” C Have you ever seen an animal video online that made you stop and wonder? Videos showing a wolf taking care of a rabbit, or a lion walking calmly through a small town are now spreading widely. This is possible because of AI technology. However, scientists warn such popular videos may hurt real wildlife protection and spread wrong ideas about nature. A study in Conservation Biology points out that AI-generated animal videos create an untrue world, leading to wrong ideas about animal behavior and widening the gap between people and nature. Co-author José Guerrero-Casado stresses the danger of false (虚假的) information. For example, videos showing birds killing “bad” snakes might make people less willing to protect snakes, and create false ideas about animals that are already in danger. The effect on children is especially worrying. These videos can give them wrong ideas about how people and animals really get along. When children discover that real-world animals do not act as they do in these made-up videos, it can have the opposite result, finally making them feel less connected to nature. This risk grows as young people increasingly turn to social media for information. So, how can one recognize these videos? Experts suggest looking for a few signs: unnatural animal movements that appear too smooth or seem impossible in real life; light and shadows that do not look quite right; and small details like fur or feathers that appear unclear or repeat in an unusual way. To deal with these risks, the research team suggests putting more effort into education, like teaching media literacy (素养) in schools. As another co-author Francisco Sánchez says, the goal is to make sure “children learn early that there are no lions living here.” While they think this is important, the researchers also say that school lessons alone cannot stop the spread of false information made by AI. This leads to an important question about who else in society needs to help solve this problem, if school education is not enough. 8. How does the author present the issue in the first paragraph? A. By giving examples. B. By making a comparison. C. By quoting an expert. D. By sharing an experience. 9. What can be inferred about AI-generated animal videos? A. They make children love animals less. B. They mainly focus on species in danger. C. They may make animals seem dangerous. D. They create a false understanding of nature. 10. According to paragraph 4, which is most probably an AI-generated video? A. A parrot with clear feathers. B. A cat with natural shadows. C. A dog with unusual marks. D. A frog with extremely smooth jumps. 11. What will the author most probably discuss next? A. The media literacy lessons. B. The duties of social media. C. The popularity of such videos. D. The threats to wildlife protection. A 9. D 10. D 11. 根据第一段“Have you ever seen an animal video online that made you stop and wonder? Videos showing a wolf taking care of a rabbit, or a lion walking calmly through a small town are now spreading widely. This is possible because of AI technology. (你是否曾在网上看到过某个动物视频,让你不禁驻足思考?比如有视频展示一只狼在照顾一只兔子,或者一只狮子在平静地穿过一个小城镇的画面,如今这类视频正广泛传播开来,这得益于人工智能技术)”可知,作者通过列举这两个具体的视频例子来引出AI生成动物视频这一话题。故选A。 根据第二段“A study in Conservation Biology points out that AI-generated animal videos create an untrue world, leading to wrong ideas about animal behavior and widening the gap between people and nature. (《保护生物学》杂志的一项研究指出,AI生成的动物视频创造了一个不真实的世界,导致人们对动物行为产生错误认知,并扩大了人与自然之间的隔阂)”及第三段“The effect on children is especially worrying. These videos can give them wrong ideas about how people and animals really get along. (对儿童的影响尤其令人担忧。这些视频会让他们对人与动物的真实相处方式产生错误认识)”可知,这类视频会让人们对自然产生错误的理解。故选D。 【10题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段“So, how can one recognize these videos? Experts suggest looking for a few signs: unnatural animal movements that appear too smooth or seem impossible in real life; light and shadows that do not look quite right; and small details like fur or feathers that appear unclear or repeat in an unusual way. (那么,如何才能辨别出这些视频呢?专家建议寻找一些迹象:留意一些异常的动物动作,这些动作看起来过于流畅,而在现实生活中是不太可能出现的;还要留意光线和阴影的分布是否不太自然;还有一些细微之处,比如毛发或羽毛的呈现不够清晰,或者呈现出一种不寻常的重复现象)”可知,“极其流畅的跳跃”属于AI生成视频的典型特征。故选D。 【11题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“This leads to an important question about who else in society needs to help solve this problem, if school education is not enough. (如果学校教育还不够,这就引出了一个重要问题:社会上还有谁需要帮助解决这个问题)”可知,作者接下来最有可能讨论除了学校之外,其他社会主体(如媒体、政府等)的责任。