Ⅰ.阅读理解(本题共7个小题,每小题2.5分,共17.5分)

When thinking of TCM(Traditional Chinese Medicine)doctors, one might picture an elderly man with a long beard sitting in front of a medicine chest. However,He Suye,a young and talented physician in the latest medical-romance drama The Best Thing, challenges that traditional image.Played by the 27-year-old actor Zhang Linghe,Mr.He is a TCM specialist with a gentle personality, but outside of work,he enjoys hobbies like skateboarding and malatang,a type of hotpot, reshaping common views of TCM doctors.
The Best Thing follows Shen Xifan,a hotel manager suffering from frequent headaches and severe insomnia(失眠).In her search for a cure, she meets Mr.He,and their relationship deepens through medical consultations. To play a genuine TCM practitioner,Zhang studied Chinese medicine with practicing physicians, learning traditional diagnostic(诊断的) and treatment methods. This process helped him gain a deeper appreciation of TCM's integrated philosophy, which emphasizes the interconnectedness of the body, mind, and environment, viewing health as a balance among these elements.
The drama creatively integrates TCM knowledge by naming each episode after a type of Chinese herbal medicine, connecting TCM's healing methods to the storyline. For example,in one episode,Mr.He performs“wet cupping”to treat a breathing emergency, showcasing TCM's role in critical care.
The drama particularly appeals to younger viewers. With the growing integration of TCM and Western medicine,as well as expanding international exchanges,TCM practitioners and students now have more diverse career opportunities. For instance, acupuncture(针灸) is now covered in health insurance plans in many countries.Zhang Linghe believes that passion is the driving force behind a successful career—just like his character,He,who remains committed to his career path in TCM despite numerous challenges, including initial opposition from his father.Zhang hopes to introduce TCM to a global audience, especially younger generations, through the drama's release on international platforms.

Genres(体裁)are often viewed as structural frameworks for literary texts, onto which elements like imagery, characters, plot, and settings are layered. These frameworks are passed down through generations, evolving(演变)over time.
Among all genres, the novel received the most critical attention in the twentieth century, often praised as the “king of genres” due to its reflection on the real world.Yet, in the nineteenth century, it was primarily seen as a form of middle-class entertainment. It was not until the twentieth century that the novel was lifted to the status of an art form, in the same league as painting or classical music.Later on, many scholars successively studied the characteristics of novels from the 18th and 19th centuries.
Recently, in a book of Edwin Frank, Stranger Than Fiction, he raises an appealing question:is there such a thing as a “twentieth-century novel”?Is it meaningful to distinguish the twentieth-century novel from its nineteenth-century predecessor—or even from the novel of the twenty-first century? Frank thinks so.In his book, he illustrates how the twentieth-century novel matures into a distinct literary genre. The twentieth century was a period of violent change;therefore, violent change is what the twentieth-century novel reflects—not, or not only, in its subject matter but in its form.Frank suggests that, modern as the twentieth-century novel is, it shows the cultural relevance to development of societies.
However, that relevance seems to have waned.Today, the novel no longer holds a central place in the cultural conversation.People's daily question has shifted from “What are you reading?” to “What are you streaming?”Television series have emerged as the dominant form of middle-class entertainment in the twenty-first century.
Has prestige television reshaped the role of the novel? Many nineteenth-century novels gain vitality in the twentieth century through film adaptations.Henry James, for example, would likely be pleased to know that The Portrait of a Lady has been adapted for a BBC miniseries, a feature film, and even a television version—each reaching a far larger audience than the original print edition could ever have hoped for.
