The 2026 Government Work Report clearly says that China will support qualified (符合条件的) areas to carry out spring and autumn holidays for primary and secondary school students, while putting into practice the wrong-time paid leave system (带薪休假制度) for workers. As a hot topic, the policy has been tested in provinces such as Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Sichuan with useful experience.
These short holidays bring many good points to students. They can lower study pressure after long-time learning and help students keep healthy both in body and mind. With nice and comfortable weather, students can go out of classrooms to take part in real activities, including farming experiences, nature watching and local culture learning. In this way, book knowledge is turned into real-life experience.
The holidays also bring good points to families. Wrong-time leave lets parents spend happy time with their children at lower costs, away from the large crowds of busy travel seasons. Many families choose to travel, visit relatives or go to museums together, making family ties closer. At the same time, the holidays help develop local tourism and economy, making a win-win situation for education and society.
However, difficulties still exist (存在). The main problem is that many working parents cannot look after their children during the holidays. To solve this, many schools offer childcare services with colorful activities, and local communities offer more activities for students. The holidays can also be set freely according to local situations.
In short, spring and autumn holidays are an important educational change. They show a turn from exam-centered education to a focus on all-round development. With joint efforts from families, schools and society, these holidays will help students grow in a healthier and more meaningful way.

A. The same time as usual. B. Only on summer vacation.
C. During the busiest traveling season. D. A different time from the busy seasons.
( ) 37. What do paragraph 2 and paragraph 3 have in common?
A. Both focus on students’ traveling plans.
B. Both discuss students’ colorful school life.
C. Both mention the problems of these holidays.
D. Both talk about the good sides of these holidays.
( ) 38. What do schools do to help with the problem of working parents?
A. Offer care services and fun activities. B. Set new laws.
C. Shut down community service. D. Ask parents to take kids to work.
( ) 39. What is the writer’s opinion towards spring and autumn holidays?
A. Indifferent. B. Supportive. C. Doubtful. D. Upset.
40. What’s the structure of this passage?
A. B. C. D.

Many people like to travel when they have time off from school or work. They might go to their hometown to see their family, or travel somewhere far. But not everyone does this; more and more people are choosing to take a "staycation".
A staycation is a new word for a period of time when people stay at home on vacation or take day trips from their home to local (当地的) places of interest. Some people might travel around their city, visiting local parks and museums. Others might try countryside trips and take part in local festivals. People like me love to just stay at home.
I had a staycation of my own over the summer. I slept late every day. I worked on music and played video games. I wasn’t too lonely (孤独的). I had my cat to play with, and I got together with some of my friends around the city.
Traveling is fun, but it’s also nice to just stay at home and relax. It’s cheaper as well, since I don’t have to pay for travel. And you can choose to do whatever you like, if you want, just do nothing. There’s nothing wrong with that.

Recently I have paid a visit to Harvard University where there are top-class scientists and professors and the best academic system in the world.
I was pretty shocked when I first stepped onto the campus. Well, it’s not even really a campus. It’s more like a district in a small town.
Harvard’s main buildings are from the 18th century. They look very old and simple. You might even say they are a little shabby. They don’t fit the modern idea of university at all. The buildings are surrounded by grass and trees, so I felt as if I had walked into a medieval castle. But when I looked across the street, busy shops and in-fashion students made me feel like I was in the 21st century again. It creates a strong contrast and brings a special atmosphere to the school.
Our tour guide Gary took us around and told us, “You see this grass field in the center of the school? Here is where they host their graduation ceremony. They just set up tents and benches and have a very simple ceremony.” Unbelievable!! Who would think the most talented students just graduate on the lawn?
I saw some students put a blanket on the grass and lie down to read a book. When I listened to the soft sound of pages turning, along with the singing of birds, I felt very calm. There was no competitive feeling at all.
Harvard had the world’s first computer in its science center and there are hundreds of high-end computers too. Its religion and literature departments are also among the best. It is the perfect mix of tradition and new technology. It makes Harvard a very attractive place to study in.
I hope one day I will attend my dream school—Harvard.
46. Where have I visited recently?
47. When were the main buildings built in the university?
48. How did I feel when I listened to the soft sound of pages turning, along with the singing of birds?
49. What makes Harvard a very attractive place to study in?
50. Would you like to go to Harvard to study? Why?

Hi, Linda! Let me tell you something about my two-day trip to Qingdao. Qingdao is a beautiful city with water on three sides. So on the first day, I couldn’t wait to go to the beach and visited Zhan Qiao. I saw the big blue sea. Also, I took a walk along the beach and played the sand happily with some kids. You don’t know how excited I was because that was my first time to see the sea. The next day, I climbed Laoshan. I took many photos there and after that, my aunt took us to taste some seafood in the evening. It was very delicious! I love this beautiful city and I want to visit it again.