“The duties of social media. (社交媒体的责任)”属于社会主体责任的范畴。故选B。 D When preparing for a test, most students assume it’s best to simply study the material and try to memorize as much of it as possible. Many tests seemingly reward rote (死记硬背) memorization. But what if students trained by testing themselves instead? Usually, studying is considered a safer bet; why risk producing wrong answers when you can just memorize the right one? Yet it turns out making errors early on can be more helpful for remembering information over time. Cognitive psychologists Henry Roddy Roediger and Jeff Karpicke conducted a study where they had hundreds of students memorize passages from a test-preparation book for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). One group memorized these passages by reading them repeatedly, while another group read the passages several times and then completed three tests. The results were surprising: the students who repeatedly studied the material initially performed better, but when they were tested again a week later, the students who tested themselves recalled over 60% of what they had learned, compared to only 40% for the group who repeatedly studied. The testing effect has since been confirmed in many studies under a range of conditions. Its value remains undoubted, but scientists are still debating why it has such a powerful effect on memory. The simplest explanation is that testing exposes our weaknesses. When we test our memories, we expose the weaknesses of existing neuronal (神经元的) connections in a way that ultimately strengthens what’s useful and removes what’s not, making the information we attempt to memorize more lasting and easier to recall. To maximize the benefits of the testing effect, it’s important to return to the same information in shorter sessions over several days instead of cramming (塞进) everything into a single night of intense studying. This allows your brain to consolidate the information and create stronger memories. In conclusion, testing is not just a tool for assessing your knowledge but also a powerful learning tool. By embracing errors and actively testing yourself, you can improve your learning and memory. So, instead of avoiding mistakes, embrace them as opportunities for growth and mastery. 12. What do we know about Henry and Jeff’s study? A. Self-testing works only in tasks of memorizing things. B. Those who repeatedly studied performed better later. C. Rote memorization doesn’t work well in the long run. D. The study focused mainly on how to prepare for TOFEL. 13. What happens to the brain when people test their memories? A. Additional neuronal connections in the brain are created. B. The brain processes new information at a higher speed. C. The weak connections between neurons are removed. D. Weak but useful neuronal connections become stronger. 14. What is an effective way to study according to paragraph 4? A. Avoiding making the same mistakes in tests. B. Studying everything intensely on a single night. C. Reviewing in shorter sessions over several days. D. Focusing on what is most likely to be on the test. 15. Which of the following is the best title for the text? A. Cramming for Exams: A Safer Bet for Success B. The Testing Effect: Why Practice Makes Perfect C. The Power of Testing: An Effective Approach to Learning D. The Secret of Learning: How Brains Process Information 【答案】12. C 13. D 14. C 15. 根据第二段中“The results were surprising: the students who repeatedly studied the material initially performed better, but when they were tested again a week later, the students who tested themselves recalled over 60% of what they had learned, compared to only 40% for the group who repeatedly studied.”(结果是令人惊讶的:那些反复学习材料的学生一开始表现更好,但当他们一周后再次接受测试时,那些自我测试的学生回忆起了60%以上所学的内容,而反复学习的学生只回忆起了40%。) 根据第三段的“When we test our memories, we expose the weaknesses of existing neuronal (神经元的) connections in a way that ultimately strengthens what’s useful and removes what’s not, making the information we attempt to memorize more lasting and easier to recall. (当我们测试自己的记忆力时,我们会以一种方式暴露现有神经元连接的弱点,这种方式最终会强化有用的连接,去除无用的连接,从而使我们试图记住的信息更加持久,也更容易回想起来。)”可知,测试记忆时,大脑会暴露并强化有用的神经元连接,同时去除无用的连接,由此可知,弱但有用的神经元连接被暴露并得到加强。故选D。 