阅读理解(本题共8个小题,每小题2.5分,共20分) A While a group of people enjoyed their dance steps, Dicks sat with the band and played her instrument—saxophone for them to dance to.It was a special performance, because all of the dancers in the touring troupe (巡回演出队) were visually impaired (障碍).While Dicks herself doesn't have a visual impairment, she had become involved with the community four years earlier. Having retired from her three-decade-long career as a classics teacher, she was spending her free time with her black Labrador puppy, Sasha.“One day, I took Sasha to a pet shop where a group of volunteers were raising money for Guide Dogs, an organization with the aim of providing services for visually impaired people worldwide through training and providing guide dogs,”she said. This experience led Dicks to the visually impaired community and became close with fellow volunteer Shirley—a morris dancer who was preparing to form a troupe for the visually impaired as a good way to get outside and keep active. As Dicks had taken up the saxophone in her 50s after her daughter left home for university, Shirley tasked her to help form the band. Every Friday afternoon the troupe, named So Xsighted, met for practice at the village hall.Their performances are not just about dance and music—they are about connection and the joy of shared experiences. So Xsighted performed at folk festivals, care homes and children's fairs, each time raising funds for Guide Dogs as well as local charities. To date they have raised more than £10,000.“It is amazing for our visually impaired members, who are often on the receiving end of care, to be able to give back,” Dicks says. “Being part of the group gives people so much confidence since we all support each other,”Dicks says.“I can't believe my luck that I found this community. It has given me a new perspective on life and a gratefulness for what I have.Above all, we're just enjoying ourselves and helping other people.” 1.What can we learn about Dicks from the first two paragraphs? A.She serves as the leader of the troupe. B.She helps raising money for Guide Dogs. C.She is responsible for designing dance steps. D.She accompanies the dancers on her saxophone. 根据第一段“While a group of people enjoyed their dance steps, Dicks sat with the band and played her instrument—saxophone for them to dance to.” D。 2.What made Dicks get involved with the visually impaired community? A.An encounter with a charity. B.Involvement with music. C.An Invitation from a friend. D.Interest in Labrador puppies. A。 3.What does the underlined word “It” in paragraph 3 refer to? A.The relationship between the members. B.The place visited by the touring troupe. C.The transformation of the members' roles. D.The money raised by performing at festivals. 根据倒数第二段“It is amazing for our visually impaired members, who are often on the receiving end of care, to be able to give back”可知,It指代的是成员角色的转变。故选C。 4.What message is conveyed in the text? A.Music and dance can break down barriers. B.Retirement is the best time to pursue hobbies. C.Community empowers individuals to contribute. D.Guide dogs are vital for visually impaired people. B Media literacy(素养)is finally getting some late-arriving attention.Whether it's the increasing awareness of political disinformation or the threat of AI, discussions about media literacy are on the rise. The adoption of media literacy in the classroom, however, stagnates. The driving force for providing kids with media literacy skills often gets lost in the moral panic over technology and kids.Fear has overrun reason, and people can't decide whether to blame social media, mobile devices, tech companies, or the Internet. They are concerned with claims that technology and social media are the causes of teenage mental health issues despite the weak associations. In response, too many solutions are “ostrich policies(鸵鸟政策)”that want to ban devices and shut down social media but don't address more fundamental issues. Policies that set age limits on social media access and restrict devices during school to minimize disturbance can be helpful but are incomplete solutions.Social media didn't invent bullies(霸凌)or the enormous effect of peer pressure.Social media platforms may be a new battleground, but they are not the source.Unfortunately, many current policies ignore the need to teach kids how to manage these challenges. There is frighteningly little attention paid to preparing kids to make good decisions when they will, unavoidably, get online. On the bright side, the rapid development of AI and increasing attention to the amount of misinformation online have helped normalize the acceptance of media literacy as a core skill. While suggestions to limit inappropriate device use, increase face-to-face socializing, and engage in outdoor play are beneficial, they do not build the core skills that will keep kids safe offline and are fundamental to well-being and life success:good citizenship, self-awareness and self-control.Those things take teaching, whether you are online or outside. Media literacy is an essential life skill that, once learned, can be applied to any content. While waiting for public education to catch up, parents and educators can build media literacy skills at home with numerous resources, ranging from family technology contracts and discussion guides to easy activities that can be done at home with kids. 5.What does the underlined word “stagnates” in the first paragraph probably mean? A.Gets far ahead. B.Falls apart suddenly. C.Falls well short. D.Gets started officially. C。 6.What causes people's moral panic over technology and kids? A.Belief in the rapid growth of new technologies. B.Concern over cutting kids off from the Internet. C.Inability to balance the use of social media and health. D.Fear of technology causing mental health issues in teenagers. 根据题干中的“moral panic over technology and kids”可以将答案定位到第二段“They are concerned with claims that technology and social media are the causes of teenage mental health issues despite the weak associations”,这表明人们对技术和社交媒体引发的青少年心理健康问题的担忧是导致这种道德恐慌的原因。故选D。 7.What does paragraph 3 focus on? A.The sources of peer pressure. B.The benefits of minimizing disturbance. C.The problems of current policies. D.The disadvantages of social media platforms. C。 8.Which of the following belongs to media literacy? A.Reducing social media exposure. B.Applying critical thinking to media. C.Increasing face-to-face interactions. D.Recognizing the dangers of social media. 根据第一段第二句可知,“the increasing awareness of political disinformation or the threat of AI”属于媒介素养;根据第四段中的“helped normalize the acceptance of media literacy as a core skill”可知,媒介素养作为一项核心技能得到普遍接受,可以帮助孩子们在网络内外保持安全,并对幸福和生活成功至关重要;再由最后一段中的“Media literacy is an essential life skill that, once learned, can be applied to any content”可知,媒介素养可以运用在任何内容上。 Ⅱ.阅读七选五(本题共5个小题,每小题2.5分,共12.5分) Join the Friends and find the place that's right for you ·Who are the Friends of the University Art Museum?