【14题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段的“To maximize the benefits of the testing effect, it’s important to return to the same information in shorter sessions over several days instead of cramming (塞进) everything into a single night of intense studying. (为了最大限度地发挥测试效果的益处,重要的是在几天内分多个较短的时段来复习同样的知识内容,而不是把所有东西都集中在一个晚上进行高强度的学习。)”可知,有效的学习方法是分几天进行短时间复习,而不是一晚上突击学习,由此可推知,在几天内分多次短时段复习材料是有效的学习方法。故选C。 【15题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第一段的“Yet it turns out making errors early on can be more helpful for remembering information over time. (然而,事实证明,早期犯错从长远来看可能更有助于记忆信息。)”以及第三段中的“The testing effect has since been confirmed in many studies under a range of conditions. (测试效应已经在多种条件下通过许多研究得到了证实。)”可知,本文的核心在于探讨测试作为一种有效的学习工具的力量,而且测试对学习和记忆的强大效果,所以“测试的力量:一种有效的学习方法。”概括了全文的主题,是最佳标题。故选C。 第二节 七选五(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 As an enthusiastic reader, I’ve always believed that the key to understanding the world lies in the pages of a book. ___16___ They introduce us to characters who feel as real as the people around us. This connection between readers and the text is what makes literature so powerful, and it’s why I value my personal library. It’s a collection that reflects my journey through the world of words. My library is not vast, but each book is carefully chosen. I have a mix of types in my collection, ranging from classic literature to contemporary fiction. ___17___ Each type offers a different perspective, a new way of looking at life. While some books challenge my thinking, others provide comfort. It’s important to have a balance. A well-organized library is like a well-balanced diet for the mind. Among my favourites are the works of Jane Austen and George Orwell. Austen's sharp observations on society and relationships are timeless. Her characters are imperfect yet charming. Orwell, on the other hand, offers a stark (冷峻的) view of the world. ___18___ Both authors, though different in style, have taught me invaluable lessons about humanity. ___19___ Biographies (传记) and life stories offer insights into the lives of extraordinary individuals. They remind us that greatness comes in many forms. Reading about the struggles and successes of others can be incredibly inspiring. It’s a reminder that we all have the potential to make a difference. These stories encourage me to reflect on my own life and what I wish to leave behind. My library is a reflection of who I am. It’s a sign of my love of learning and my desire to understand the world. Each book is a stepping stone on my journey of discovery. They are companions in loneliness and guides in times of uncertainty. ___20___ A. I also enjoy non-fiction. B. I believe in the power of variety. C. My library goes beyond a collection of books. D. His stories are a warning and a call to action. E. Through them, I continue to explore, to grow, and to dream. F. The stories we read shape our world view and broaden our minds. G. Historical fiction, in particular, holds a special place in my heart. F 17. B 18. D 19. A 20. 【16题详解】 根据前文“As an enthusiastic reader, I’ve always believed that the key to understanding the world lies in the pages of a book.(作为一个热心的读者,我一直认为,了解世界的关键在于一本书的页面)”以及后文“They introduce us to characters who feel as real as the people around us. This connection between readers and the text is what makes literature so powerful, and it’s why I value my personal library.(他们向我们介绍了一些和我们周围的人一样真实的人物。读者和文本之间的这种联系使文学如此强大,这也是我珍惜我的个人图书馆的原因)”可知,这里是在说我们读到的故事会给我们带来什么,所以F项“The stories we read shape our world view and broaden our minds.(我们读的故事塑造了我们的世界观,开阔了我们的视野)”承接上文,塑造了我们的世界观也就是上文提到的了解世界,并引出下文,符合文意。故选F项。 【17题详解】 根据前文“I have a mix of types in my collection, ranging from classic literature to contemporary fiction.(我的藏书种类繁多,从古典文学到当代小说都有)”以及后文“Each type offers a different perspective, a new way of looking at life.(每种类型都提供了不同的视角,一种看待生活的新方式)”可知,这里是说不同类型的书教会我们不同的东西,所以B项“I believe in the power of variety.(我相信变化的力量)”承接上文,引出下文,符合文意。故选B项。 【18题详解】 根据前文“Among my favourites are the works of Jane Austen and George Orwell. Austen's sharp observations on society and relationships are timeless. Her characters are imperfect yet charming. Orwell, on the other hand, offers a stark (冷峻的) view of the world.(我最喜欢的是简·奥斯汀和乔治·奥威尔的作品。奥斯汀对社会和人际关系的敏锐观察是永恒的。她的角色不完美,但很迷人。另一方面,奥威尔提供了一种冷酷的世界观)”可知,本段主讲简·奥斯汀和乔治·奥威尔,简·奥斯汀已讲完,空处结构应是作者对奥威尔作品的评价,所以D项“His stories are a warning and a call to action.(他的故事是一个警告,也是一个行动的号召)”符合文意,His stories指的就是奥威尔的作品。故选D项。 【19题详解】 设空位于段首,为本段中心句,根据后文“Biographies (传记) and life stories offer insights into the lives of extraordinary individuals. They remind us that greatness comes in many forms. Reading about the struggles and successes of others can be incredibly inspiring. It’s a reminder that we all have the potential to make a difference. As a delivery rider, he had just finished a few smooth orders, his hands warm from the hot milk tea cups he’d been carrying, and his spirits fairly good. Stepping out of a milk tea shop, he found the spot where his second-hand electric bike had been parked now empty. In an instant, his heart sank, and a wave of hopelessness swept over him, turning his calm evening into a nightmare. That bike was far more than just a vehicle; it was his lifeline, the only way for him to earn daily income and cover his living expenses. Panic set in as he remembered the undelivered orders — especially a cup of hot milk tea for Ms. White, a regular customer. His hand trembled as he pressed the voice button, his words laced with sorrow and anxiety as he apologized repeatedly, offering to pay for the undelivered drink. To his great surprise, Ms. White did not respond with anger or complaint, but with gentle kindness. Ms. White told him not to worry and to take his time finding his bike. Her understanding words calmed him, but also deepened his sense of responsibility. “She is so kind. I cannot let her down,” he thought. For nearly two hours, he searched every nearby street, but there was no sign of his bike. As night grew darker and the wind bit harder, Jack clenched his fists and made a firm decision. He took out his poor savings, bought a bag of fresh apples and a new cup of hot milk tea, then set off on foot to Ms. White’s apartment, several kilometers away. The wind bit into his thin jacket, and his old shoes grew heavy with mud, but the thought of keeping his promise and maintaining his integrity kept him moving forward through the dimly lit urban landscape. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150个左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Finally, breathless, Jack reached Ms. White’s doorstep and rang the bell. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Deeply moved by Jack’s action, Ms. White decided to share the story online that night. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: Finally, breathless, Jack reached Ms. White’s doorstep and rang the bell. The door opened, revealing a woman whose expression shifted from curiosity to surprise and then to heartfelt sympathy as she saw the exhausted man before her. His clothes were dusty, but the gifts in his hands were held with care. “Ms. White, these are for you,” he grinned, offering the apples and milk tea. “Wishing you happiness and good health. I am truly sorry about the delay.” Tears welled up in Ms. White’s eyes. “Oh, Jack! You shouldn’t have walked such a long way just for this!” she said, her voice soft with emotion for his unshakable honesty, even amid his own misfortune! Deeply moved by Jack’s action, Ms. White decided to share the story online that night. She posted a video describing what happened, writing, “Even when caught in his own storm, he still reached out to warm others.” The post quickly went viral, receiving millions of likes and shares. Strangers were touched by the ordinary man’s extraordinary act. The wave of kindness soon reached his delivery company. They promptly responded, providing Jack with a brand-new e-bike and a cash reward to support his honest work. Even more wonderfully, with the help of numerous alert eyes online, his original bike was located and returned. 词汇激活 行为类 ①展示:reveal/show/display ②走红:go viral/spread widely/become popular ③定位,找到:locate/find/discover/track down 情绪类 ①由衷的同情:heartfelt sympathy/sincere concern/genuine pity ②疲惫不堪的:exhausted/tired out/worn-out/fatigued 【点睛】[高分句型1] The door opened, revealing a woman whose expression shifted from curiosity to surprise and then to heartfelt sympathy as she saw the exhausted man before her. 1. B For more than 30 years, Fang Beisong, an expert at repairing old objects at Jingzhou Museum, has worked to make ancient words on bamboo and wooden pieces readable again. A. Moved. B. Bored. C. Shocked. D. Confused. 5. D When preparing for a test, most students assume it’s best to simply study the material and try to memorize as much of it as possible. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
